Can Gayness Be Cured?

For the first time ever, a majority of Americans believe that gays can't be changed into non-gays. I've always believed that. One of my first bosses in the legal field (who was as conservative as the day is long) always preached this based upon his premise of: "Why in the world would someone be that way, subject themselves to all that ridicule, if they couldn't help themselves?"

You make the choice to be gay, and you can make the choice to not be gay as well.

Gay Republicans do not WANT to be cured. If only one was cured, the other 90% would be threatened. They might be found out that they, the Gay Republicans, really do LOVE Liberal Weenies. Or in the case of the republizbos, Liberal Crackies.

Yes, there are some Conservarals here always talking about Liberal Weenies. If it's not in their thoughts,.......its....somewhere else, maybe,.....

Did TxSheehan send you this to tell you that you can't be cured?

The grieving mother that blames the fire department for not saving her son needs to back away from the dinner table. Good God, did you see the ass on her butt? Why are so many poor people fat?

WHAT difference does it REALLY make whether or not homosexuals "can be cured?" It is NO ONES business what two consenting ADULTS do in the privacy of their home. If some bloke decides to shag another bloke or a chick decides to shag another chick it should make NO more difference than if it were a heterosexual couple of different ethnicities. That being said, I MUST confess I am GREATLY annoyed by the GAY PRIDE PARADES and the other lame in your face rot for which radical homosexuals are famous however, I am equally annoyed by radical religious crazies.

I agree with mzchief - it is only the business of the parties involved.

Likely every family has at least one gay person in it. So do we just kick them out of the family?

Some churches want to do that who call themselves extended family.

So just what is grace?

Yet another example of the continued slide of our country into the toilet.

Mzchief, do you realize that if everyone decided to be homosexual that human life could eventually become extinct? It does matter.

8:36 - Do you realize how stupid your remark is? First, all scientific evidence is that "gayness" is inborn - not a choice. Second, the probability of "all" people choosing to be gay is just ludicrous. You might just as well say "if all heteros chose to have no children, we'd go extinct." That, too, is ridiculously improbable.

The fact is that we are not running out of people regardless of the number of gays. There are some 6 Billion people in the world today. That is a vastly greater number than the planet has sustained over the past 2 million years. Some 5% are gay - so what? No one is attempting to "convert" you to be gay so why can't you allow these God's children to their own lives?

Do YOU realize that not EVERYONE would ELECT to become homosexual? (Heck, the memebers of the same family cannot agree on a location to celebrate NEXT Christmas [who in their right bloody mind goes to the beach for Christmas?]) More than likely SOME people would ELECT to be BI-sexual and you can count on me to remain heterosexual.

Incidentally, are YOU admitting that YOU could be "turned homosexual?"

Anonymous said...

8:55 just where did you find this scientific evidence?

TXsharon said...

What I want to know, 9:26 and 8:36, is this: Just when, exactly, did you make your choice regarding your sexual persuasion?

I have searched through my memories long and hard and I cannot come up with any memory of the moment I made a choice to be heterosexual. I just was, from the beginning, and I still am and I always will be heterosexual. Nor have I ever spoken with one single person who can remember making that choice.

I have known gay men who tried very hard to choose heterosexuality. They married women and some even had children but, in every case, it ended badly for all involved.

Of course, as mzchief said, it's no one's business.

8:55 you are trying to speak about scientific evidence to people who don't believe in science. Good luck with that. ; )

I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing than to walk around with fecal matter on my member and sporting a man milk mustache.

I really don't have any idea what to think about people who are gay. I don't really know any personally so I couldn't even begin to speculate.

However I have watched a special on the discovery channel I think about kids who were born hermaphrodites(born with only one testicle or ovary). At their birth they are transformed into a boy or a girl regardless of their original intended sex. If the doctors thought they had a greater chance of making the privates look like a normal boy or girl that is what they did no matter if the child started out with male or female parts. They monitored these kids into adolesence and found that they all were attracted to the opposite sex. Boys who were turned into girls still liked girls and had to deal with the pressure of society whether it was hard to like boys or fighting the up hill battle of looking like a lesbian.

Anyway I just thought that was truly interesting and wonder if anyone else has seen this program. My particular reaction is that it throws the whole "I was born this way" theory out the window but you could also make the assumption that none of these kids were suppose to be gay in the first place.

I do NOT know if 8:55 used this chart from the U.S. Census Bureau. Of course the chart does NOT go back "2 million years" but as indicated by the census statistics there are currently MORE people on Earth than EVER during the course of human history.

9:33, hermaphrodites are people born with both sets of sex organs, not one. In other words, the best of both worlds! Awww yeah!

Mz and 8:36, my point is that it does matter. Your reference to "gayness" being inborn and not a choice is the ludicrous comment in this conversation. What is gayness anyway? Call it what it is---HOMOSEXUALITY.

Admittedly, some individuals may indeed have a genetic predisposition bent to certain behavior, ie. homosexuality, alcoholism, short temper, etc. However, one still gets to choose whether they yield to this predisposition or exercise self restraint.

To maintain the position that "I have no choice because I was just born this way" is extremely flawed logic and exemplifies individual weakness. Does an alcoholic choose to take the drink? Does the pedophiliac choose to lure the child? Does the person with a quick temper go off anywhere, anytime? NO, all these involve personal choice and personal responsibility. Let's all just give in to our hand-me-down genes and do whatever we feel like doing. After all, it does'nt matter anyway???

3 people in my family are gay & they are adored by all who know them; they are exceptional, wonderful people. The people that know them, love & support them; & the people that don't know them, don't matter.

I'm glad the country is coming around on this issue.

Like you, txsharon, at no time did I choose to be heterosexual; it was always just who I was; and the same goes for gays.

2 things I like about the Bush administration -
1) immigration policy
2) Cheney's daughter

ok, as a gay man that was BORN GAY, i'm gonna try to weigh in on this.

the closest i can come to making sense of the whole "gay cure" thing is a to make use a hair color analogy: if a brunette buys a bottle of peroxide, they are CHOOSING to become blonde...but they are STILL INHERENTLY brunette. they will continue to have to repeat the process to "stay" blonde.

same as someone who's undergone the "gay-to-straight" treatment. they may look/act "straight", but their DNA stamp is still gay, gay, gay unless they continue having their "roots" done.

Please pay CLOSER attention to the comments to which you ELECT to respond. I NEVER reference homosexuals as "gay" nor did I or have I EVER attempted to argue whether or not homosexuality is a choice. My point being was that it REALLY does NOT matter because it is NO ONES business what two consenting ADULTS elect to do for PERSONAL sexual gratification.

I am CERTAIN the anti-homosexual contingency is GRATEFUL to have YOU with YOUR comprehension skills on THEIR side. You can bloody well bet I am DELIGHTED you are on THEIR side.

How many of us ask the professionals that we visit - doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, etc. if they are gay before we hire them?

By golly if I have a serious heart condition and the best doctor is gay, I don't care if the guy dances nude in a gay bar every night.

I will say this over and over because it is true: If you've ever masturbated (which means EVERYBODY), you've had sex with yourself. Therefore you are homosexual as you'd have had sex with a person of the same gender.

EVERYBODY IS GAY!

Mz, if the homosexual agenda stopped in the bedroom I would be able to agree with you. The problem is today's homosexuals are demanding acceptance and are constantly lobbying for special treatment outside the bedroom. I can treat someone with civility but I don't have to tolerate or accept their immoral and destructive behavior.

Geeezzzeeee
Unless you ENJOY people laughing their arses off at the moronic things YOU say about someone who masturbates being homosexual you TRULY need to STOP. Merriam-Webster defines "homosexual" as someone with a tendency to direct sexual desire toward ANOTHER person of the same sex.

YOU are the reason there should be a minimum IQ requirement to access the Internet. However, thank YOU for the laugh that you have given ME and EVERYONE to whom I have sent your comment. FUNNY STUFF.

TXsharon said...

12:10 LMAO Funniest comment of the day!

1:18 I do not know of any "special treatment" that homosexuals are demanding. They are demanding the same civil rights that the Constitution guarantees every citizen of the U.S.

I for one don't understand how any single guy can be "anti-gay."

I look at each gay man as one less guy trying to pick up the girls that I'm trying to bang.

Come on, everybody knows Gays suck.

Most heterosexual men fear homosexual men but, fantasize about two homosexual women being together.

Most heterosexual women fear homosexual women but, love homosexual men because a homosexual man is a girl's best friend.

to mzchief at 9:43 - so are you on or off subject again? What do you propose to add by showing a population chart (that only goes up to 1950)? Of course the estimates of population prior to 10,000 years ago must be assumed to be approximations.

So you provide a chart. So what? Today's world population is some 6 billion. Approximately 5% are homosexual. By my math that makes some 300 million homosexuals - equal to the entire population of the USA. Did they all choose their sexual preference? Or were they just born that way? Like others have asked here, when did you choose your orientation?

mzchief said...

Please, TRY to keep up. If you are unable to do do see if your 8 year old neighbour is willing to assist you in doing such.

My 9:53 comment was directed to 9:23 who was in part questioning the voracity of the statement made by 8:55 regarding the World's population NOT being in jeopardy due to the presence of homosexuals in modern society. The chart clearly indicates global population is JUST fine. The FACT the CURRENT population is 6 BILLION is such COMMON knowledge I felt it unnecessary to post a chart that indicates that FACT.

As I have stated it is MY position that it is of NO concern whether or not someone makes the choice to be homosexual or is born homosexual because it is NO ONES business what consenting ADULTS do in the privacy of their home for PERSONAL sexual gratification.

Since YOU are so VERY interested in MY being heterosexual, which I did cop to in my 9:05 comment and you have specifically asked WHEN did I "choose" my orientation I will HONESTLY state that I have NO specific recollection of having made a conscious choice to be heterosexual. However, I do recall having a TREMENDOUS crush on a handsome young boy when I was 13 years old and I do believe he was the FIRST boy whom I DOUBTED had cooties. Of course I have grown wiser throughout the years and have come to realize ALL boys/men have cooties and it is indeed part of their ahhhh...uhhhh...charm.

To answer your FIRST question; NO I did NOT drift off topic, for that matter I was spot on. YOU are the one who YET AGAIN had trouble keeping up.
