Next time you fly commercially, assuming you have or will fly commercially, pay attention to when the engines are started and stopped relative to when the passengers board and deboard. The cabin is closed prior to engines starting and engines are stopped prior to the cabin being opened.

A pilot is responsible for the safety of everyone in and around his plane. This doesn't happen to good pilots.

for all you parents out there who are frustrated with the raise of our superintendent, be patient. I am from roanoke and we went through the same pains. what is going to happen is that more outsiders are going to move into the town and change the make up of the voting community. The current board members are voted in because "their daddy was a good man" or "he grew up here, or even better "he was a hell of an athelete". I really dont think there is a qualified person on the board. Sure you have some doctors and lawyers, but they are only serving their own interests. If I am not mistaken, one person on the board has a family member who is an administrator in the school system. (conflict of interest?) Be patient, stay on their ass and expose their stupidity. When their child strikes out at bat everytime, throws 10 interceptions per game, or makes the basketball team when they can barely dribble, we can all sit back at laugh at the real reason they are on the team. After all, their fathers are good ol boys which make them outstanding school board members.When they graduate, they wont have any interests in being a school board member anymore and maybe some talent will move into the community to change our miserable schools.
