Texas Senator Is Against Crash Diet In Support Of Immigration Reform

The Dream Act would allow a fairly quick path to citizenship for illegal immigrants that came to the U.S. while under 16. However, it would require either enrollment in a college or the military and not having a "criminal record."  It's said to possibly impact two million people.

I'll take that as a reasonable suggestion. And so do a bunch of students in San Antonio on a hunger strike until it passes.

This silly "deport 'em all!!!" mentality is failed logic. Something must be done, and this would be a reasonable starting point.

Story.

"Attending college....", and we'd have to pay for it? I don't think so!

"Failed logic"

Here is the failed logic. It is the idea that those who want to deport people who broke our laws crossing the borders requires that we deport all 20 million or zero. That is always the choice. Stupid liberals cry...."you can't deport 20 million people" and the MSM agrees with them and they think they have made a clever argument. But it is a false premise. You don't deport 20 million..you deport all you can catch and process through the system as quickly as you can get them on buses. You enforce the law. If the liberals hate the law, they should win elections and change the law. Ignoring the law makes people think that liberals don't believe in the rule of law and are therefore unAmerican since we are a nation of laws.

4:23 Good point. The bad thing is when they are deported they are back across within 2 weeks.

Trust me. I've seen it with my own eyes.

The message has always been and especially a few years ago when the big fight about it began was
SECURE THE BORDER'S FIRST!
Then lets have a conversation about what to do with those here. The amnesty for all crowd has always framed, and began the argument, that you cant deport everybody. The message was, secure the border,, not deport everybody.

I think we are very capable of securing all borders. Then absolutely deport all criminals you can. I cant imagine scooping up the illegal parents of a legally born third grader and then sending the parents back to where ever.
My thought is:
Because of such circumstance, the parents could stay, raise the children whom are legal citizens now. The parents stay, but no welfare, no social security, nothing. Work and save for the latter years, probably like we all should. Its the children responsability to care for the parents in the later years. Looks like with a secure border, the problem would eventually take care of its self.

York: That's why Barry and Pres. Reagan etc., who think amnesty is the right answer and is a starting point are wrong. If nothing is done to improve the border situation then the sieve we have now will again lead to amnesty because they continue to come. Seal the borders and start rounding them up and deporting them.

4:23 Nailed it! Send 'em home!

Confiscate property belonging to businesses who hire them and there will be no need to send them home - they would walk back to Mexico at their own expense because they could not find a job. A few carpenters who are American citizens would be in demand. Sorry builders, but you would have to pay a little higher wage and withhold social security and income tax. Sorry greedy materialistic Americans, but you would have to settle for a smaller house for the same price as the McMansions you have grown accustomed to and were built by illegal/slave labor.

yeah,,,send them all back....except for the ones doing most of OUR work for less than any of us would do it for.

I still say if you want to watch a liberal weenies' head explode, enact the same immigration laws as Mexico has. Problem solved.

Send 'em back. If they step one foot back across the border, fire ONE warning shot.If they're entering our counrty illegally, then it should be considered an invasion. Our 2nd amendment guarantees us the to defend our homes, and our country. If you don't agree, then take yer whiny, liberal asses back across the border with 'em. We as a country HAVE to stop catering to these damned parasites.

"If the liberals hate the law, they should win elections and change the law."

Isn't that what they are doing? Passing a law to, um, change the law?

The problem is that no one fully reads the entire bill anymore. The glaring loophole in this bill is that it DOES give criminal illegal aliens the right to get a green card. READ THE FINE PRINT!

A couple points:

There is no such thing as a job that an American won't do.
Cheap labor = cheap piece of crap product.
Illegal means illegal for everyone but illegals.

To 11:38, go back to Mexico and play hide and go F yourself jackass.

The statement that "illegals do the work Americans don't want to do" is true, but is an invalid comparison because of the system we have set up. A laborer in Mexico can work for, say, $15, or he can come to America and perform similar work for $100. Easy choice for him. An American can do that work for $100, or he can choose to just hang out and draw unemployment or welfare for $95-$100. The latter is the choice more and more Americans are opting to take, and it is unsustainable. Providing 155 weeks (3 years) of unemployment is beyond reason, and could, along with the rest of the tomfoolery that Congress has been producing, just tip the ox into the ditch.

Why can't I break the laws that I don't think are fair? I mean, 70 mph is just too slow to get around this great state. I am going to start driving 90. And to save more time, I will do my drinking on the way home instead of after I get there. I mean it's just a law I am breaking, nothing important.

Put the unemployed on the damn borber. Give them a gun and a quota, same as the highway patrol.
Problem solved.

My son was mowing grass last summer to earn college money. At the end of June he was told that due to the poor economy business was slow and he was laid off. The next week he saw the company truck that his crew used parked at a commercial property that he had been mowing. He and one other American had been replaced with illegal labor. A little checking and he found out that the illegals were paid $7 per hour instead of the $9 per hour that he had been making. Unemployement numbers are affected by illegal labor. Something like 50,000 new jobs were added last month. However, approximately 65,000 new illegals cam across the border. Go figure.
