Ok, this is besides the point, but is anyone else confused about that rope set up? That ain't a bungee cord. That's a rope. For 90% of this video I was saying to myself, "She's going to jump and swing on a rope that is tied to a cliff on the other side? Won't that just swing her into the side of the cliff? " I'm stunned this didn't turnout to be a Wyle E. Coyote stunt gone wrong.

If she had died I think 210 years would be just about right.
Several years ago a group of people did something similar to this off of a bridge (8 people bundled in one jump). Unfortunately, none of them bothered going to physics class, and most of them died when their grossly undersized cable snapped.
The rest of the story...insane rope jump cliff video of how they set it up.. http://www.ydr.com/sports/ci_22695255/cliff-jump-rope-swing-boyfriend-pushes-girlfriend
btw...No way in hell do I believe they shot an arrow to anchor the other end of the rope. It had to be anchored way better than that.
And, yeah, it was really douchey of him to push her. My father did that with my mom, the first time she skydived, and she never forgave him. (Though she did marry him, later.)

If it was gonna be soooo cool, why didn't the big puss boyfriend do it?

there weren't really any sympathetic characters in this story. If the gal didn't think she could do it, why did she get all trussed up for it?
This one was shown on the Today show this morning. Everyone agreed that it was staged. You can hear her too clearly for her to be so far away.
CBS just picked up this Wise County ordeal... thought you might want to see if it goes viral.

Fake!
Fake? All the people that think that the moon landing was staged are on this blog this afternoon.
I especially like the comment by the doofus that thought they were implying that the rope was held in place by an arrow! Classic LL commenter!
a) You don't want any stretch in the rope for that kind of jump.
b) The arrow is just to get the first (light) rope across, then you pull bigger ropes and set the anchors.
staged
The guy who pushed her is a pretty well-known rope guy, and helped Devin Graham make this amazing rope swing video.
He did jump, before. That's what they do.
