"Let Freedom Reign"

It's the 10th Anniversary of the Invasion of Iraq.  That was then.

This is now.

I was against the war ten years ago. I've got witnesses!

You got all the answers don't you Green.

You and me both. Back then, we were "soft on terror" to people like Wordkyle. Turns out we were right and all they can do is make excuses.

Double Fake Guy That Says Hillary Clinton Wanted To Invade

The Iraq invasion on false grounds will remain a stain on America's reputation. Those goofballs in the Bush admin who expected a quick resolution, being greeted as liberators and paying for the whole thing with oil revenues have cost us so very much. Not to mention the 4,000 Americans and 150,000+ Iraqi civilians who have died in this idiotic operation.

Many of both parties fell for false and incomplete info to go along with the invasion. What a tragic waste.

10 improper wars would be less damaging to the US than the policies of the Obama admin.

I was for it then and now. Only question is should have we just carpet bombed it? 4000 Americans in 10 years, probably more killed in the US from BB gun accidents.

"The Senate passed a bipartisan resolution Friday expressing support for President Bush and the war on terrorism.

A week after Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-South Dakota, caused a stir by questioning the direction of the war effort, the Senate unanimously passed the resolution, which the Democratic leader proposed and crafted.

"The Senate reaffirms that it stands united with the president in the ongoing effort to defeat terrorism," it states.

This is a change from an earlier draft, which was more specific to the fight in Afghanistan. That version stated that the Senate stands united behind the president "to destroy al Qaeda." Democratic leadership sources said the language was broadened at the request of Sen. Robert Byrd, D-West Virginia."

http://articles.cnn.com/2002-03-08/politics/senate.war.resolution_1_daschle-resolution-war-effort?_s=PM:ALLPOLITICS

The above is from March of 2002, about 6 months after 9/11.

Couple of interesting facts:

The Senate voted 100% in favor of the resolution.
Democrats wrote the resolution, and even "broadened" it at the request of a democrat.

The Senate "reaffirmed", meaning that the Senate had affirmed once before.

The Senate in 2003 was 51 Republicans, 48 Democrats and 1 other.

Yep, it was all Bush's fault...stupid people.

Iraq War History isn't written yet you fools. most of you dbags don't even understand Vietnam war history.

I spoke to a couple who live in Iraq.
They said they have hope now instead of living in fear for theirs and their children's lives.

So yeah. Rage, you're still a dumbass.

you know,in many respects this war was started by Geo. W. Bush as a family vendetta to kill Saddam Hussein. It was an abuse of the power and prestige of the office of president of the United States.

On the other hand, we can kill those motherf***ers over there, or we can kill them over here.

I vote over there. It is better for us that way.

I believe we are in for a 200 year war against Muslims. It is sad, but get used to it.

Congratulations, Mr. Green! We will, however, still need your three (3) UPC codes and $1.39 (P&H) if you want us to process your Super Secret Weenie Whistle order.

Sincerely,

Well, maybe if Iraq hadn't invaded Kuwait, things would have been different. But, according to most on here, we should have just let Saddam take Kuwait, then Saudi Arabia, and then launch more missiles into Israel, prompting Israel to go nuke.

Biggest foreign policy fiasco in our history!

I say that not because it was simply a disaster, but because it was a disaster we seemed so eager and gleeful to go for.

Maybe every couple generations needs a HUGE foreign policy embarrassment just to remind us why we shouldn't get into unnecessary wars.

But this time, it might have taken us down as a super power.

The civilian leadership should be be punished in some manner for this.

10 years, 4000 American lives, tens of thousands wounded and still not one of the politicians or pundits who helped lie us into this illegal, immoral, poorly-executed war has even admitted to being wrong, much less expressed any remorse.

We're all going to be at war dec 21 2012

Oh snap

You are apparently unaware that there were two Iraq invasions. One by Bush #1 to evict Iraq from Kuait that was justified, well planned with an exit strategy. The other by Bush#2 on false premis, false asumptions and no exit plan. The military performed very well both wars. The civilian staff of Bush #2 should be tried for gross incpmpetence if not treason and war crimes.

There was a nasty dictator in Iraq but there are nasty leaders all over the world and we don't go to war with all of them. Going into Afghanistan was justified. Iraq was wrong and a huge, costly mistake.

Sadly, the war was wrong for all the real reasons.

Real culprit? CIA director who couldn't/wouldn't speak truth to power.

Of course the Bush/Cheny crowd will see that he is gainfully employed as long as he lives to keep him quiet.

What scares me is a post like 9:29 with the grammar & spelling alarms going off. Then 9:29 calls Bush a dumb a$$?????

Be very afraid; we can be our own worst enemy through ignorance.

Anonymous said...

8:52a Wow! I must agree that 9:29p exhibits some fine Wise Co "edjacashun". However, even that person understands the idiocy of the Iraq war.

Anonymous said...

Oh, well, 8:07, I guess the happiness of your single couple that you spoke with was worth the thousands of American lives then. Thank you so much for your anecdotal contribution that is completely believable.

Anonymous said...

To 10:31, this is 8:52.

My point was not about the war; the point was to emphasize that folks should at least be able to read, write and spell before calling someone else a dumba$$.

Clearly, the big winner in the Iraq war was not America or Iraq. It was Iran.

I don't believe that was the original plan.

When people sent emails bashing the Dixie Chicks, I messaged back that I agreed with them. My inbox got a lot smaller.
