Hero

The lady that was kidnapped this weekend (and ended up driving that big rig across the Southwest Proper on its rims) was all over the TV today. Some folks asked if she considered herself a "hero." Not a chance. My standard of "hero" is so high that I'm not sure many people ever achieve it.

I agree Barry, she is NOT a hero. She drove at gun point and did what the asshole said. She did a good job talking him into not fighting the Police. I love watching the news and seeing the asshole blaming the world of not allowing CONVICTED felons an easy way in todays life. Now that he has done what he has done, I guess he will have a job in PRISON! DUMB ASS!!!!! When I don't get my way, I may take a horse and rider hostage and run across the Courthouse lawn over and over and over till I get my way

Hero, NO. Victim, YES.

Absolutely NOT hero - just caught in a crazy media event. She and the cops handled it pretty well. The media way over publicized it – and continue to milk it.

She was definately a victim in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I am going to pay for this one.....

This should be a lesson to all of us. Be prepared. Always carry fried chicken and watermelon with you in your vehicle, so that you can destract 'em and escape the situation.

In my book you have to wear a cape to be a hero, I see no cape on this so called human.

I'm with greta.....why do we call people heroes just because they happened along the way at the wrong time?

Interesting--she is actually a victim TWICE. Firstly, by the gunman/a**hole, and the secondly, by the media!! Another example of our "free" press/media at work!! Not to take anything off her character, though--a lady who behaved admirably.

She was a Victim not a Hero.

To be a hero she would have shot him with his own gun when she jumped out of the truck. She had it in her hand and and threw it down as she ran away ...

Now that would have been the best ever....

If she had been a real hero she would have been carrying her own gun and stopped the whole thing and popped a cap in the ear of the asshole before he could abducted her.

She was a SURVIVOR - not a hero.

PS - Greta is an idiot.

I feel for what she went through...can't imagine the fear, but hero, no. I'm with Barry on this one, that word is reserved for very, very few people in this world...ever.

Not a hero. Tough spot. I think in that situation, knowing help is just behind and all around you, you pick the right spot and wreck the truck, bounce this guy around, get out.

and your point is? said...

A victim in a very serious situation. A situation that could have turned deadly. But, she stayed strong and did not wilt under the pressure. She is alive. strong, and a survivor. Hero, no, I think most of us agree on that point.

I am sorry for what she went through, but amazed how fast she recovered enough to tell her "emotional" story nationwide.

Next: Larry King Live

Predictable?

Well, we'd all do it too. Except Barry. He's way too shy!
