I Report. You Decide.

A faithful reader saw this car yesterday in Fort Worth and convinced me to ask other readers this: What the heck are those things?

Edit: Getting lots of comments that these are license plate readers. Really?

I'm pretty sure that those are digital antennae, and the occupants of the car are driving around, checking cellular tower strength, signal clarity, and data upload/download strength, in preparation for their network to be fully high-speed 4G.
Usually are occupied by Indians (dot, not feather), Pakistanis, and maybe a Burmese or two.

Those are Chico's own invention. It is called the auto dog leash tethering device. For dogs on the go so to speak.

if only you were fair and balanced.

Those are license plate readers. A lot of private companies (repo, tow truck, etc.) are contracted by other data-gathering companies to place the readers on their vehicles as they drive around during normal business hours.

They are weaponized lasers to zap cars that are giving you trouble.

I don't have them on my van yet, but I'm saving up.

That's one of those cars that drives around tracking people's movements by recording their license plates. They are all over in DFW and other cities; funded by companies that want to know more about where you are.
