Trump and Guns

How does that not drive gun folks nuts?

Because they're fine taking guns (and other rights) from blacks, Mexicans, and Muslims.

Rage is correct: Trump's intended audience knows exactly who he means when he says "the police know who shouldn't be having a gun."

The police know who shouldn't have a gun... everyone but them. Trump wants to take your guns away.

I'm sure there are some folks who are fine with that. I'm not, and I don't believe the vast majority are fine with that. In fact, it quite scares me. But I remain in the crowd of voting for the lesser of 2 evils, and on that count, Trump has Clinton by a wide margin. If we reward her by election after all her scandalous behaviors, we will get what we deserve.

We should leave it up to Don's people to interpret for him. Feel free to jump in WK. He may have said this, but what he meant was that the 2nd amendment is the most important of the 10 Commandments.

So much for the 4th amendment but he's still less dangerous than hillary

The whole disjointed, illegal and unconstitutional statement is typical of Trump without his teleprompter. Obviously he really means police know who to frisk and take their guns away by the color of the subject's skin.
What a complete idiot!

Hey RPM, you farking idiot. Where do you get off, man? Maybe you just accidentally typed Trump instead of Hillary. You see, you twit, Hillary and the democrats admit they want to ban firearms. On the other hand, Trump understands the need for self-defense. Do you?

Here's the problem--the line has moved. People who used to be considered conservatives, like my wife, have not changed their beliefs. She still wants lower taxes. She still dislikes Obamacare. She still wants free trade. She still wants secure borders. But as the Tea Partiers have affected American politics, they moved the perception of what it means to be 'conservative' so much so that people like my wife, who has not changed a single stance, now finds herself voting Democratic. Not because sh likes Hillary; she despises her. But because the platform is what matters, and she simply cannot vote for a man who constantly disparages women, minorities, and the disabled. The Republican Party wasn't like that just a few years ago. But that's where it is now, with Trump as its leader, and with the "less dangerous than Trump" being people like Ted Cruz, who all by himself is so radically to the right that he's no less dangerous, he's simply more polished (aside from one lip booger). There is no alternative for the reasonable Republican.

Wordkyle likes to sit in his Lubbock-based ivory tower and opine about the principles of thoughtful conservatives--but that no longer exists. The Jim Baker Republicans are not driving this train. Even Priebus is threatening others that if they do not support Trump they will face consequences. The mainstream Republican Party has only a "with us or against us" mentality that means that they keep pushing farther and farther right. They keep advocating more and more authoritarian tactics, while proposing tax breaks in the trillions of dollars that will only affect the top 4% of America--and why in the world would the average blue-collar hard-working Republican ever vote for that? For the same reason that non-slave owners fought in the Civil War--they have been blinded by visceral politics foisted upon them by those in charge and have been so thoroughly fooled that they will vote against their own interests and livelihood all because they "hate" one side instead of the other.

The line has moved. There is no more Republican Party for a reasonable, moderate Republican.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is just stupid.

Stop and frisk will be YUGE!It will also weed out the bad Skittles.

There are no ivory towers in Lubbock.

"How does that not drive gun folks nut?"

Because they always back their guy regardless of what he says like a bunch of good little frat boys.

Wait a minute...wasn't that reference to New York cops? A city in a State that doesn't have open carry and in which the permitting regulations are much more restrictive than they are in Texas? What do I care who the New York cops stop and frisk?

"Rage's" algorithm is so predictable. They need to check for updates.

11:18 is another Soros funded commenter. It's definitely an improvement over "Rage's" tired old act.

11:18 is a perfect example of the long march through the institutions using Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. They pretend to be one of us and use our superior values against us. It's hard to fathom the dark motives of the left.

Anonymous said...

Nail on the head...this is about a policy for one city in America.

Anonymous said...

Well, yeah, that was kind of my point.

Rage is correct.

1118 - Your points are not lost on me in here in the Ivory Tower Complex. I'm not satisfied with the Republican Party nor the Republican candidate. If your wife chooses Hillary Clinton over Trump for the reasons you cite, then I understand. I happen to believe she's wrong.

However, you'll need to explain a few things. How did the "Tea Partiers" ruin your wife's Conservative views on lower taxes, Obamacare, secure borders, or free trade? Does she blame them for how they were portrayed in the media?

As for being a thoughtful Conservative...well, when it comes to politics we're forced to do the best we can with what we've got to work with. The Democrat Party is diametrically opposed to almost every Conservative value. They gave us (rammed down our throats) Obamacare, want higher taxes, and believe a secured border is racist. The Libertarian candidate is a wasted vote. The only other option is Republican, regardless of the nominee.

I'm writing in Adolf Hitler for president, he is the lesser of 3 evils!

11:18 is right. Totally correct.

Litmus tests to prove who's holier than who don't work... not in church or politics. But zealots do love them.

Whoever captures the center wins. It usually takes a mixture of red and blue to do so.

2:00 Wordkyle - 11:18 is not a real person.

11:18, Your wife is an idiot like you if she doesn't like Trump because he disparages women, minorities and the disabled. But it's ok for Hillary to call half of Trump supporters deplorable?

Anonymous said...

Wait a minute...wasn't that reference to New York cops? - Sam Brows

Trump wants to institute that policy nationwide (even though it's been ruled unconstitutional).

Anonymous said...

5:30 - neither of them exist.

WK and others, I thought conservatives were supposed to be fiscally responsible. Trump promises to cut high income folks and corporate taxes while expanding several government programs. Even conservative think tanks say his proposals will increase the deficit by Trillions!
Is this the new definition of conservative?

wordkyle said...

111 - You answered your own question, didn't you?

You actually are correct, in that Conservatives believe in fiscal responsibility. That includes controlling spending. However, politicians get elected by promising voters stuff. So we have out-of-control spending by politicians who want to be re-elected.

Democrats didn't tell Americans beforehand that Obamacare would increase premiums, limit medical choice, and yoke poor people with premiums they didn't have before. They said "free, free, free." They got what they wanted, political cover for a moronic move.
