Paradise, Texas Pastor Fears New Athletic Director Might Fire Coaches

Secondly, I am inviting all concerned people to a Sunday afternoon, March 3rd, Community Rally for our coaches at the new high school gymnasium at 5:00 p.m. Many community leaders will have the opportunity to speak words of testimony and affirmation for our coaches and their families. The evening will climax with a time of prayer. If you care I urge you make attending this rally a priority. I know this is short notice but I felt holding such a meeting going into Spring Break would be pointless. We will hear from athletes, booster club members, parents, along with others. Mainly we will pray and support our coaching families.

From Facebook.

They need to be fired! The girls program is the only one that wins!

Anonymous said...

Who is this guy? And what is his role in public education?

Anonymous said...

Somebody should tell him that the coaches get paid to win!

Anonymous said...

Jesus doesn't give 2 cents about who wins a football game. He's a baseball deity.

Anonymous said...

Maybe the prayers need to be to be produce better athletes, or at least recruit better athletes into the district. Coaches are only as good as their raw materials.

Anonymous said...

"Climax" and "prayer" should never be used in the same sentence.

Anonymous said...

Recruit? I thought that was against district rules? Are you from Decatur?

Anonymous said...

Uh, most of the time a new AD comes in, he does bring his own staff with him. Those in education know this, so those coaches in PISD are probably already looking for new jobs.....you just don't know it yet!

Anonymous said...

Your AD quit bc he was tired of putting up with the bitching parents. Its just like Chico when Hart was there, you have to have talent to win. If you dont have talent, your a 1-9 football team.

There are some good people on the staff at Paradise. I will not argue about that...some years ago my child was a "move in" and was never really excepted from the coaching staff...we gave up on this "wonderfully tight knit" community and moved elsewhere. The coaches aren't the problem it's the "community leaders" calling all the shots. Maybe if they would just let these coaches DO THEIR JOBS and forget about those that were born and raised there getting special treatment and involving politics then just maybe there wouldn't be division on the courts and fields. One thing he said in his facebook post was correct...these parents are at home telling these kids things...that they are better and deserve more play time because they were born and raised there. Before we moved there everyone always said Paradise was cliquish...that was an understatement. I agree that there is much more than just winning, but remember this..when you pick favorites (to walk alongside and teach those "life lessons" to) someone else is getting neglected. When my child was there, there were many students/players that would of benefitted from a coaches attention but for whatever reason, my guess is that they may have been move ins, they didn't get that attention..instead put down and discouraged. Maybe it's time for a change....

I have lived here in the WC all my life and I cannot believed the ramped up weirdness of the folks living here. Is it just me or is it getting cookier every day.

We went to church growing up, which consisted of service, fellowhsip, sunday school and lunch at whatever squat and gobble was slinging the best hash at the time. Everybody pretty much got along no matter what church they attended. Small talk, fun for the kids, and maybe a little small town gossip...but mostly innocent stuff.

Now it is all politicized. This church hates that church, every church trying to move in on public education, preachers spouting off end of the world stuff on social media...and a resurgance of teachings of the old testament in every church. We are turning into the Wise County Talibanny!

Anonymous said...

You gotta have talent to coach too..if you don't know what you are doing and where to play any talent you do have then you're bound to lose

Drop kick me, Jesus, through the goal posts of life. End over end, neither left nor to right. Straight through the heart of them righteous uprights.

I've said this before and I will say it again:

I would have been All-District in football and All-State in basketball if I had attended a Wise County high school. And I didn't even play high school football.

Gawd, I am awesome.

Anonymous said...

He already divided a church, why not divide the town as well?

Anonymous said...

How about they hold their little prayer meeting and ask God for HIS will to be done...hmmm...there's a concept.

Anonymous said...

Paradise is getting to be more cult like than Decatur.

Anonymous said...

If you haven't clicked on the facebook link and read the whole status, do it. Then go and read the previous one (it's public so you can without friending him). He states the whole problem right there. It's not the lack of good coaches, it's not the lack of good athletes, or the students attitudes. It's the long time paradise-ites and their stinky attitudes. They don't have to say a word, it's written all over their faces. They are the driving force behind the division and that is the real problem.

Anonymous said...

You folks need to worry more about SAT scores than how fast your kids can run or how high they can jump. Then maybe we can stop importing doctors from India. I say fire all the coaches and get rid or athletic programs. Put the money and effort into education rather than building bodies to become oil field trash.

Monty Chapman has who he wants already for the job. The last AD was evaluated by the JH and HS Principal. What a joke. Also, the girls AD who runs down his team in the paper, doesnt ride the bus with his girls, refuses to show up until after 10 in the morning is on the hiring comittee. What a joke!! Paradise use to be a good school. It seems that maybe the school board needs to fire the Supt before even starting the search for a New AD.

Anonymous said...

You are the joke! The girls AD does a dang good job! That's what wrong with Paradise today, Idiots like you! The girls must like him because they sure play hard for him!

Confederate Colonel Lingus said...

Who cares?

Anonymous said...

We need more like Ferguson and Buchanan....if the rest had half their heart and love for those kids

Anonymous said...

Any chance we could persuade Paradise to hire Kyle Story?

Anonymous said...

That's funny!!!

Anonymous said...

1:45
Anyone could win with those girls. Plus his assistant does all the coaching. He was the same way at Bridgeport pawned everything off on his assistant and never gave them any credit. Where was he the other night at the JH track meet? He was sitting in the warm press box as the rest of the staff was coaching the kids in the freezing cold. But he is the Supts boy so he can do whatever he wants.

Anonymous said...

HEY 1:30 IF IT WASNT FOR OLIFIELD trash you wouldnt have the resources to help the world go round. this is just a guess but there is probably a gas pipline near your house and it Probably leads right up your ASS!

Anonymous said...

I blame cscope

Anonymous said...

Can we have him back in Bridgeport if Paradise doesn't want him?
Just curious?????

Anonymous said...

Anybody could win with those girls?? You sound like you must be a disgruntled employee that just likes to gripe about anything! Assistant coaches don't get credit or blame, that's why this clown wants to save them all! He should worry about saving the lost. Not coaches

Anonymous said...

He wont come back to Bridgeport. They have no athletes. Look at his stops he has never built anything, just inherits good groups

Anonymous said...

He says, "come to the school board meeting and let your voice be heard." So does that include opinions different than his or only those that bow down to him as the "voice of the low-erd."?

Anonymous said...

People in Paradise don't care about winning. Fortenberry took a team to sate in XC , and then broke a 12 year playoff drought in basketball! The teams that made the playoffs 12 years ago were also coached by him! Lets gripe because he was in the press box at a track meet, or doesn't give his assistants credit! I'm convinced that parents want their kids to be stars, even if they never win!

Dickey Feltersnatch said...

Hey 3:54, How do you get to sate? Is it down around Mexia?

Anonymous said...

What is "OLIFIELD trash"?

Anonymous said...

It's just before you get to Alvoid

Anonymous said...

Nobody's talking if they ain't on the agenda!

Anonymous said...

Amen 3:52! From past experience I would agree with you 100%. He only hears the low-erd when it serves his interests.

Anonymous said...

Two very sad truths:

10:52 AM: Somebody should tell him that the coaches get paid to win!

3:54 PM: I'm convinced that parents want their kids to be stars, even if they never win!

Pride, envy, wrath, sloth... It only takes one to destroy a life. Nothing destroys teamwork more than these. And that's exactly what parents are teaching their children by exemplifying this attitude and behavior.

And you wonder why kids across the nation are acting out insanely.

You might want to listen to the preacher. He has information on the subject that's been valid for thousands of years, but you don't really want to hear it.

To be content in defeat is a much better outcome than the joy of winning. To continue to pursue excellence in the midst of failures is a sign of great character - and eventual success!

Anonymous said...

1:30 you are an idiot!! If I used curse words, I would use them on you!! Some of the nicest people I know work in the oil field and I'm proud to know them...

Anonymous said...

If you know the supt, it doesnt matter what your opinion is. He is spineless. If his board only knew the things he has pulled. He wasnt a good HS Principal, so what did Paradise do? They move him into admin. He did the last AD wrong. However, the board has stood around and let it happen. Paradise is suppose to be financially strapped, what do they do? They add more admin positions while cutting teachers. This place is a joke.

Anonymous said...

Folks in Paradise are really clannish. Attend any of their churches and that is quickly established.

Anonymous said...

There have been great coaches there in the past that have left because of the ridiciulous parents and there are still some greeat coaches on that staff that may end up leaving for the same reason. It takes an entire community working together to build successful athletic programs and that's not the case in Paradise right now.

Anonymous said...

nothing like a good old climax in a church!

Anonymous said...

Wise County regularly runs off anyone who attempts to better the schools!

Look at recent history in the likes of Decatur, Boyd, and now Paradiste

Anonymous said...

Neither Paradise or Decatur are close to Boyds success

Anonymous said...

If you think the former superintendent of Boyd ISD was trying to "better" The district, then you are very misinformed. He was an egotistical maniac with a crazy wife who he hired as a counselor but acted like asst. supt. Since his departure the teachers, parents, students and administrators have thrived! The morale is 100% up and people are working together. 6:32 must be a Wise Co. Supt hoping to keep his job (Chico??)

Anonymous said...

You must have lost all time! If its about character go to a private school!

Anonymous said...

Ok so where are the role models for our kids to follow? Jerry springer made lots of money ofF of people just like a lot of you, For someone to disrespect Any hard working citizen is unfathomable! And name calling and mud slinging At your neighbors is Really something to be proud of. It is adversity that shows true character... And boy you character is showing:( it's a sad day to be a Paradise alum...

Anonymous said...

Chapman needs to be gone! He is has been at Paradise way too long! He was a terrible HS principal and even worse Superintendant! He is a hypocrite that needs to move on or be relieved of his duties by the board.

Anonymous said...

Paradise...the new chico.

Anonymous said...

You know, if a church believes God will get involved in local coaching decisions through vigorous praying, does that church also believe prayers can stop the next bad wreck? Or open a car door so that a toddler can escape a hot car instead boiling to death?

Anonymous said...

Paradise may be the lowest school in wise county at this point. METH used by the schools finest. I hear they will hire a real GODLEY person. good luck with that

Anonymous said...

We are hiring somebody from Godley???

Anonymous said...

Maybe the school can buy the coaches trucks to drive to their new jobs.

Anonymous said...

Ban paradise.

Anonymous said...

Everybody in Paradise already thinks they are God.

Anonymous said...

You mean like he did from his old church?? Maybe it was God who told him to keep the truck anyways!

Anonymous said...

Way to keep the ball above your head Kaylee, if you bring it down low that's where it will get stolen.

Hey everybody. Let's slow down and look at this objectively. We have a man of God proclaiming he knows what is best for our community. I mean, who is going to argue with the guy who has a direct link to the big guy upstairs. He has obviously used this link to his advantage before. God called him away from Paradise to Seminole. A mega church with a tv ministry. They gave him the down payment for a home. Two years later, God called him back to Paradise. His faithful minions flocked to his side and he's back in business. Obviously this qualifies him to dictate who is the new AD.

As I read all of these post the thought comes to mind of how easy it must be to sit back and make bold statements from the comfort of your home. However to attend a school board meeting on march 18 @ 6:30 would probably not be as easy to do. For those of you who have an opinion whatever it is and then post it anonymously what does that prove. This preacher that some of you are so easy to judge is my brother my friend and one thing is for certain he has chosen to take a stand maybe you should to. Signed Ben Sanders

Wyatt Earp is my friend!

Coaches are not paid to produce winning teams anymore. They are hired and kept in cotton as long as they play the "right" kids and kiss the "right" asses! There is no integrity in coaches anymore.

Parents of students will be the destruction of successful schools. All parents know what is best and their kid never ever does anything wrong and should always be the star of the team.

Being an educator in these times truly sucks!

Anonymous said...

Ahhh Shaddup

Anonymous said...

Has any of the facts stated in previous posts been inaccurate about your preacher, your friend? Did FBC not help him acquire a truck that he promptly drove off to Seminole, where God had called him? Did a lady in Seminole not deliver an envelope to his temporary residence with over one thousand dollars in it to help him buy a home? Did he not stand in front of his church in Seminole and profess that God had called him back here? I don't think those are "bold" statements. I would say it's the truth. If you need a refresher in the truth check out your preacher, your friend's blog. The details are in there.

Anonymous said...

What does any of that have to do with him asking a community to pray for the board to let God lead them in their decision? I'm pretty sure the bold statements that Ben was talking about were more about the ones being said about Mr. Chapman, the coaches and the people of Paradise, not his friend. If you believe all the coaches should go, go to the meeting and tell them. If you think Mr. Champman should go, go the meeting and tell them. If you think Coach Fortenberry should go, go to the meeting and tell them. If you think the problem is all the parents, go to the meeting and tell the parents that are there that. Even if you don't care if the AD is a man that follows God I would hope everyone would want the man to lead the athletes in PISD to be a respectable man that puts the welfare of his athletes first.

Anonymous said...

To all the people that think you are just going to show up at the board meeting and have and open forum, might want to go read how those meetings work.

Double Fake Ben Sanders

Anonymous said...

You have to show up a little early and sign a form to speak to the board. You can even go way early (a few days) and sign a form to speak to them privately.if approved you then get 5 minutes to speak to them.

Anonymous said...

Proud of you Ben Sanders for NOT hiding behind "anonymous"and putting yourself out there along with your preacher. It takes guts to stand by people sometimes. The simple truth is we are afraid to do so because of the negative attention that comes with it. People have been very angry on this blog. It's sad to see that people aren't arguing the "real" point. It's about people that are really cared and respected by our community and our children that deserve to keep their jobs. I feel sorry for that last person that is holding a grudge against that preacher. Last time I checked we are all human. I hope that person will find forgiveness when they need it. Thank you again Ben Sanders.

If you would read the post from the preacher you would see that he asks for you to follow the required steps to be heard at the board meeting.

Anonymous said...

"So, these folks moved their kids from Bridgeport over to Paradise and are now unhappy there... where to next?"

Excellent point.

You mean like you just did???

It seems that everyone is an expert on here...expert idiots maybe. Mind you own business. If you don't have a kid at Paradise then what do you care? Being judgmental WILL come back to bite you in the ASS!
