Good News: Don't Worry About Your Tax Bill
I was driving the family truckster down the road this morning (foregoing my normal routine of listening to Barbara Streisand or singing show tunes) when I heard KLIF play this audio clip. It's apparently a few months old but I had never heard it.
And, man, I love the reporter. Bad tie. Good question-asking-person.
And in the words of former Dallas Cowboy Darren Hambrick when he was asked why he had skipped the voluntary mini-camp of the team, "What do voluntary mean?"

It's simple, our taxes pay for his salary and benefits which are far better than our own. We pay for his vehicle, gas, license and registration. Our tax money is also used to pay Lobbyist. Just think how well off we would all be if we didn't have to pay, just those items. Harry Reid is a career politician because everything he get's is on the teet. Other than that he's an idiot. I have said it before and I will say it again, how would things change in Washington if the majority of people did not pay their taxes? They can't put us all in jail. I have a bigger problem with how these idiots spend my money than I do paying taxes i.e. bailing out the auto makers, what a joke. Shut them down, do away with the union and find out who really wants to work. If we aren't careful the federal government is going to own more than banks.
Does this not prove that Nevada has the most ignorant citizens in the US? This man couldn't even run a donut shop.

paying income taxes on "income from any source" is not optional...the REPORTING of income and expenses is voluntary. Crazy Harry is not correct in his explanation. I have had clients that were conscientious objectors..meaning the chose to not pay their taxes since it is "voluntary". These same people are in deep doodoo with the government requiring my services...Just sayin'. I dare you, double dare you to voluntarily NOT pay and let's all see what happens. Who is with me?

A Senator Democrat from Nevada trying to explain that income tax is a voluntary action? That's about as worst as a Gay Black Man. I love it how he contradicts himself at the end by accepting that if you don't pay taxes there "will" be a fine or punishment involved, but then makes it clear by his "phraseology" that "Taxation is Voluntary"... Oh Liberals...
If we do not "voluntarily" pay our taxes, the tax man will cometh with his big black briefcase and haul your butt either
to jail or to your bank where he will make you draw out all your money in the form of a cashiers check made payable to Uncle Sam. Voluntary my foot. Been there, done that.

he's conflating volition with choice. It's as if a thief comes up to you and says, your wallet or your life. You have an option, but neither is voluntary.
The Boston Tea Party was the result of a 2 cent tax. I do think Washington needs a little more than a PARTY to see that history, oh so often, repeats itself.

Jeezy Creezy, I'll never get that 4 minutes of my life back. But you're all wrong. The whole damn thing was retarded because of the interviewer (and the tie). The whole discussion after the initial question was pointless. The interviewer got his panties in a wad over the objection to phraseology, when a good interviewer would have just rephrased the question. Yes, Harry Reid was splitting hairs, and yes he is usually an idiot (sorry BuBear), and yes he was avoiding the question he was asked, but his assertion was correct. I wonder what you think, BG...I notice you didn't actually comment. Maybe because you, as one of Reid's fellow lawyers, understand the importance of verbal distinction in your profession? The paying of taxes IS voluntary, it is not compulsory (at least until they catch you).
