Random Friday Morning Thoughts

  • Funny tweet yesterday: "Dow closed above 13,000 Nasdaq above 3000 and SandP 500 above 1400 together for first time ever. MAKE THIS AWFUL SOCIALISM STOP"
  • Mrs. LL loves to mow the lawn, and I don't know why. Anyway, I plop down in my chair to watch the Baylor game yesterday evening with a nice breeze blowing in from the open windows to the back yard. And then . . . the violent sounds of a lawnmower firing up.
  • But instead of walking outside and giving her a what-the-heck-are-you-doing look, I paused the game and did something else for a few minutes. (I'm learning. Slowly. But I'm learning.)
  • I almost wished I hadn't seen the first part of the game. Baylor was down 12 to a bunch of white boys who couldn't miss.
  • Mrs. LL was surprised to learn that the name she heard on TV was the Shockers of Wichita State.
  • The best ending in regulation did not come during March Madness but instead in a Tennessee boys high school playoff game.
  • "Where's your Green Card? (Clap. Clap. Clap-Clap.Clap.)" -- Members of the Southern Miss band yesterday when K-State's Angel Rodriguez was at the free throw line.
  • There was a media war last night when Fox 4 had footage of a firefighter being arrested and then spent about a minute explaining, "We weren't tipped off! We we just happen to be there when the cops came!"  Channel 8 covered the arrest and spent a segment on "Something's fishy because one media outlet was tipped off."
  • Cops tipping off the media for an arrest or search sounds very familiar.
  • Good weather and the 17th falling on a Saturday means potential record crowds for the St. Patrick's Day gathering at Lower Greenville tomorrow. And to think of the irony of the "Drink Responsibly" signs that will be posted above the crowd.
  • One reason the Department of Justice challenged the Texas Voter ID law is because of the large number of Texans that don't have a driver's license. Some folks are suggesting that the high number is attributable to the dumb DPS Surcharge program that has caused thousands of people to lose their license because of non-payment.
  • There's a Decatur company that advertises for a Engineering & Maintenance Manager paying $60,000 to $85,000 a year?
  • It's amazing that Dallas PD runs undercover prostitution stings on Harry Hines in the middle of the day. But they did manage to snag an elementary school teacher

A basic fact that the media fails to recognize:

The economy and the stock market are not the same thing.

Obammy's buddies on Wall Street love socialism. The rest of us hate $5 a gallon gas, high food prices, electricity rates about to skyrocket, Obammy's war of choice in Afghanistan ready to unravel, Iran getting a nuke or several, being lied to about only having 2 per cent of the worlds oil reserves etc etc etc.

These girls don't eat bacon. They are bacon.

But I tell ya', they look like they'd be real comfortable to lay on top of.

What point are you trying to make about the engineering job for $60 -$85K? That the salary is not worthy of a BS degree in engineering? Or that there would possibly be a job other than a parasitic lawyer job in Wise County valued at that much. Hypocritic liberal!

Tell Mrs. LL to imagine "wheat" before "Shockers." Although, Bevis and Butthead would be proud of her. Twelve beats five again.

The great Lynn Kawano of Fox 4 used to play ice hockey with some DPD officers. Hey, dummies at WFAA, that's called developing sources. You may want to try it sometime.

Yes, there are "degreed" folks in Wise County that have a salary within range.

The requirement for a driver's license or other state issued id smacks of a "poll tax" and they've been declared unconstitutional.

Good call, 10:51! Hilarious!

For anyone interested... the comment was posted by "D Stephen." It's worth a look!

Is Barry a closet chubby chaser??

Ironically, the Southern Miss band was chanting that at a Puerto Rican.

Insert yĆ³ur jokes about people from Mississippi.

Wrong 11:30 -

The requirement for a driver's license or state-issued identification smacks of someone having to prove two things in order to vote in this country:

1. They are actually who they claim to be

2. They are actually in this country legally.

Glad I wasn't gullible enough to fall for that KONY 2012 scam.

Especially, since the instigator who started the whole thing was.....

Oh Yeah, he has credibility. LOL

That middle one would be Spam on a Bacon scale. She might be a candidate, but only if it is "low self esteem" night at Frillys.

Having your wife mow the lawn is "More awesome than a monkey wearing a tuxedo made out of bacon riding a cyborg unicorn with a lightsaber for the horn on the tip of a space shuttle closing in on Mars, while ingulfed in flames'.

The job you are poking fun at is a lot more demanding and constructive than a drunk/divorce lawer could understand.I would hope a raise in a year would be in the offer.

"Funny tweet yesterday: "Dow closed above 13,000 Nasdaq above 3000 and SandP 500 above 1400 together for first time ever. MAKE THIS AWFUL SOCIALISM STOP"

but ya gotta love that $4 gallon of gas and $4 gallon of milk.

Prostitution and its solicitation is such an odd crime. For one thing, it's legal in much of the world, and in parts of our own country. You can give it away for free...and it's not a crime. You can pay for it with dinner, drinks, or something else instead of cash, and it's not a crime. A man and a woman can get married solely for a sugar arrangement; basically a long term prostitution contract, and it's not a crime. You can pay cash to join club, and it's not a crime. Etc. Etc. Yet ask someone in a bar for a few bucks, or offer a few bucks for it, and you're a criminal.

9:49 I have been preaching that for years. While I don't condone prostitution it is a waste of time/money to make it illegal. The only person it hurts are the two parties engaged in wreck less behavior. It should be their business.

2:06, I pay 7 a gallon for milk at Buchannon's, so stop your bitching.
