The Man Comes To The Aid Of Hispanics

More

"[W]e conclude that the total number of registered voters who lack a driver’s license or personal identification card issued by DPS could range from 603,892 to 795,955. The disparity between the percentages of Hispanics and non-Hispanics who lack these forms of  identification ranges from 46.5 to 120.0 percent. That is, according to the state’s own data, a Hispanic registered voter is at least 46.5 percent, and potentially 120.0 percent, more likely than a non-Hispanic registered voter to lack this identification. Even using the data most favorable to the state, Hispanics disproportionately lack either a driver’s license or a personal identification card issued by DPS, and that disparity is statistically significant."

Gee I don't suppose "the man" as you call him would be doing this particularly for his gain? No, surely he wouldn't want to guarantee hispanic voters who aren't citizens the right to vote as long as they vote for him? Of course not! "the man" is going to ruin this country if folks don't wake up and smell the b.s. pretty soon!

The law would be fine if it was patterned after the one at Indiana that made it easy for citizens to obtain the required ID.

Instead, Texas forces voters to wait hours in line at DMV to obtain an ID.

I understand that in Houston, you HAVE to have a SSN to buy car insurance, UNLESS you are hispanic and then it is not required.

Hmmmm...

Aren't all LEGAL ADULTS required by law to carry some form of state issued ID?

Anonymous said...

11:44 Yes, unless you're Hispanic.

Anonymous said...

No. We aren't a police state . . . yet.

This is as ridiculous and partisan as it appears. Think about every transaction where you've had to present a photo ID, from renting a video to paying with a check. Democrats think verification of identity for voting is less important than for those activities.

What we have here...is failure or lack of common sense. There's lies, damned lies, and statistics.

- DF Captain Clemens

It's clear that the administration is more concerned with the political gain from using statistical methodology than from using reason to inquire as to why these folks lack documentation.

The state law isn't denying anybody the ability to vote. It's simply saying that when you do show up, prove who you are and that you're eligible to vote

A person who isn't responsible enough to own a piece of state-issued ID probably shouldn't be voting in the first place. I realize there are plenty of folks - probably myself included - that aren't informed enough to make responsible decisions when voting. But I would imagine that the majority of people without state ID are also in that category

They lack a social security card also because they are ILLEGAL ALIENS. No supposed to be here!!!Filthy, lying scumbag liberals are destroying this country. If they want to live in a third world country, they should move to central america. The only to stop the destruction of Texas is to SECEDE!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh, cut the crap already!

You need an ID to do so many meaningless things in this country.....heaven forbid you should have an ID to do something actually important!

The MAN needs to send CHICO back to Mexico.

The man was also protecting the elderly who do not have a drivers license nor can afford to the gas to get a TX ID card at DPS in Decatur.

Not going to be a big deal with Wise County mexicans, mostly this bill will protect Granny Smith in the old house on Trinity who does not have a car or licence but still votes with her card.

Anonymous said...

Yes, BigTex! The corruption has nearly reached fever-pitch. How far do we have to go before things tip over? Personally, I believe the powers that be actually want exactly that to happen in order to move in the troops and clean house.

I also wonder how good liberals like Barry and Ken Hughes will feel when they see storm-troopers pulling neighbors from their homes and carting them off to re-education camps or simply gunning them down in their front yards. Can't happen here? Don't kid yourself.

We do not live in a civilized society. No one does because in reality there is no such thing.

Have a nice day.

SO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING IS, I GOT TO HAVE AN I.D. TO BUY A SIX PACK OF BEER, BUT NOT TO VOTE! THAT'S CRAZY, WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? TO GET THE ILLEGAL VOTE?

Remote Controller said...

So Texas goes for preclearance to the Justice Department (Required under the Voter's Rights Act) without showing how it may aid and not be a detriment the Hispanic population.

If your pissed about the Hispanic population, do it under immigration laws, not voting laws. Texas has a ton of holes in this bill and probably knew it wouldn't pass. It was just propaganda for the public. If it passed, Hooray!!!, if not, well we tried.... Damn The Man!!!!

If you think it is a simple solution to "just" show ID, then don't put other ethnic demographics in it for statistics, open your branches to later or earlier hours a couple times a month and make some of the DPS stations more accessible to those in the lower population areas. (it was lined out by the DofJ)

Than pass the bill like you mean it.

A DL is not needed in order to have a photo ID. There is a card that is simply called Identification card.

Nice try 1:05. Anyone can obtain a ride to DPS to get one. No DL required.

Chad Dunn, a lawyer for intervenors in the court case, including Texas Rep. Marc Veasey, D-Fort Worth, said that Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott "has been unable to document one case of voter impersonation"...

The Justice Department also stated the State failed to demonstrate a need for the requirement as no documented case of real voter impersonation has been presented by the State.

As in any war, you have to destroy the country before you can take it over.

Why has our military not arrested the ILLEGAL ALIEN in the White House???

The right wing fears 2020.

On a personal note: My wife family is Tejano going back six generations. Some of the old timers never learned english or bothered with ID's. They got along fine until the mass immigration of ultra conservatives from other parts of the country (native Texans know what I'm talking about).

Many of her family voted republican after Reagan took office. Some even sided with Perry (daddy?) until the anti-terrorism agenda was hi-jacked and turned into and anti-hispanic/mexican agenda.

Point is that the legislation affects people which do not appear to be the primary targets (or has the right wing been playing folks for fools?)

Regardless, the U.S. Supreme Court has already decided this one in the Indiana voter ID case a few years ago.

BigTex said...

"If your pissed about the Hispanic population, do it under immigration laws, not voting laws"

Immigration laws are federal laws. Every time a state tries to do something about these criminals the flop eared thug stops them. We are under attack by our own government. We need a different government.

Please join a secession movement of your choice. Its the only way to stop these filthy illegal aliens. Countries have always split at one time or another.

This is our time.

Ricardo,

Yes, the right wing plays us for fools, but the left plays us for idiots. You think you're free? You think the left has better intentions than the right? They're playing a game inside your own head. Good luck with that.

The carpenters I contract with don't have ID's either. I have to make the checks to someone they know who is legal or a citizen. I guess they can vote but can't cash a check.

Anonymous said...

12:59 -- Really STUPID remark. If they can't get someplace or have the resouces to get a valid ID, how are they going to get somewhere to vote? Now, just think before you answer. If you say someone will carry them to vote, the same someone can carry them to get an ID.

My 93 & 94 year old grandparents (white, if it makes you feel better to know they are white) haven't driven in 15 years. No drivers' licenses, no passports. They had the right to vote until last year. So, because of our idiots in Austin, two Republicans can't vote. It's a stupid law regardless of race.

Stop by the DPS on your way to vote and get them an ID.

Anonymous said...

4:38 How do they get to polling places? Use the same method to go get an ID!

You are truly a simpleton.

Que?

Anonymous said...

4:38, you are full of it. My elderly mother did not drive but got an ID issued by the State of Texas. There is no age restriction for an identification card issued by the State. It comes in handy for a non driver who wants to write a check, or vote.

How much does a Texas ID card cost?

Anonymous said...

Vast amounts of ignorance on display here.

Strike One: Texas Republican Super majority was going to loose the redistricting maps. Waste of time and tax dollars for Texas Taxpayers

Strike Two: Texas Republican super majority lost the right to strong arm and intimidate voters and minorities that tend to vote Democrat.

Strike 3: The Sonogram bill that infringes on a Woman's right to choose and as I see it, Government Rape, will be ruled as unconstitutional in the supreme court.

So does this mean they're out?

Anonymous said...

It costs a minimum of 6 dollars for an ID over age 60. Some people are choosing between gas and groceries vs. prescriptions. It may be only 6 dollars to you, but to an elderly person it might mean choosing. This law should not be aimed at the elderly. It was used as a weapon against Mexicans, but will hurt a lot of good elderly folks right in Wise.

Seems like you liberal Democrats tried to block votes from the military a couple of elections back. The courts kicked your ass. Now you want to let illegals vote. But you try to block the military. I ain't stupid, got your number.

If you're grandparents don't have an ID, then shame on you for not taking them to get one!! If it's a matter of cost then again shame on you!! How many ball games and amusement parks and fairs have they hauled you butt to? It's hard to document voter fraud when you can't ask for ID!!!!! Voter fraud has been proven time and again, anybody remember hearing about the dozens of people that voted in 08 , curiously they were previously issued death certificates!!!

In Mexico every registered Mexican voter has a voter ID card, complete with photograph, fingerprint, and a holographic image to prevent counterfeiting

At Little Diaper preschool, we have a id card, complete with picture too.
