This blog is pretty interesting. He's an old school bible guy who is non-too-pleased with the "progressiveness" of some of today's churches.
And he did not like the Victory Family Church of Decatur billboard campaign. Here's a sample of what he said if you don't want to click on that link: "Victory Family Church has wandered off into Seeker-Sensitive La-La Land. They don't preach and teach sound doctrine, or Jesus Christ Crucified for Sinners. They exist to make 'dream families' instead of disciples grounded in the words of scripture and sound doctrine. They preach about man instead of Christ."

"NOW ISNT THAT SPECIAL" SO KIND OF HIM TO DOWN HIS FELLOW CHRISTIANS. I'M SURE HIS CHURCH OR MAYBE HE WILL BE THE ONLY ONES AT THE PEARLY GATES.
Hmm, the brainwashed trying to brainwash the brainwashed.
That "old school bible guy" is likely typical of many pew sitters in both contemporary and traditional churches who keep these institutions going because they pump in the money.
Maybe, just maybe, this old school guy and others are genuinely concerned. I'm not saying he's right, I haven't even read his blog but I have read the comments so many make here to denigrate the church. The world is made up of good and bad experiences. How each one of us react to those experiences says so much more about us. The churches are made up of people...people who make mistakes just like everyone else. Even though they make mistakes, a good number of those folks in the pews do care about each other and you whether you want them to or not.
Is this the group that stands on the street corners with signs and enters the restaurants with such noise u have to leave? It may be the customers, drivers and SATIN that don't like them.
To 10:06...
You did mean "SATAN", correct?
"Satin" is a type of fabric weave, typically of silk or rayon.
Do not judge lest ye be judged also.
Give it a rest, Mzchief (Mzperfect). YOU are not perfect nor are others. Your constant "corrections" of others shows you to be a snob of the worst kind. Shut up.
Churches are not what they used to be. FAITH was evident in the early days. Now, it seems to all be about money. If one isn't tithing then one doesn't receive the blessings of the church.....no matter how LONG one has been a member. Elderly are neglected when their absence from the congregation is noted for too long a period, nevermind how many years they have been of loyal service to a church. The Baptists are the very worst about this. God is not in their churches anymore.
It's funny how this blog has swarms of people coming out of the woodwork to badmouth anything Christian. This is a debate that should be held between those who call themselves Christians, not "outsiders" who don't claim to even be Christian (mzchief) or those who don't attend church at all.
To those of us who do profess to have Jesus in our hearts and go to church, I think there are too many close-minded people taking potshots at fellow Christians for no reason. I didn't read his blog, but has he even been to that church?
Times today are, obviously, different than they were back even in the 1950s, much less the days of the New Testament. For example, the music: God created music, so I think that any music that brings glory to His name is good. If it's not your style of music, don't listen to it. There were times way back when that even minor musical chords were supposed to be evil. If this church doesn't preach enough fire and brimstone for you, attend another church. But please remember that the Bible says there are "many parts, but one body."
8:55... how do you know where God is and what churches He is "in"? I think you don't have a clue. While there may be some preachers who do preach too much about money, there are thousands of churches who do God's work and survive by the tithes and offerings of its church members. Preachers talk about tithing because they are teaching what the Bible says, since the idea comes from God and is supposed to be another form of worship (by giving to Him).
Our church, for example, supports many missionaries around the world and also is involved in our community's activities. The key is having a heart for the Lord and having a heart for people.
This guy knows nothing about VFC. Neither do many of you.
The things taught there have changed my life for the better.
Come find out for yourselves.
