Go figure, the underachieving Northwest ISD wants more money. They are one of the highest paying districts and their performance doesn't match up to the amount of money they spend. Maybe the teachers should take a pay cut and the district use that extra money to help pay for their own schools.
Wisecounty.com appears to be down.....again.
Hey 9:40:Why don't you go spend a year in the shoes of a NWISD teacher and then talk about a pay cut. It is probably your snot nosed kid they work 12-15 hrs. a day trying to teach so they don't grow up acting like people in their families, JERK!!!
9:40 - Underachieving? Northwest ranks in the top 50 of approximately 1,250 school districts in Texas. If you're opposed to additional funding for the district, at least choose a reasonable basis for your objection.
10:01 am just "spoke volumes" to prove he/she teaches at NWISD. I used to work at NWISD, and although I was getting paid nearly $10K more than other Wise County schools, the pressure was so intense that it wasn't worth the money. You are told constantly by administrators that the "west side" test scores should be comparable to the "east side" even though the demographics aren't comparable. They say "family first", but it isn't your family. I was there from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on holidays and it was never enough. That said, they do have enough money to pay for whatever....
NISD had gotten too big. They shafted all the workers who once got a school retirement and cared about the kids for contractors. Some even being foreign owned like Durham. They sold their souls to Pepsi and corporate sponsorships as well. It was once a great small district, now the kids might as well be going to Northside. Don't blame the teachers, it's the school board and overpaid Sup.
This blog's logic: On the WC front page, Sue Tackel is NOT pictured with or holding a photo of a dog. Therefore, Sue Tackel does not have a dog.
With or without a dog, Sue Tackel is a wonderful person and her deceased husband, Sonny, was one of the best men to walk this earth.
She looks like a cat lady to me, I'm just saying!
Some of the others are correct....My wife spent a year teaching in the NWISD. Sure they paid her more, but she was up there most nights until 6 or 7 at night. There were also many weekends that we spent up there getting things ready. It is all about the appearance of everything being perfect when the employees are being worked like dogs.
Are there school districts where teachers aren't overworked? (Serious question... I don't think that problem is unique to Northwest.)
With all the money NWISD gets off their gas wells and Pepsi sponsorship, they should not be driving their teachers into the ground.
Yes. All of them. Rage
