And The Police Chief Thinks It Was Unintentional?

Unintentional doesn't mean it wasn't still negligent.

Police are taught to shoot center mass, and with buckshot from a shotgun at that range, if he wanted to kill him then he did a piss poor job.

Anyone in the military has seen this type of thing before. Keep your booger picker off the trigger until you're actually ready to fire.

Accident or not that video is BAD. Also it says he hurried to render aid. He never touched the guy except to pull his feet out. I am 1000% pro cop but man that guy is best case a complete idiot!

Pointing the weapon at the alleged perp...safety off.

Yep, that's an accidental shooting.

How do you like the "oh shit" look on the officer's face in the book in pic?

Am I the only one that sees the little black critter crawl across the road, up the side of the SUV, then the roof of the house before flying away? It appears to be some demon critter.

I guess he happened to be grilling in the hood, on the street? Just happened to have a huge fork in his hand!

Star Telegram story seemed well written and based on the officers immediate reaction I can buy the negligent discharge angle.

This guy probably doesn't need to work in law enforcement anymore and a conviction seems appropriate

If you fail at everything else in life, you can always become a cop.

Come on Barry. Anyone can look at that video and the reaction of the officer immediately after the shooting and tell that it was accidental. The officer nearly jumps out of his uniform. But of course you look at all law enforcement as if they are all out to do harm.

I kind of like the video of the white 15 year old skull full of mush Black Lives Matter protester at a Trump rally getting a face full of mace after punching a guy.

There are no "accidental" discharges in law enforcement. One receives the proper training on to handle the weapons that are issued to you; therefore they are now labeled NEGLIGENT discharges. You pull the trigger you own that round.

As a LE firearms instructor and as a supervisor, I can say that this is tragic, 100% preventable, negligent, and accidental. The officer should be fired, and possibly charged with Deadly Conduct. Hell, the more I think of it, maybe Aggravated Assault should be the right charge-- Negligence is a culpable mental state of Assault, after all. Damn.
The whole point of having a shotgun is to make sure that if you have to shoot, you will have addressed the target once and for all. There is no excuse for having had the finger on the trigger at that point.

@ 3:08 pm If that didn't work out you could always become a half-assed defense attorney who spends him time making disparaging references to law enforcement instead of growing a set and showing us all how it should be done.

I think he had what is called "deer fever" syndrome except the deer was a man...he got excited and his finger accidentally pulled the trigger, kind of like my fingers thinking for me and misspells word...it's an accident..he didn't mean to do it = unintentional.
