Some guy named Ron Mueck is having his sculptures displayed at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth. (There's an article about it in today's DMN.)
I saw this picture of his work over the weekend. I stared at it for quite some time because I really like it. It's called "In Bed" (2005-06) in "mixed media." I think it's mixed because the lady in the bed is a sculpture and the person in the chair is real. So I guess it's an artistic photo (taken in 2006?) of a sculpture (created in 2005?) thereby making it "mixed." (ButI have no idea what I'm talking about.)

I like it. But then again, I just joined that Bong Hits 4 Jesus church, so.....
It's not a photo that is being displayed at the museum. It's considered mixed media because he made his art with: resin for the sculpture, paint on the sculpture, fibers for the hair & eye lashes, fabric for the covers. In other words, he used a two or more media to create his art.

I intend to make that show at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth. Other websites show the size of his work with actual folks viewing it. Unbelievable.
Mueck is basically self taught and works a lot from photographs. The only one that bothered me was the sculpture of his "dead dad". That was just eerie. So did he take the photo in the morgue?
This is one talented artist. Wow!
