It Doesn't Seem To Make The News Much Anymore

Forty-three were killed in Iraq yesterday. (But the biggest headline this morning was that Madonna was released from the hospital.)

I'm curious how many people die in this county every day due to crime (robbery, rape, drunk driving, etc). I know there are too many being killed in Iraq and I wish they could be home. A close friend has a son going back and it makes her a nervous wreck while he's there. At the same time, they are men and women who have signed up knowing dangerous duty may await them and, while the debate rages over the value of being in Iraq, they have helped in creating an opportunity for a better life for many in Iraq. Whether it will happen, we can only wait. All the while, we have thugs and drunks and desperate people that we cannot control on our own soil.

What happened to the war on drugs? Fix education, stop drugs, reduce teen pregnancy and you will lower our crime rate, IMO.

What news do you watch? Most network news shows can't wait to give today's count. I am sure that Nightline will be doing one their reading of the names shows soon. It gets a lot of coverage.

The point is, there should be NO AMERICANS in Iraq; it was started through lies and deceptions, it was done for revenge and money, the plan has morphed (see the Sunday FW Star-Telegram front Page)time and again, we are no closer to producing oil (actually farther)than before the "war", and when it does end and we have buried the THOUSANDS of dead young soldiers of all the countries involved we won't have changed changed one thing. History and the BIBLE tell us that (study the Old Testament and Ishmael). I just hope no one ever lets little george forget what he has done to this country long after he leaves public life.

I hope no one forgets what President Bush has done for this country, either. But not they way you suggest.

Ask the people of Iraq if they see any difference. While you're doing body counts take a look at the estimates of the number of people buried in mass graves they have found there. Ask them if they are better off now that a dictator can't use chemical weapons on them anymore. Ask the women there if they enjoy having the right to vote.

Another question, do you honestly believe that Saddam didn't partcipate in terrorism and harbor Al Queda? Do you not see that the removal of Saddam has made the region (and the world) safer.

You Demos are unbelievable. Take the Clinton bury your head in the sand approach and you get the WTC 1993, the USS Cole bombing, and ultimately the 9/11 attacks. His do nothing approach allowed Al Queda to flourish and the attacks to be planned.

How many were Americans? Your rant makes it sound like they all were.

There were more people lost in the Tsunami that hit last Christmas than all the deaths in Viet Nam. No death is good but our losses in Iraq are still a drop in the bucket and I am sure less that drug overdoses or gang fights or deaths caused by cigarette smoking or even drive by shootings in this country every day. No one is listing those counts every night on the evening news. You don't have to agree whether we should be in Iraq. Everyone there signed up "without mental reservation"

It's easy to sit here and be the expert. I know several Marines that have been in Iraq fighting. They have seen the people there, seen the horror the Iraqi's have lived through and every guy I know is signing on to go back when it's his time. They are convicted that for whatever reason they were first sent, they are helping people. I'm sure there are a number that feel differently but when I hear their stories and hear their belief in what they are doing, I can't say it's wrong.

This war with terrorists will never end. Fortunately, we have brave Americans who are willing to keep the action out of our streets. These religious zealots will never go away.

This war may have been started by lies and deceptions. But NO ONE HELD THE SOLDIERS HAND as he/she signed on to join the military. No one said you HAVE to join or else. There is no draft. I disagree with the war as well, but at the same time it pisses me off when moms cry about their children dying. They ask for what.. I say the same thing. But, don't whine they signed up! If you don't want to die, or see death don't go into the military.. It's that simple!
