Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • That judge on trial for bribery over in Collin County was actually convicted yesterday. She faces prison or probation, and I'd be a little scared if I were her.
  • Fox 4 was live from the airport this morning covering what looks like a normal day at the airport. What are the odds of broadcasting live from a mall on Friday?
  • Finished my  jog last night and came home to find a huge inflatable Christmas monkey on my lawn.
  • If you don't exactly understand what an "Internet meme" is, here's the recent "Pepper Spraying Cop" becoming one.
  • Newt Gingrich went to the front of the pack (in my opinion) last night in the GOP debate when he said, “I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people who have been here a quarter century, who have children and grandchildren, who are members of the community, who may have done something 25 years ago, separate them from their families and expel them. I’m prepared to take the heat for saying, let’s be humane in enforcing the law without giving them citizenship but by finding a way to create legality so that they are not separated from their families.” Preach on, bruther.
  • And if you known someone for 25 years who began his family as an illegal immigrant, you'll feel the same way -- or there's something very wrong with you.
  • Is there a girl from Paradise on Twitter who has Barefoot in her name who wants to be a model?
  • The Aggies and Longhorns end their rivalry tomorrow. It's like watching old friends get divorced.
  • Mrs. LL, I dare say, may be a bit of a procrastinator, and she decided to be in charge of a big family lunch today.
  • The Drudge Report used to break news (i.e. Lewinsky) and was famous for ending the short basic text news bursts with the "Developing . . . " moniker. It really doesn't do that much any longer. In fact, I can't remember the last time I saw it.
  • Miley Cyrus turns 19 today. Get ready for her to go crazy this year.
  • I'm running the Turkey Trot again tomorrow. I need to count up the years I've done the eight mile race but it has to be around 10. It seems longer. Both the years and the distance.
  • The jokester who sent me the older woman pic yesterday sent me this one last night as an alternative Random Thought Girl to make up for it.

Newt gave a very sensible and compassionate answer.

His candidacy is doomed.

Collin County Judge:
Yeah, right! She won't have a damned thing to worry about. They won't send one of their own to prison.

Google search for "Barefoot Paradise Texas Twitter". Triple D apparently.

Seek and ye shall find, brother Barry.

DPS, RAB, BPort, Rhome PD's must have had Thanksgiving yesterday. There were no arrest in Wise County last night.

Since the cases the Judge tried can't be retried due to double jepordy, can the victims sue the state of TX or Collin Co?

I see the judge could get life for that bribery conviction. Yikes! If she does get time with the DOC, is there protective custody for high profile inmates like there is in the state of New York? I don't see how the DOC can mix her in with the general population. Also, in NY, a felony conviction with a sentence of more than five years gets the defendant a stint in maximum security even if the crime is financial or otherwise non-violent. Double yikes!

Your Random Wednesday Thought Girl is a nice recovery. The East German judge will score you higher for that. I'm okay with the jokester make up call being a repeat. She's quite posh.

It's unfortunate that the Aggies and Mizzou let their money get mad. I hope they enjoy finishing fourth and fifth in the SEC West every year. I know I will and I'm a Pac-12 guy.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and please don't kill the Family Cat.

I agree with the view of newt. So many lovely families that have become a part of the US. However I find it very hard not to despise mexicans who want to live here and not become Americans. Their entitlement attitude is astounding.

Anonymous said...

I don't have a problem with illegals staying in the US as long as they go ahead and apply for citizenship and pay the required amount to do so just like all other immigrants who did it legally. Even if they've been here for 50 years. How would you feel if you did it legally and then all the others were just given blanket amnesty?

Miley Cyrus turns 19...wow, that's some rode hard and put away wet 19 years. In slut years i think that's like 42.

Illegals come from a lawless background (Mexico), don't respect the rule of law, and pass that attitude down to their children, (lots of them by the way), so let's re-enforce that by proving to them illegality results in rewards.

Evidently you lead a sheltered life. You don't know the same illegal alien I do--
First of all, HE made the decision to be illegal all that time. That's not my fault. In the 25 years some have been here and never bothered to learn to speak English You have never been in the emergency room awaiting treatment behind the illegal with no insurance that you are paying for. I could save more than $15,000 a year with no health insurance premiums (even with a high deductible. Also, the family of six with one on the way at the grocery store paying with a Lone Star Card when you are trying to stretch your dollars to the breaking point. My kids can't afford college except by working full time and going to college at night, but illegals get preferential treatment at many colleges, again on my tax dollars. An illegal doesn't need to bother with expensive auto insurance, either. You must have a SS number to register a vehicle, but I watched an illegal merely sign an affidavit stating they had no SS number and register a vehicle without one. At least Texas collected some tax on that one. Life would be a lot cheaper without paying SS taxes and income taxes, too. Don't cry to me about split up families. Just like they made the decision to be illegal all those years ago, they can make the decision to stay together as a family by ALL going back to their home country whose flag they prefer over the U.S. flag.

Funny, I don't know any elitist liberals who actually know any illegal immigrants on this level. They may cut their grass and have had a casual converstation with them but that is about it. Always want to come off on the high ground like you think conservatives do not understand this issue. That is probably your most offensive post to date!

I have spent my entire life being friends with many who started out illegal and some that still are. I still play softball, drink beer, go to parties, quinceaƱeras, weddings, funerals etc. My position, and the position of many others who share my side of the political aisle would never be to throw them out or arrest them. All I want to see is a clear path to citizenship for those who are here and obey the law. Then I want the welfare programs to dry up. Welfare programs are the problem, we are doing to them exactly what we did to the blacks by sticking them in ghettos.

Newt performed a clever political trick, much like what you're trying - to paint everyone who is "against illegal immigration" as someone who wants to break up loving, wonderful, productive families. I don't know of anyone who argues for that. (Just as, contrary to Democrat claims, no Republican wants to kill senior citizens, starve schoolchildren, or poison the environment.)

Is there agreement that illegal immigration is actually a problem? If you don't think so, then you have no urge to solve it. If you agree that it is a problem, then at some point there have to be consequences negative enough to discourage it. Reagan took the "humane" approach and granted amnesty to illegal immigrants in 1986 -- and the problem has simply gotten worse. Incremental steps can be taken, stopping short of destroying the mythical "happy family."

Libs would not stand for illegals living in their neighborhood. The debate is over, the prosecution rests.

These are the bases for the immigration reform bills of both political parties.

But the Tea Partiers will never let it happen. Their beliefs are more correctly summed up above, at 9:53 ad 10:14.

But they're not racists, I know, I know...

There has to be comprehensive immigration reform in one bill. This "wait till the border is secure" is just a way of not dealilng with the problem.

If God removed all the illegals in one swift move, our society would come to a stop!

Those other than God will need one hell of a prision, one hell of a police force, and tax dollars beyond belief.

Anonymous said...

If God removed illegals from our system, DHS teenagers would be working on the farm after school like they used to.

Except prominent Democrats actually put forth the concept of a "death panel" - like mechanism.
- Obama's (until a few minutes ago) head of Medicare Donald Berwick has already admitted that rationing is inevitable, and specifically targeted the terminally ill and those toward the end of their lives as being the subjects of some "difficult conversations" when it comes to healthcare costs.
- Liberal New York Times columnist Paul Krugman admitted that the implementation of death panels "is going to save a lot of money."

Democrats denied the existence of "death panels," then put justifications in place to implement them.

Re:"Newt Gingrich went to the front of the pack (in my opinion)". We Republicans don't need liberal Democrats telling us who should be at the front of the pack. He had me until last night just like I thought White was the man until he opened his mouth and disclosed his view on tuition for illegals. Just because you have continuously violated the laws of the United States for 20 or 30 years does not excuse you. If you rob banks for thirty years does not excuse you for your crime. Robbing Americans of their jobs is inexcusable even if you have done it for 30 years.

Barefoot in Paradise looks as Indian as I do. I'm 1/16 something on my fathers side. Native American to me, unless you look like Crazy Horse or Pocahontas, says I want to suck off the government teat for something that never happened to me. Feel the same way about most anybody who says I am Native American. Aren't Native
Americans actually Asians who migrated here before any other racial group? As for the "but the white people took our/their land group" read some history. Native Americans were killing and displacing each other for their land long before white people arrived in the America's. Your pissed off because Europeans were better at killing and stealing than Native Americans. That is the only difference.

Twitter name IS @Model_Barefoot really sweet girl, very down to earth. Just google Modeling Barefoot or Melinda Barefoot. Her boyfriend is Dusty Womack who owns MVP Motorsports in Bridgeport. Hope she makes it big, she has the looks, and the drive to make it happen. (I follow her on twitter).

I'll create a different post for my immigration views.

You might as well forget about solving the immigration problem. Immigration is the domain of the federal government. Many illegals work with fake ss#'s. Employers withholding and medicare are reported under that fake number but there will never be anyone to collect those benefits so the feds prefer status quo. Medicaid and education for illegals create the largest drain for the individual states. The federal government receives the tax dollars and the states cover the expenses. I am a conservative in favor of immigration reform. Sending all illegals back is not the answer. Without the labor they provide, this country would collapse (see Alabama). We need to figure a way to bring all workers into the system via work visas etc.

I guess I have something wrong with me...

get them out.

WHAT PART OF ILLEAGLE DID I MISS?
When we stop giving them all the free stuff then they will have to get a job go home. Why should I have to pay for them when most of the 25 years they been here it's on my tax money. All they are doing is spreading out them little anchor babies so they can get MORE goverment money for another 25 years. yes it's beyond belief.

Anonymous said...

Barry you can't tell me that it don't make you mad to watch one of the illegals buy stuff with a texas card and then go out and put it in a better car or truck than you have. They know how to work the system better than most due to they never will have a job..

I don't understand what is to debate about ILLEGAL. Not legal!
Maybe I need a better life for my family, yet I cannot provide enough with what little work I get. So I decide to rob banks (illegal)and I do that successfully for 25 years! When I am caught, I say, "oh, I needed this for my family!" I bet the judge/jury will grant me a pardon because my illegal activities were done only in the best interest of my family and keeping them all together. BS!!
How about this: You liberal bleeding hearts all place a nice purple (whatever color you want) flag on your home that will indicate you are more than willing to hand out dollars to those who come to your door. Better yet, anyone who needs shelter, food, etc, is welcome to come share your home for as long as they like. Oh, and don't ever expect them to pitch in and help because YOU feel sorry for their plight and will allow them all their FREEDOMS right there at your expense!

What? No? You are not willing to do that? Well, why in the world NOT?! If you are not willing to do that, then stop berating Americans who want illegals to be here LEGALLY and share in the responsibilities of ALL AMERICANS!

FIRST thing we need to do is make English our official language and stop printing documents, traffic signs, etc in other languages. If your kid can't speak English, then you have one year for you and all your kids to learn it, or NO PUBLIC SCHOOLS for you! Send them to a private school and pay to have someone continue their education.
Why not start there! We have to begin somewhere and I don't think our bleeding heart liberals will open up their homes or wallets!

Anonymous said...

one problem with newt's idea is that even the scumbag lawbreaking illegals have a "family" to break up.

Anonymous said...

If we make illegal immigration really illegal, Obammy will just tell Eric Holder to sue us.

I still say enact the same immigration laws that Mexico has and watch the liberal weenies heads explode. The money we would save on feeding, housing, insuring ourselves against their bad driving behavior, educating, imprisoning and paying for their medical care would be offset by all of the bullets that our armed guards at the border would have to have.(Not really, just threw in a little Ann Coulter humor to lighten things up. Bullets would be a lot cheaper.)

Wow. You are drinking some wacky kool-aid there, dude. The "Aggs" don't want to play any "game" against UT any longer, that's why they are leaving the Big 12. The "game" that sealed it for them to leave is the "get your brand out there" game. The reason the deception and misinformation coming from A&M officials, which of course you consider to be the best source of info, is so that the Aggie faithful will not hold them accountable for making a bad choice regarding a golden opportunity. I may be assuming too much by thinking you know that TAMU was offered the same deal that UT was offered initially, in fact, ESPN's idea was a partnership. It wasn't a good deal, but the difference is that TAMU said "no" and walked away from the table. UT said "we are highly interested, but we need to talk terms." After 2 years at the negotiating table, UT emerges with a $300M deal, with $24M going to academics, etc, etc. TAMU gets squat from the deal because they simply said "no". Nothing regarding TAMU "is the longhorns fault". Would you like a little whine with your cheese?
