Not An Ad But I Do Accept Day Old Rolls As Compensation

Someone emailed me to point out that Texas Highways magazine had a story on a restaurant on the courthouse square in Decatur. The oddly named restaurant has been in existence for several years after replacing the institution known as Mattie's.

I want Mattie's back. Greatest place to eat in the history of ever!

I hate to admit it, but you could lock me in a room with a pail of yeast rolls, a slab of butter, and a bottle of honey & I would be a happy camper. And fresh cold milk. Lots of delicious milk.

Matties MUCH better than one now. Tried this one 4 times, never been very satisfied, yes I know whats coming, why 4 times if not happy. First 2 my choice always give a place 2 tries. Other 2 with others from work who wanted to go so I tagged along. Not horrible just not close to Matties.

Ribeyes there are greasy everytime. Yuck!

Steaks are GROSS. No flavor. I can get much better steak at Salt Grass or better yet, at the One Stop at Runaway Bay! Cook it up myself with a big ole' slatherin' of bleu cheese butter. I'm amazed at the people I know who want to go to Sweetie Pie's, specifically for steak. Heck, I'll charge you less, and cook it for you.

I thought it was just me... Went there once and never went back.

But apparently someone eats there. Speak up, Sweetie Pies fans! What's the appeal?

I just wish they would forget the steaks and make it a real Babe's Chicken Dinner House. It would be full every night. I even suggested to the manager once to at least have fried chicken on the menu. OOHHH nooooo, they couldn't do that.......

Eaten there a few of times. It was always someone else's suggestion because I hate trying to find a parking spot downtown during the day. Wasn't particularly impressed with the food and thought their prices were high. It's OK, but nothing to brag about. Mattie's was much better.

The square is off limits for me...parking is not to my liking.

Parking in downtown Decatur is hard??? Most I've ever walked is 1.5 blocks. That's nothing for.... Oh wait I live in a town of camouflage fat asses.

Hate everything about Sweetie Pies, from the thin steaks, no fixins for baked potatoes, iceburg lettuce, and loud music. I pray they turn it into a Babes Chicken. You can't even go to the bathroom in peace with Jerry Clower yapping in there!

The hot water in the bathroom is hotter than hell. I heard it melted a small child's hand off.

Well, blame the CITY on the parking. First of all, they did away with all the parking on the corners of the inner circle, to the tune of 20-24 spaces! Then they dreamed up "Loading Spaces" for the courthouse nowhere near the basement ramp, to the tune of 4 MORE spaces (allowing only 30 minutes during the day)! In an area with an admittedly small of parking available, you reduce the amount of parking by 24-28 spaces!! And ya wonder why parking is at a premium. BTW, the corner "lanes" are all labeled as fire/emergency areas, but the courthouse has had ambulance/fire/police come to the square 5 times since then, and only ONCE has ANY one of those vehicles parked in that area, instead they parked right on one of the streets. Good Grief!

I go to Southlake and park blocks away from places I shop! I don't mind that, but there should be more handicapped parking! Every corner space, including the first off-the-square space on each street (Trinity, Walnut, Main and State) should be have a handicap placard. It's truly a nightmare to get anywhere with a wheelchair!
