The Drug War: 2009

Just walked up to the courthouse and it looks like we've got a drug case going to trial. I saw Jim Shaw out of Fort Worth at the defense table. The jury just got picked: 7 women and 5 men if I remember correctly. It was 1:40 and they hadn't broken for lunch yet although I think that was about to happen.

I was on the panel, just got back to the office. I didn't think Mr. Shaw would ever finish and quit following Rabbit trails. Maybe that is why I'm not on the Jury, I didn't give him the attention he wanted.

Yep, Greg Lowery and his associates are going to trial on a felony case--something he promised the voters he'd do if elected. He may only be observing on this one, but he'll be in the thick of things soon. It's going to be great with both prosecutors' offices running smoothly at the same time (District Attorney and County Attorney)!

Are y'all sure this isn't a Montague County drug case? I'm just wondering, since Wise County appears to be running Montague County these days.

Yep, Mr. Lowery is after them all right. I guess that is why we had DWI's under him and Ms. Jones that were plea-bargained for 1 day suspended sentence and no time served.

Idiocracy in Wise County confirmed.....from "The Accomplice".....

"I came to work today and was informed that one of the guys in the office has Staph. Apparently he got it from a Montague County inmate. At least that is what "we" will say. Any who, I wiped my desk down with anti bacteria cleaner.,......

The Wiseguys better come up with something better than this because they are making themselves look REALLY stupid, and the conspiracy theory even more likely.

Like I said before, the bigger they think they are, the harder they fall. I'm talkin' to you, Accomplice. Better shut your Barney Fife trap there, girl.

The only thing that the local Messenger could say for me to consider big news is that they fired Bob Morgan and hired a sportswriter.

Let's see, newspapers reporting on themselves, lawyers infesting all the legislative bodies and running around making a bunch of laws that only lawyers can deal with. when will we get a pot-head for a drug czar? wait,, we already have one we call PEOTUS, or just Otis for short. And what's up with that guy smoking cigarettes? I am a smoker, and when all this rabid anti-smoking movement got well under way in the nineties we joked that the irrational prejudice against smokers made us the "niggers ot the nineties". Well electing one (a smoker) POTUS without so much as a peep from the media about it reeks worse than an ashtray with Bud light and cow manure in it. And does he get to smoke in the white house. I think that would be so dark.

Hey if I send in a comment and forget to mark anon, then it's like a google blogger that doesn't input his info. And if that comment disappeared where would it go? See, I kind of need it back for sentimental reasons.

I'm very happy that Lowrey is IN and Jones is OUT!! And you people who keep putting down our local law enforcement,..... uh, you might want to stop and think about what you would do without them. I appreciate those guys and gals very much!!! Not too many have the guts to put themselves in that kind of a dangerous job. . . and when you call......they come! Stop your biatchin' and join 'em if you think you can do better!!!

Wow 8:51. Thanks for the advice. It's something I've always dreamed of; a job with a bunch of overweight egomaniacs carrying guns and producing nothing of real value. I'm so all over this.

I was on this panel and in your picture. If this was a college class and Shaw was the professor, I would be at the registrar's office dropping the class. How redundant can a person be? Yea, I understand probation. I was so bored. There was no lunch break and my stomach was growling for food about 1:30 p.m.

Typically, I have very positive things to say about the majority of the members of Wise County's law enforcement community. However, after having one of the, obviously, less professional members of the Sheriff's Department ride my bumper, at 72 mph, all the way from B'port only to have the cretin, at 8:59 PM, swerve off of 380 into the, over crowded, parking lot of the closed and recently sold, One Stop, in RAB, to blare the siren and flash their light array for skittles and giggles makes me believe the Sheriff's Dept. has lowered the bar. I know the siren, screeching tires and lights were for show because I doubled back and, sure enough, there was nothing more than back slapping and laughing going on in the parking lot.

I could not help but be disgusted by the needless expense of that little joy ride to RAB so some doofus deputy could yuk it up with his buddies at the closed One Stop. I wonder how many times a day stunts like that happen.

To Barry...
I am not certain you are aware of this but the comment option has been deactivated on the blog post relating to what is happening with the Wise Messenger.

Okay, perhaps I KNOW you KNOW!

The new automated system at the wcso is ridiculous. Your told it will tell you all you need to know about an inmate, like if their arraigned. Some people have preset bonds on their warrant, but the flyer at the jail says they have to see the Judge first. The dispatch will tell you can tell if they have seen the Judge, because their bond is set. No, it was already set and they were booked in so close to arraignment time I needed to check and see if they made it in time or would have to wait tell the next day? Finally I was advised they didn't see the Judge yet, so would think per the new policy of having to see the Judge first, I advised the parents they would have to wait tell the next day. Some how they were out before the next morning.
Now the plot thickens, we have all of Montague County inmates.
I have witnessed inmates families driving all the way to WC jail just so they can talk to a person, because they can't find out stuff they need to know by phone.
Not true, some people with out of county charges the system will advise the charge is out of county, but where?

Well since the Messenger and this Blog have such a chummy relationship, can we assume our blog author gives them the names of some anonymous posters?

Anon 8:51 -- if there is a policeman behind you with their lights & sirens on you pull over ~ and quit following them or "doubling back" so you can see what is going on......

mzchief,
i have read your post, and want to offer an explanation. When Deputies are dispatched to a call that requires lights and sirens, then they activate them and drive accordingly. Often times, another officer will arrive sooner, tus allowing the officer you may have seen to reduce, but continue en route. perhaps when you drove back by, the call had been cleared, and what you saw were associates explaining what had occured. I can assure you, Officers do not drive fast for candy!

The Sheriff's vehicle was running WITHOUT lights and sirens. It was nearly 9: PM and DARK thus there was no way for me to KNOW who the idiot was that was riding my bumper until they swerved off of 380 and flipped on their lights and siren when they screeched into the One Stop parking lot. Had you read and comprehended my original comment you would KNOW this information.

As for doubling back, I pulled into the parking lot of the bank less than 50 yards from the One Stop and observed that there was NOTHING but a full fledged game of skittles and giggles going on. No other cop, no official call, just a speedy run to RAB to yuk it up with buddies cleaning out the leftover stock from the sold and closed One Stop.

All you have to do is check the dispatch records to KNOW there was NO call to RAB, last night.

Defense of our deputies is futile. I, and obviously others have too often followed a vehicle travel without lights and sirens at speeds as much as 20mph over the posted speed limit to non-emergency calls such as the lunch special at the Alvord truckstop. Better look out at shift change time, the west side of Decatur gets pretty dangerous with all the gun totin' cowboys tryin to get off the clock first. Ofcourse that is to the taxpayer's benefit. Too much overtime gets expensive. At time and a half that calculates up to..................9 bucks an hour!

mzchief,
i guess there is no making you understand. the law says Police do not have to run lights and sirens if it could cause more problems, then runnning with them on. around here, i.e. 287, people don't look through their mirrors. it is far safer to drive without lights and sirens, then with them on. the first thing people do is hit the brakes! all you have to do is maintain your speed and change lanes, but 9 times out of 10, people will damn near lock up their brakes!
