That Trip To Denton This Morning Is A Little Tough

 156 to 380? That's over four miles.

Especially for the people who are injured, or suffered horribly before dying, or getting phone calls about loved ones. Hope the poor folks who have to drive a different route between Denton and Decatur this morning are OK, though, and aren't too inconvenienced.

Yeah, it's over four miles because the access points to that stretch of road where the wreck is are spaced that far apart. Simple.

156 to I35 W.

380 is the road that is closed.

The reason why is there are very few alternate routes north and south along that stretch of road especially to the north, and the routes that do exist are less than quality roads, not really made for 18 wheelers, rock trucks and that kind of heavy traffic.

Care flight and air evac will fight over it

When accidents happen between County Line Road all the way to I35, take the Old Stony Road off 380, which goes south a short distance, then parallels 380 slightly to the south all the way to 156, then turn left on 156 and immediately right onto Jim Christal Road and follow your nose. It turns into the split of Oak and Hickory right before Bonnie Brae, and goes straight into the square of Denton. It avoids every bit of 380 to I35, and is extremely straight for a county road. Look at Google Maps and you will be amazed how direct it is.

2:16, the better work-around was to take FM156 north to Krum, and then FM1173 east to I-35. Old Stoney and Jim Crystal are both 35mph county roads, whilst FM156 and FM1173 are newly-paved Farm-To-Market highways, with speed limits of 60, out of town.
