- The in-laws gave me a goat for Christmas. Well, actually a goat which will be delivered to a family in Africa. If that organization is a legit, that's actually a fantastic gift.
- The Republican Party was almost bi-polar yesterday on whether the vote on the fiscal cliff was a good or a bad thing.
- Another Fort Worth Police Officer was arrested for DWI (but it's a little confusing that he was stopped in Westlake on 114 by a Keller officer.)
- Fox 4 had a story last night that Medstar was experimenting with a program where a person would be treated by health care professionals but there wouldn't necessarily be an ambulance ride. The shocking thing was they featured a woman who had taken 44 ambulance rides last year alone.
- Fox 4 also did a story on the Decatur house fire from yesterday.
- I had a dream last night that I was hanging out of the back of Mrs. LL's car and she wouldn't start. I started yelling at her in the dream. The yelling turned real and she had to wake me up with an, "It's ok. It's ok."
- A lady died on an airliner bound for Dallas from Brazil yesterday. How bizarre and shocking would that be. They unloaded the body in Houston.
- Mrs. LL left with two kids yesterday afternoon and came back that evening with two more for the night. I was suddenly sleepy when I saw that.
- A former pastor at the high profile Broadway Baptist Church is taking 30 days off to get treatment for anxiety and depression. He admits to trying to control the issues with alcohol and prescription medication.
- Sports: (1) Florida had no desire to play in the Sugar Bowl last night against Louisville, (2) but they were playing like thugs with cheap shots left and right, (3) coach Will Muschamp didn't seem to care, and (4) it was the lowest attended Sugar Bowl since 1939. Oh, and Britney Griner and the Baylor women were in Fort Worth last night and beat TCU, 74-35.
- Chris Christie just beat Speaker Boehner to a pulp yesterday in order to get a vote on the relief bill for Sandy victims.

At some point soon, 47% support will seem like a dream for the GOP. It will be like the old confederacy, likely minus Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina.
Chris Christie is going to have to make up with the GOP at some point.
They all loved him before, called him a straight shooter who called 'em like he saw 'em. It's just that when he called 'em in a way that veered off form the strict Republican line, that wasn't cool with the partisans.
But he has a 75% approval rating or something in NJ, so he's probably fine - unless he wants to run for higher office.
Which, of course, he does...
Westlake contracts with Keller for police. They do not have their own police department.
Just FYI, Keller provides the police services for Westlake through an contract.
- My mother offered to do the same goat deal for me this Christmas... I don't know if she followed or not.
- Well given the fact that the senate voted on a 154 page bill 3 minutes after it hit the floor, I'd say it's a pretty bad deal for all of us, regardless of political affiliation.
- I tried to fit my girlfriend for a suit whilst sleeping one night. I worked at The Men's Wearhouse in college.
- The pastor should step down indefinitely. Nobody just "gets over" alcohol and drug abuse in a month.
- If the people of the Tri-State Area mattered to the Dems, they wouldn't still be waiting for help. The Dems knew they'd pull the lever for them anyway so they made sure to finish campaigning first before worrying about the "regular people". It falls on Boehner to motivate the house to do something, or God forbid the President, but as speaker it is not solely his job to bring every piece of legislation to the floor.
Those people built their homes along the coast and could not get insurance against huricane damage or just failed to do so. Now they want my money! Maybe I should build a house near the banks of the Trinity River and when it is destroyed by floods I can ask the taxpayers to pay for the damage.
Plenty of people have mentioned it, but this is a direct quote from the article you linked:
"Westlake contracts with Keller for police service."
Where's the confusion?
I'm o.k. with the idea of my elected officials bringing the pork back to the home district. We elect them to represent us and our interests and keeping our tax dollars at home where they can work to our beneifit is kind of the point.
Here in Texas, I have my own natural disasters to contend with and the amount of sympathy that I feel towards the residents of New Jersey starts and stops with the sum total of my donations to the Red Cross after the storm.
I don't like hearing purported conservatives demanding that the federal government should be the solution to their problems.
I ate in small town cafe one time that has a letter posted on their wall where essentially the residents of this town turned down disaster relief (following a tornado) because they could take care of their own and didn't need to burden others.
Now all it takes is for someone to fart in a room and someone will be demanding federal aide because why should they have to open the window themselves.
The all mighty federal government is eventually going to run out of resources and then who will we make our demands to then?
Chris Christie handed the election to Obama with his photo op.
Screw that tubolard.
In 2013 spending and raising the debt ceiling is certain since Republicans have no balls to cut spending. Until everyone's taxes are increased to pay for all the stuff Congress wants, there is not going to be a change or desire to have a balanced budget! So until then, just use the credit card or print money. Who cares as long as the average household doesn't have to pay more!!!
How long before Chris realizes he is really a conservative democrat possing as a republican?
9:16: So it is your belief that President Obama would not have been reelected if Governor Christie had not done joint appearances with him during the hurricane?
Which states do you think would have gone the other way without those appearances? Keep in mind, there were 5 swing states and Obama won four of them.
Which of those four - with electoral votes totaling 98 electoral votes - would have voted differently?
Chris Christie is a RINO and needs to admit that he is truly a Democrat. The screaming about this Sandy bill is ridiculous because it was so stuffed with pork for areas of the country not even affected by Hurricane Sandy.
If all of this had not been in the bill, then Republicans would have been happy to vote for it.
Nice to see comments all over the map today.
The Medstar story is a good look at just how screwed up our health care system is, and how difficult it will be to fix. Since we don't have primary care available, people use the emergency room and ambulances, which costs 20X more. Those that should be able to afford health care cannot, because they are having to pay for those that cannot afford it. At the same time our costs keep going up because hospitals and doctors are all chasing elective surgery and over billing the insurance companies to keep up with the insurance companies under paying what is billed.
.
If you liberals think this is the end of raising taxes then you truly are ignorant of how your party works. The middle class will be the next target because taxing the "wealthy" among us is only a drop in the bucket. You guys are pissing in the wind. If we would reform our tax system libs could get the increased taxes on the very people and corporations they hate so much while making conservatives happy in the process and seal the next election for their party. Throw in some true deficit reductions and they would own all three branches of government indefinitely but to actually address any issue is so far beyond almost every politician that we are going to just keep bickering and fighting until we piss away everything great about this country and destroy everything our forefathers wanted for us. We are perfectly on track with history. If we can not rise above this partisan garbage we are destined for revolution and likely ruin. Sick of it all.
RTG: WOW BG!! You are on a roll!! lET'S KEEP IT UP, ALL NATURAL GIRLS FOR 2013!! no fakies! LOVE the sweetie on the left, BTW
Christie has burned his bridges with too many in the Republican Party. If he ever thinks he wants to make a run at POTUS, it had better be as a Democrat. He is a true RINO!
Oh esteemed blog host, did you see that Al Jazeerah has acquired Al Gore's Current TV and will begin broadcasting in the US soon? (Yes I realize they tried to make in roads with Al Jazeerah English without success but this certainly brings them the opportunity to reach almost as many people as MSNBC. While I realize that's the finest fraction of viewers out there I found it interesting none-the-less.) Thoughts?
The Democrat legislation which Congress approved is good for rum producers, asparagus growers, owners of NASCAR racing, Hollywood movie producers, wind power companies (until they go bankrupt,) those collecting unemployment checks for the third year in a row, those who sold off their stocks today after yesterday's rally, and the Democrat party. Everybody else pays for it.
Except for Al Gore. He structured the sale of his network to Al Jazeera so that he can avoid paying the Democrat-imposed higher taxes.
Typical Baptist, you know how you keep a Baptist from drinking all your Beer bring two they will watch each other
If it was Heifer International that your goat was given through, it is very reputable. The gold standard in overseas charities.
My Other Brother Darryl
yummy randy girls...
much better than the minors posted yesterday...
wind power companies (until they go bankrupt,)
You still on that tirade wordturd? Obama's green energy investments have a higher percentage of success than Romney did when he was with Bain.
Get over it, already.
thought heifer international was where we got our prom dates??
Your Other Brother Darryl
if the goat was bought thru 'Heifer International' it is legit. guarantee!
1208 - You mean just ignore and forget the corruption that is the Obama administration? (e.g., using taxpayer/federal dollars to pay back Obama donors; i.e., Solyndra.) To Democrats "Green investment" = taxpayer-funded slush fund.
A goat? LMAO. Birth control would have been more fitting.
christie took the bate from Obama and the check didnt clear. hes not cheap but he can be had.
Can trillions in budget deficits be described as a greater success than millions in profits.
I'm not even sure the "wordturd" commenter is drinking the koolaide under their own power. I suspect their is a straw and bib involved in how he/she takes their meals.

There's a huge difference between using the capital of, say it with me, PRIVATELY HELD COMPANIES, and taxpayer funds. There is no possible way you can be that stupid and able to breath without a machine. Also, if you honestly believe that the government spending anywhere from $500k-$1mil per job created in an industry is good for our economy, do society a favor and please don't reproduce. If you were the fastest sperm I don't even want to think of how stupid your children will be.
As loudly as Wordkyle is squealing about it, must mean this must is a very good thing for the country.
And wordkly knows how Gore structured is sale how? And might Gore be one of the 1%ters?
If wordkyle is right, one more example of a rigged tax system in favor of the rich.
this deal was structured offshore and funded thru foreign banks, so none of this money will be taxable by the US Treasury, so how is there any benefit to our country? do we need Al Jazerra and Sharia Law? should Gore be taxed at the new rate? and who could eat more fried chicken, Christi or Obamma!
People who call Christie a rhino have rhino rears.
404 - Aw, Gomer, you really ought to read more. There's a whole big world out there.
5:25------
Interesting points. I assume the fried chicken question is rhetorical.
Obama is black. So they keep telling me
