Congressional Redistricting Tired Head

Since a federal court said the state Republican lawmakers [hereinafter referred to as "The Man"] tried to screw minorities in the constitutionally mandated redistricting after the last census, that court today released a new map which will at least be in place for next year's elections. (I think.) The above graphic depicts how Wise County will be impacted by the new map in the Congressional House elections.

I want to see the candidate for District 26 who appeals to Denton County and the Newark area of Wise County.

Throw all the rascals out! Every encumbent needs to go down. Now that would be a message.

In favorability pools, Congress tops only Fidel Castro, yet we idiots keep sending our ourn back again and again.

It has to start with us.

Wow - talk about getting the shaft. How about the rest of Wise County in a district that goes all the way to the Oklahoma border. Lots of luck getting any representation out of that district. The legislature tried for years to put us into Mack Thornberry's district and couldn't do it - now the federal courts have succeeded.

District 33 looks like an upside down Bart Simpson head swigging a jug of whisky.

A federal Justice decided,... I'm sure he/she is completely unbiased.

Let us get this straight. When Democrats jerrymander districts to give minorities a more than natural voice it is ok but when Republicans redistrict it is a screwing?Any party that makes districts that don't follow normal boundaries like counties, cities, number of people, etc. is in error. Just look at the shape of the districts and tell me what is involved.
Minorities do not deserve special districts any more than the rest of us.

And how much do you think a Brigeport/Decatur resident has incommon with a Dalhart citizen? Think the guy in the panhandle high plains cares if we have a lack of water issue here?

Other than the first sentence, where the F else do you refer to The Man in that blog post?

well, we in the western and northern part of Wise are still screwed, too. Who wants to be in a dsitrict with Amarillo??

I don't think that the SE part of Wise county should be with Denton county. If separated it should be with Tarrant or Parker County.

@12:02 -
Your naïveté is almost charming, but your generalization of the problem - and the solution - is lacking in common sense. You're saying we should replace ALL of the politicians. That means nobody we elect would have any experience in politics on a national level. Sounds like a perfect plan! Plus, there's the assumption that there's a group of folks waiting in the wings who are not only willing, but who meet your standards of governance that are lacking in the incumbents
And what's the alternative to "sending our ourn back", assuming that means "our own". Trained chimps? (No, there's already too much poop flinging in DC)

Fidel Castro? Really?!? He's not even a blip on the radar, unless you live in Miami

Triple Fake

What evidence supports returning your so called "experienced". Whatever is waiting in the wings and vetted by an election can't be worse that what you are so willing to let continue.

We have a shot, that those waiting in the wings are not already corrupted by special interest. And if they aren't effective, throw the rascals out!

Speaking of naive, name me one of your darlings that you actually respect and are certain they are not in the pockets of a special interest group.

Neil Durrance could get 26. Burgess wont care about Newark.

I dont consider the solution an either/or proposition. And I never said the current system was perfect, but starting with an entirely new crop sounds like the perfect recipe for chaos.
And complaining about special interest groups is naive. They're people with a common interest pursuing their agenda. Would you like to negate the influence of AARP, unions, the NRA, and either side of global warming, immigration, and abortion? You're bound to have an opinion on those subjects, so guess what? You're in those special interest groups, and you want whatever side you favor to have your elected representative vote the way you feel.
The most effective method is to look at the slate and pick the person you think is going to represent you the best. Sometimes, it's the incumbent. If you want to pick none of the incumbents, that's your right. Don't hold your breath expecting the rest of us to follow suit

I'm done now

The same old tired weenie mantra. Women and minorities affected most.

I should probably point out an oversight on my part. Since terms are staggered, it's not possible to relieve all of Congress of their jobs at the same time. Any rascal-ousting will take several election cycles to accomplish
