I'm not sure why this is even posted. I think you should get ample time to celebrate the holidays with your family and closing a day before at noon doesn't seem excessive.
@1:15pm - tell that to my employer. Normal work day on Wednesday. Oh, to work for the govt. Move at work like I'm stuck in glue and get every holiday off and some you've never heard of.
2:08, I don't see anything wrong with them closing for the holiday, regardless of who pays their salary. I agree with 2:18. They take too many "unheard of" holidays, but in this case I don't see the problem.
12:49, I assume you’re taking a stab at humor; but your comment illuminates a curious fact: The risk of arrest is often more of a deterrent to DWI than the risk of property damage, bodily harm, or death. Those of us who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver find that disturbing.
The DPS has been off duty ever since Ole Super Trooper Tom Bishop with his dog catcher pickup got elected. He's been doing thier job and the DEA,FBI,ICE, City Police, and the county law job. He's brought in more DWI people than all of them.
4:23 sure has a hard on for Bishop. All your negative comments on here are free advertising to get him re elected. Just because the administration will be off early today doesn't mean the troopers aren't working, dah. I'm sure their out in full force for the holiday travel. Wine, Wine, Wine!

The office is closed. Troopers still out there.
1:15 PM
Maybe because taxpayers pay their salary, and it's the job they voluntarily chose?

Thank goodness Gov. Goodhair, Phil King and the rest of the Repugnicans in charge have cut the waste out of state agencies.
