I'm Calling Sports Foul

These flags all over Decatur (they read "Eagle Nation"), and I'm throwing a penalty flag down. The "[insert name] Nation" implies either (1) your fan base is spread out all over the USA or, (2) your fan base is large and expansive.  Those definitions are official because I just thought them up.  We've got a Sports Violation going on which has to be rectified.

You can have a Yankee Nation, a Cowboys Nation, or maybe even a Longhorn Nation. But you can't have an Eagle Nation. And, admittedly, you can't have a . . .

I'm sure the flags are up because of our pride in the Cross Country teams! :-) (Although the football team DOES look like its going to have a much improved season this year.)

0 state championships. even in this era where there are now two divisions and everyone seems to make the playoffs. we're just a mediocre football program.

Eagle Nation? More like pigeon coop.

Who paid for them? Who put them up? I think they lower the looks of the area and definitely brings down property values. Just sayin........

Baylor doesn't want anyone to mess with Texas football, unless of course it's part of the group instigating the messing. "Do unto others, but do not have done unto you" should be the motto.

11:52 and 12:51, if the kids enjoy playing, and the cheerleaders enjoy cheering, and the band enjoys performing, and folks have a good time on Friday night...it's a GREAT football program. Like most are. Winning a state championship? Who cares? Can you name, without looking it up, all the state champions from just last year? Nope.

8:09 yes but most don't think they have to have 5 million dollar field to preform and enjoy it on.
But who cares? me and the people that vote and pay tax in DISD

Thank You 9:36 I was thinking the same thing.

11:52

p.s. given the latest school ratings, TAKS (or whatever it is called now) scores, and the number of current DISD high school students that are expected to receive at least a 4-year college degree, athletics in general should be the last thing on our minds.

I do not live in wise county but I am veruly familiar with the area, having said that ...I would much rather live in Decatur than any of the others in the county. It's neat to see a town support the athletic teams with the flags..I think the laptops all the high school students received shows the academic support. Like tha board barry! Keep it up

Lifetime Decaturite, all state player on the 88 semi-finals team and I think the flags are super gay! Try playing real football and not glorified 7 on 7.

6:24 Anyone who has to brag on themselves to make them feel better is "super gay" themselves! LOL
