Open Carry

The legislature will apparently be bombarded with requests that concealed handgun license owners be allowed to carry the handgun in an unconcealed manner. (Which really messes up that CHL acronym.) I'm not sure how I feel about this. I guess if I am oblivious to the fact that some nutcase in Sweetie Pie's is packing in a concealed manner, I'm not sure I'd feel any better if he placed his Ruger next to his plate of chicken fried steak. And if I still understand the Penal Code, did you know you could walk down the street right now carrying a shotgun or rifle?

By the nutcase reference....are you speaking of concealed carriers? Have you actually heard of a case where a concealed carrier commited a gun related crime? I have tried to notice a case but have not found one.

Isn't open carry just another contrived political issue that is designed to help Texas Republican politicians get and stay elected? Like the Jesus, homosexual and abortion issues, just to name a few, that are standard fear-based fare for the terminally uninformed.

I think it's a great idea. Put the gun toters in the same room as the NCAA guys who won't vote for a playoff system.

I'm all for gun rights but not sure I want to sit next to Itchy-Finger Charlie while listening to him complain about his problems. I'm not sure my chicken-fried steaks and fries would digest the way they need to.

Carrying an unconcealed handgun = "I used to be a nerd/puss/geek, but now I'm a badass!"

Years ago I was in a bar when I heard a loud bang above the roar of the band.

An off duty cop was doing a gunfighter twirling stunt with his gun in the mens room and it went off.

The bullet went through the wall and hit a crippled guy in a wheelchair sitting near the dance floor which was packed that night.

That was an off duty cop, just imagine if everone had been carrying that night.

Who cares as long as she rests her 38's by my plate

In bars you can see all kinds of idiots. Many policemen do not qualify to be concealed carriers due to the stringent requirements. You might wise up and not go to bars.

6:31 While we value your input, are some kind of F'n retard?

"Many policemen do not qualify to be concealed carriers due to the stringent requirements".

All Police are authorized to carry handguns by virtue of their Peace Officer License.

This will prevent what happened in India over the weekend. Have you seen the gun laws that the liberal weenies have imposed on the masses over there?

What kind of homo carries a Ruger?

3:47 PM,I would not have any trouble digesting my food with my model 1911 45 caliber right there for Itchy-Finger Charlie to see, I bet he would mind his manners then!

Criminals will always have guns its best that as many law abiding citizens as we can gather have them also.

Before you lay too much stigma on guns remember they are hacking each other to death in Africa with machetes.

I have never understood the concealed part. If you have a license to carry a gun it SHOULD be out where everyone can see it. Why would anyone want to hide the fact they have a gun?

I have had a CHL for approx. 9 years and have NEVER felt the need to have my weapon on display. As a female, who is 5'6" tall and 112 pounds, I doubt, me walking around, displaying a weapon is a good idea.

I see no real purpose for random people, who are licensed to carry a weapon, carrying their weapon in plain sight.

Mzchief, I'm somehow turned on by the vivid discription you give of the sexual temple that houses the aura that is you.

I find that you may be quite doable at 5-6" 112lbs and wonder if you might have any 8x10 Polaroid snapshots available for our perusal.

To anonymous 8:17...
Thank you. However, I'm quite impressed with the gun carried by Mr. mzchief. *:)

To anonymous 10:59...
Yep! I normally weigh in at 115-118 but lost 5 lbs because I tend to eat like a ravenous locust during the holidays. I have already stepped up my daily workout from swimming 2 miles and stationary biking 20 miles each day to 2.5 miles swimming and 25 miles bike. I do yoga 3 times a week and LIGHT free weights 2 times a week. I HATE free weights and bike while eating lunch and watching television.

To anonymous 11:34...
Ahhhh...Thank you?
Buuuutttt....NO THANK YOU!

I can't believe no one's made a joke about the Penal Code yet.

So, here goes...

I'll bet the broad in the picture is well acquainted with the Penal Code.

And another...

BG, you said "if I still understand the Penal Code..." like you used to know more about Penal Codes that you do now. Come on man... you know you love the Penal

Code.

To be perfectly honest, I am quite pleased by the fire power and accuracy of Mr. mzchief's, Dragunov.

Incidentally, you do know the correct spelling is UZI and not "ooozie," right?

Number 1- There is no law or rule that I'm aware of that permits a law officer to carry a conceiled hand gun ever unless he has a CHL and is off-duty and then he has to comply to the same laws as everyone else. Number 2- You can't legally carry in a "bar" if it derives 51% or more of it's business from the sale of alcohol by the drink for on premiss consumption with or without a CHL. The bartender or manager can carry while on the job without a CHL. Thats it. Also, it would probably surprise you at the number of people that are armed around you legally every day in our fair state. You might be glad to meet one of these people some day if you find yourself being robbed or mugged and they come to your aid, but that would be his or her choice, not an obligation on their part. You might keep this in mind before you group us all as "nut cases or psychos" because we go to a lot of trouble to LEGALLY carry a weapon to protect our families from the ones that don't LEGALLY have the right to do so. They are the reason we go to that trouble and expense every few years.

Been around weapons all my life, in military, civilian, and law enforcement. Nobody has a worse gun safety record then police officers, I know more cops that have punched off rounds accidently then any other group of people who use weapons. Why is it that just because they get a badge the public somehow deems them to have some NINJA like expertise on the art of weapons handling. As a CHL holder I carry every where all the time, even my spouse carries now, because when seconds count the High Sherriff or Rex are only long minutes away, and of minimal competency.
