This girl's accomplishments at the State Track Meet made just a tiny blurb in the Dallas Morning News yesterday. But I expect a wave of publicity now. Story. And, for the local tie, the Jack County District Clerk told me about this gal about a month ago.
Edit: Good lord, people. Back off the comments (that I have rejected left and right.) She's a kid.

Now THAT'S a great kid! Congratulations to her and her school!! I'm impressed.
Are they sure her last name isn't Thorpe?
Check her pants, I don't think it was a born a woman.
Not much of a looker, unless you're into guys.
We need more of that hot female pole vaulter from California.
She reminds me of Tom Cruise in the face.
C'mon, man! why you gotta be hating like those d-bags over at Fox sports. Their comments ranged from "she's ugly" to "no big deal -lots of kids do it up north" and "the stats aren't that great next to 4A/5A kids". It's a neat accomplishment and the picture wasn't posted as a "Hey Now!"
Positive accomplishments should evoke an overall tone of positive comments. There are plenty of opportunities among the many subjects posted to make negative comments
Bruce Jenner looks good for his age.
not much of a looker? that is a 15-year old kid. do you look at all teenage girls with that thought in mind?
she is beautiful young lady that is in a league of her own. wise county - eat your heart out.
To 1:46 PM--you mean some sports commentators were downplaying this achievement on the air? If so, I am amazed at their callousness. Of course, I am usually not amazed at the stupidity of our media nowadays.
To all the comments about her looks, go do what she did, sweat your butt off, slap a T shirt on over your gear, don't give a flip about your hair or makeup, and see how you look in the mirror. Not to mention that kids her age are supposed to be a little gangly and skimpy in places.
Nope, stats aren't that good compared to 5A, but she competed in 1A. Nope she's not very attractive, but she was competing in state track event, not in Miss Teen USA, or girls gone wild.
Bottom line, she (as an individual) won the 1A state track team title - all she has to say is "SCOREBOARD". Grats to her - awesome accomplishment no amount of losers can EVER take from her.
You guys must think the ideal woman is Paris Hilton. This will be an attractive woman in a few years if you aren't myopic. Which of you can claim to have done anything to compare, except maybe trying to start a fire by rubbing a few dry word together.
Sorry 3:46 - what I meant was the comments on the Fox Sports story linked from MSN. You know, the same kind of morons as what we get here.
Some folks who post here may think WC has a monopoly on stupid people making stupid/racist/narrow-minded comments, but sadly, that is not the case. Not sad that we don't have the monopoly - sad that it's a universal thing
She is very refreshing. At least we aren't seeing fake boobs sticking out of her shirt and a dental implant fake smile.
Wholesome looking girl. Not everybody wants to look cheap.
What would the minister of FM51 think about all these ugly comments.
I may or may not have seen an article in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal last November congratulating this person for winning Rochelle High School's Homecoming King award.
The unfortunate thing is that this person competes in track, which is an individual sport. We'll never know which team this person truly plays for
Maybe she can move to El Dorado and train the young females at the YFZ Ranch. Sprinting and high jumping may help them to elude the lecherous fundamentalists on the prowl there.
She looks like a Ron Paul supporter.
That'll do pig.
