Dallas Church Will Buy Your Guns This Weekend

On January 19 from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m., the The First Presbyterian Church of Dallas will swap cash for weapons: up to $50 for working handguns and shotguns, and up to $200 for semi-automatics rifles. Story.

Kind of gives a whole new meaning to clinging to your "guns and religion."

Membership must be down.

Careful what you create, Mr. Pastor.

Geeze, I'd buy at that price too, then I'd sell it all for an outrageous profit at the gun show later..

The burglars are going to be busy for the next couple of weeks. Hide your guns.

The newspaper that printed the addresses of people with concealed carry licenses has responded by hiring extra armed guards for their office building.

Typical liberal bullsh*t.

Actually, this is a creative solution that a lot of cities are doing, too. This church is putting its money where its mouth is, where the red letters are concerned. Good for them.

Now the criminals who have committed an offense with a gun will finally have an opportunity to get rid of the evidence.

Stupid. Moronic. Idea.

Sell them now or have your door knocked down later.

If the gun is legit sell it to a pawn shop, you'll get more for it. If its not this is a perfect way to rid yourself of evidence as Jackal pointed out. What an idiotic thing for a church to be doing. Well intentioned but not well thought out.

What a wonderful way to arm your church! I wish I would have thought of it...

Might have to set up close with a larger sign for a little more money. Who knows what kind of deals could be had?

You morons think a gun can't be tossed in a creek, or wiped down? Or thrown away and "reported stolen?"

Gun buy backs like this are a great way to have people clean out attics or gun chests of older relatives, or guns that just aren't used any more. Those are often sold to strangers at garage sales or get stolen, often being used for crimes. Like it or not, the fewer loose guns there are out there, the fewer will be used for crimes. This is a great idea and a good example of a church being a disciple for Christ. If you believe in peace and that there needs to be fewer guns, take action.

If I'm in the area and feel like going to a church, I'll go to that one. They're doing something right.

Maybe they should offer prostitution services while they're cleaning up the streets... Call it, "save a hooker day"...

After the price He paid for my soul, I would have never thought he wanted to buy my guns too...

3:05 If that is the reason you'll attend church I believe you may have already missed the point my friend. But honestly, why bother thinking. It feels good to buy guns from random strangers and how it makes you feel is all that's important (biggest lie the hippie generation taught us BTW.) If you think a third generation firearm in an attic trunk somewhere is the problem, you are living with your head in the sand.

Looks like Consilium could stand to read the Bible.

DUMBASSES! They could have got a better deal at 2K Pawn!

3:05 sounds like a winey baby, We all know the church folks getting these guns are good law abiding people. No paperwork to turn them in and then they buy crack and break into the church and get them back to resell to the pawn shop at triple the price.

Those guns were made by Americans in unions. Good riddance!

5:12 I must have missed the passage where Jesus told Christians to go forth and purchase the weapons of your criminal brethren in a misguided attempt to stop evil. Verse please so I my be educated by your brilliance and scholarly intellect.

I thought the Bible said "the strength of sin is the law", not the strength of sin are weapons... I'm pretty sure I read that in Corinthians somewhere, back when people actually read and were obedient to God's Word... Now, popular opinion rules.

Is this church going to check if the guns are stolen? There are a lot of insolvent burglaries out there.

At 4:05 Consilium responded to 3:05 with "...you are living with your head in the sand."

In the sand?

Consilium, I think you were being very charitable toward 3:05...
