The same people who laugh about AA closing Alliance and laying off are the same ones who complain about unemployment being so high. They laugh at their own areas misfortune and the domino effect of the jobs outside Alliance that will be cut because of this. Sad we have become a society where the middle class could be paid to kill the other half of the middle class.

Congrats to Dr. Townsend and Decatur HS for being named a national Apple Distinguished School.
well Done!
Few leads would have the courage or vision to launch a computer initiative. You likely had to over come many naysayers to mad this happen!
You have earn my respect and admiration

11:01 I agree! It's similar to the old saying, "If your neighbor loses his/her job it's a recession. If you lose your job, it's a depression."

Another jab at BG on the WCM opinion column.
Newspapers are going the way of the dinosaur & the journalist are sticking their heads in the sand.

Seems I recall the DISD administration used to BE in the building Weatherford College is using now. They just HAD to move out of there because that place didn't have enough room, so the current administration building was built. (I always thought it looked like a smaller building and wondered back then why the move was ever made. Did they just want a new building?) NOW they are moving BACK into the old building? If there wasn't enough room there before, why is it enough room now?

11:54 - you forgot to mention the comments from some Wise County leaders calling for the resignation of Terry Ross. Another jab at BG?

RE: Opinion in the Mess

Dear Mess,

You mess'd up getting the verification of the statement. Stop redirecting your error to the source.

Get over it, move on.

12:28- Don't worry, your house will magically be worth about $20,000 more next Tax Valuation, so DISD will have plenty of money to pay for the move. Thank goodness they won't "raise taxes" to pay for it.

In reading these posts for about a year or so, I have come to the conclusion that liberals are so completely out of touch with reality that there is no turning back. They live in some sort of dream world where everyone is completely equal regardless of contibutions (or lack of) to society. When they can't argue the points, they attack the messinger until they are completely ineffective. The equivalent of shouting someone down until they just tire of trying. For that reason, once I see that BG has read and posted this, I will be deleteing this link and will not be back. Thank goodness most of the commentors do not live in Wise County. What a sad place this would be if they did. As usual, they don't have a clue how to solve any problem or have any kind of a rational discussion about the important issues of the day. Thanks for enlightening me as to your true nature. No thanks to your politics.

Keep up the good fight WK. Rage, I just hang my head in shame for you. And all the others that are too scared to sign your posts, "Please just go jump into the lake, prefferably not Lake Bridgeport".

So long,

Big Ed
Bridgeport Class of '77

And that's why public education was cut in last session, Big Ed of the BHS class of 77 and his Bridgeport tank truck driving buddies voted for the Republicans who got the state budget cuts off the backs of the schoolchildren in this state, and now they will be lucky to graduate BHS, let alone actually get a degree at UNT, and actually get a good job at Lockheed....But hey...the world needs ditchdiggers too!

If I recall correctly the laptop expenditures were approved by the board. They deserve credit for stepping up and being progressive!

Decatur cheifs into a bigger/renovated building because if they don't spend the money in the district's building/maintenance funds, the state will come in and eventually say that we don't need it, take it, and then demand more from us since we are considered a property rich district. This could all change when the class action lawsuit that Decatur ISD has joined against the State of Texas regarding school finance is settled.

Interesting that you rant against the Messenger ... then post every issue on your website. Can you not get along without them?

Anonymous said...

4:49, are you always so "off base?"

What the heck does 11:37s statement have to do with what 12:28 said?

You must be a suck-up. Suck-ups never make connections because all they do is follow along. 11:37 is praising a reward the district received. 12:28 is questioning the move DISD is planning back to a building that was previously too small for the administration.

Got it now? duh!

Anonymous said...

Of course DISD is moving to a bigger building so they can AGAIN add more administrators while "paying" more classroom teachers to leave.More higher paid people at the top!!

Anonymous said...

So "big ed" you and "wk" are not anonymous posters?

Anonymous said...

The main reason people are laughing about the AA closings is because it's union workers.

DUH

Anonymous said...

DISD would never over pay administrators and cut teachers jobs and ay others to leave. That would be crazy.
Thay are not like American Airlines or General Motors

Anonymous said...

Well said, Big Ed.

3:07 What a typical response with no credibility or substance.

Anonymous said...

If you work, have safe working conditions, fair wages and benefits, cut your nose off while laughing at unions. Those that do not belong to unions still reap the benefits. Otherwise, you probably would not be laughing quite so much.

Haven't bought a Messenger in over 3 years. Now if they would just stop sending me junk mail (All Around Wise) things would be great.

Maybe you didn't get the irony that was intended in 3:07's question. I got it so I know it wasn't that subtle.

Let's see, an award from Apple to a district that buys exclusivly Apple to the tune of millions.

The award was actually for "best customer."
