Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Some kid allegedly brought edible weed to Seven Hills Elementary in Wise County.
  • I loved the Dick Van Dyke show with Mary Tyler Moore. I couldn't get enough of the re-runs as a kid. And it was a very smart comedy which still holds up.
  • But I never really watched the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Side note: Does Fox 4's Steve Eagar have a little Ted Baxter in him?
  • Any of my email addresses that end with wisecounty.com have been down for about a week. They got the website back up but not the email. Verio is a horrible hosting company.
  • Did you see the Fed Ex truck get hit by a train. It seems like Fed Ex trucks are always in wrecks -- especially in icy weather.
  • If you think Trump is going to build a wall and Mexico is going to pay for it "one way or another", I feel very sorry for your naivety. (Heck, the government can't ever complete construction of I-35.)
  • I thought Republicans hated edicts via Executive Orders
  • A guy beat up his lawyer for losing a child custody case. And the lawyer seemed more concerned about his coffee.
  • Radio talk show host and Trump apologist Mark Davis yesterday: "This should also be settled: waterboarding is not torture."  I've heard of people supporting torture in some situations but I've never heard anyone say waterboarding isn't torture.
  • "The release of a Fort Worth police dash cam video of an officer-involved shooting was 'fully within the letter of the law,' Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson wrote Wednesday in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Wilson was responding to a complaint filed with Paxton’s office Tuesday by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas . . . . " She's right. And it's amazing anyone would complain -- especially law enforcement.
  • An aspiring actor from Fort Worth committed suicide on Facebook Live earlier this week?

RTG Three is not a crowd...good job

Obviously you don't understand nor does the press that he can tax flows of goods and capital to and from Mexico to pay for the wall. Also, if you think trump was leading the I 35 construction then you might think it's slow. But he will build this faster than you think. Remember you didn't think he had a shot of being president and you said he would destroy the GOP. Boy are you wrong.

Most FedEx trucks are actually independent contractors who have the right to use the logo, but don't actually undergo FedEx hiring standards or training, hence the anecdotal perception of more accidents since there are a ton of FedEx marked vehicles on the road. I believe that only FedEx Freight marked vehicles are actually run by FedEx themselves, not FedEx Ground or other marked vehicles.

Trump/Muir interview from Republican who still watches ABC and even LIKES Muir--Trump OWNED that interview. First--let's get a good working definition of "Spin" versus "Reality Check".

Spin--not answering a question to avoid looking bad by honestly answering the question (something perfected by Bill Clinton and used by politicians on BOTH sides of the fence).

Reality Check--not answering a question by pointing out the question is not relevant, and that there's a better/more obvious question that needs asking and then honestly answering THAT question.

Yes, I will only paraphrase (fairly) my dialogue below.

On immigration restrictions: Muir--"Won't that make people angry (duh)?" Trump Reality Check--"People are already angry. The world is angry. The entire Middle East is angry--and violent! (And your pointless point is?)"

On Obamacare: Muir--"Can you guarantee that people won't lose their insurance if you make any changes?" Trump reality check--Points out the EXPLOSIVE growth in cost of Obamacare insurance, and how huge numbers of WORKING people ARE LOSING or LOST their coverages outside of Obamacare (in the employers group coverages), and then says he oughta do nothing for two more years and let Obamacare collapse (which you gotta see coming if you're breathing and conscious).

Finally--a crushing rebuttal to the mainline media's "Inaugural Crowd" picture. First, let's be fair. Comparisons should NOT be made to Obama's FIRST inauguration--it was an historic moment, they bused lots of people in for it (and I think that was appropriate due to the historic nature of it), etc. Let's compare it to his second inauguration, and to other presidents. Second, let's use a Trump picture AT THE TIME of the inauguration--while it was going on. How does Trump reveal the media is TOTALLY UNTRUTHFUL in their so-called "pictures of the crowd"? Well it was REAL difficult and complicated (dripping sarcasm here)--he shows TWO pictures of the actual crowd AT THE TIME the inauguration was occurring. One showing the actual DEPTH of the crowd (as opposed to the media's pic), and another showing the WIDTH of the crowd!!

You say all this arguing about the size of the crowd is petty on the part of Trump not agreeing with the mainstream media? I ask, what does it say about the pettiness of the media to show such an obviously inaccurate picture? And how desperate and stupid can you be to lie in a way which is going to be so EASILY caught in the lie? I'll answer--the mainstream media has gone so long with lying and not having someone calling them on it that they've become incredibly careless.

Beware--Trump is not a "typical" politician--he's a businessman. He's not operating under the old, defeatist "Well, I guess you can't fight the media because they're too big" code. Watch out, mainstream media--when you lie, you're gonna be called out as a--LIAR!

That interview was jaw-droppingly positive for Trump, and negative for all the typical, "Politically Correct" mainstream media-types.

Can't wait for my beautiful view of Santa Elena Canyon when the $16,000,000 per mile wall goes in.

Trump's ego will ensure that a wall is built. Will it be a brick and mortar wall extending 1200 miles ? No. But there will be a wall for most of it. He knows he will be blugeoned if he doesn't do this. Good thing.
Count on that one thing if nothing else.
You go man.

If I am registered to vote in Texas and I move to PA, where I register to vote, I am then registered in two states.
Question: Am I supposed to UN-register in Texas? How does one do that?

My wife and I are fairly conservative, and raised as such, but probably younger than most readers. She called me yesterday to ask, "Why aren't Republicans angry about the all the EO's Trump is signing after complaining about Obama's for so long?"

I replied, "Oh honey, you know why. Republicans are hypocrites, same as Democrats."

I was then lucky enough to explain what EO's actually are and actually effect. She was then surprised to learn that Obama actually signed about fewer 15 EO's than Bush... gasp you should.

There is already a wall. And any wall we build keeps nobody out. We figured out how to get around walls back in ancient times, I thought.

Anonymous said...

But Mr. President, how can we build the wall now that you have kicked out all the skilled stone masons, bricklayers, and concrete workers because they were illegals? Do we hire Russians since they have extensive wall experience?

Can we all just agree that the wall is a symbol of Trump's penis size? Who gives a shit? The photos I've seen were both taken at noon, which is the swearing in time, so quit bitching about the time difference. Someone doesn't have confidence in his size and you all are trying to make him feel better about his micro penis.

I believe the type of Executive Order matters more than the number. An EO written to smooth out a piece of legislation? Cool. One written to do an end-around Congress, go against that body's wishes, and legislate from the White House? Not cool.

I'll leave the political ranting to the brain trust, and talk about weed. Imagine how much trouble that kid would be in if he got caught smoking on school grounds!
Why do they always point out that it's edible? Is it so that legalization proponents can say "smoking is bad for you, but ingesting weed in your digestive system is cool, bro"?
I'm not anti-legalization, but weed is a vice. And we all know how humans can be handling their vices!

10:28. The problem is this is exactly what trump cited as illegal. Also kellyanne specifically said she was not registered in 2 states. Steve bannon is also reported to be registered in 2 states so if it is bad for trump opponents shouldn't it be equally bad for trump supporters?

Ummmm....sorry but no. Trump supporters move states for work and life decisions, dem supporters get registered in multiple states and jurisdictions to commit welfare and voter fraud.

Ernest T said...

I am sure that there are thousands of people who are registered in two (or more) states. How many people move an then take the time to call their old state and have them cancel their registration to vote there?

This is a non-issue unless the people are trying to vote in both states. The only way to stop this would be to create a nation-wide voters list instead of each state having one.

Should we be concerned that Trump will get us into a war with our neighbor, Mexico?

Love how NISD spins the marijuana story. NISD has been pot heaven since some of their school board attended there. People were pulling their kids out of there to attend neighboring districts years ago. This is the same district that chose to contract out their work third party to cleaners that included the pervert janitor who died at prairie view of self asphyxiation. Newark kids have been the supply of Mary Jane at NISD since the Carter Administration. Only now do they put on an act of shock and disgust.
