Just Watched Closing Arguments On Punishment

Sounds like a run of the mill dope case. He faces 2-10 years on one case and 2-20 years on the other.

His criminal history:
2009: Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon
2006: Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (felony)
2006: Assault - Family Violence
2006: Theft by Check
1999: Assault - Family Violence

But my favorite part came from the defense lawyer who told the jury, "If the destruction of this man would lead to the elimination of drugs in Wise County, I'd do it for you. I would stomp on him like a cockroach and spread his innards from wall to wall."   He uses that line all the time, and it always cracks me up.

"...the destruction of this man..."
That's a good one. Sounds like he is doing a pretty good job of self-destruction, and taking others down with him. Sixth offense in just over ten years makes him a career criminal.
The prosecutor can claim "The incarceration of this man would lead to the reduction of drugs (and criminals) in Wise County."
Next!

Possibly a psychological tweak of the jury -- "Well, we don't want to go that far...." As a defense lawyer, BG, what do you think of the line?

Lock him up for the max or the next line on this list will be murder. Color me "Odd" but I have no compassion for repeat offenders of violent crimes. One only has to open the daily news or fire up the Internet to see articles of recently released or repeat offenders taking innocent lives. For those wondering, yes I am pro "death penalty" in selected heinous crimes.

I seem to have lost the "Odd" crayon from my box. Anyone have one to color 11:36 with? There were no "death penalty" offenses there Speedy.

Hey, I'd say until he gets to 8-9 offenses, DWI's or killed or injured someone; parole him, slap him on the hand and a little rehab. There are more lawyer fees to be made here!

my gosh, i saw where he was citizen of the year in newark in 2004. sheesh.

Anybody make sure the lawyer had a bar card?

Who the hell is Stinson. This happens all the time in Wise County
and every state. Why did they make it a big news flash? Book him Dano. Just get er done.

He's got a bar card at some of the best in the area.

12:02, I'm guessing I missed where 11:36 suggested the death penalty in the instant case. Seems he/she just expressed approval in certain instances.

Speedy reader, are you?
