Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • Update of the DWI trial yesterday: After being offered a better plea bargain because there weren't enough jurors, he finally took it after thinking about it over lunch. (He originally turned it down which prompted a few "what an idiot" murmurs in the courtroom.
  • Crazy debut by the #1 pick in the MLB draft from last year, Stephen Strasburg: 7 innings pitched and 14 strikeouts. The bang-to-hype ratio actually paid off. (But everyone might want to tap the brakes before they put him in the Hall of Fame.)
  • While jogging before 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, I came across a grown man with a basket on his his bike. And in the basket was a plastic replica of E.T. (Absolutely true.)
  • And a former Decatur kid was drafted in the eighth round yesterday in the baseball draft. I think that's high enough where they'll give him a serious look. I think. Baseball is weird.
  • Another Texas pipeline explosion resulting in death yesterday. Let's hope there is no trifecta today.
  • Big 12 watch: Nebraska may be gone by Friday. For college football fans, this is the craziest time I've ever seen.
  • Funny line yesterday about Texas determining if Baylor would get to tag along to the Pac 10: "Texas is like the cool guys getting into an exclusive club. If they want someone else in the VIP room, they get to go to the VIP room."
  • Have a mentioned that someone needs to get Miley Cyrus under control?
  • Four more U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan yesterday. Exactly what are we doing over there?
  • Al and Tipper Gore's daughter separates from husband, too?
  • Border Control Overkill: Shooting a Mexican teenager for throwing rocks at a border guard.
  • I don't know who runs the awful DPS Twitter feed, but if she writes, "Turn around! Don't drown!" one more time, I'm driving to Austin and submerging her head in the bathtub.
  • Another "anticipation video" that is not-a-good.
  • TCU and the Evil Empire play in the college baseball playoffs this week. Despite TCU getting a little cocky last Fall, I can never root for the Empire.
  • Yep, a little sports intensive today, but I woke up late.

Man that girl in todays pic would be in the "HOTT" category if her face didnt look like Sacha Baron Cohen (the guy from that gay movie "BRUNO").

blech.. that face. i am sure she bought it when she got her boobs done

Yes baseball is weird!!!! Joe Staley is a good athlete. He has moved up in the draft and has improved throughout his college career. Good luck to him!!!!

Miley Cyrus has fans of Hanna Montanna but she nows want to be Britney! Anything to get attention is not being grown up! She will regret her decision down the road when it is too late to recapture her fan base. Her act is nothing more than wearing skimpy outfits and kissing other girls. Boring!

I dont think she looks anything like Sacha Baron Cohen except for when he played Bruno(wierd movie by the way). Other that that, they look nothing alike.

Someone said something about a Constable car in the body shop in Decatur can someone ck on this.

so what was the final deal on the DWI? You said you'd tell us and you didn't ...

If some mexican started throwing rocks at me I'd probably shoot him too.

Anonymous said...

overkill? Should the border patrol throw rocks back? The article says they were out numbered. If americans were throwing rocks at mexican border patrol they would have fired back.

Anonymous said...

Is there something wrong with the Constable car being in the body shop?

Moral to the story on the dead Mexican kid--never teach your kid that it's ok to throw rocks at law enforcement officers.

Afghanistan is nothing but a big horrendous mistake which our government is responsible for getting us into. Stupidity and arrogance at its worst.

Todays thoughts arent to shabby. Sports is always good.... Good links are anchored by the Cyrus link. (Note to self: Next time the kids want to see Hannah Montanna concert by tickets up front.) Then there is the chic-man of the day. Barry what the hell were you thinking?

"Afghanistan = mistake" - Maybe.

"Doing nothing in response to being attacked = mistake" - For sure.

1018 - Please share your thoughts on the proper response following the 9/11 "incident."

Why do we even have constable cars?

Better yet, why do we even have constables?

No axe to grind, just don't understand their relevance in today's world... wouldn't it be better just to convert those positions to more deputies?

Today's pic = there is your result of facial injections of botox. I really don't get the trend.

The hands on that guy are bigger than the boobs.

"Four more U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan yesterday. Exactly what are we doing over there?" Bob Dylan said "The answer is Blowing in the Wind". If the present generation had the music they could end this war just like the music of the 60s generation brought an end to the Vietnam War.

Tom better keep Dennis's car looking good so when he gets HIS job back he be pimping in it then.
