This Is Just Dumb

"The House passed legislation Tuesday that would prevent gamblers from using credit cards to bet online and could block access to gambling Web sites. "The legislation would clarify and update current law to spell out that most gambling is illegal online. But there would be exceptions — for state-run lotteries and horse racing — and passage isn't a safe bet in the Senate, where Republican leaders have not considered the measure a high priority." (more) It's our money. We earned it. We should be able to do with it whatever we so desire. And it is no business of government to tell us otherwise.

If they pass this law, it will cost the high tech industry billions.

I gaurantee you that more computers are broken, replaced, and purchased for the sole usage of online gaming.

It is our money. We did earn it. But I think there are things that the government should prohibit us from spending money on.

Like what, you complete idiot? I'll die and go to hell before I let the government tell me how I can and can't spend my money. Give me one good example of something the government should keep me from spending my money on, and I'll kiss your ass in the Wal-Mart parking lot at midnight.

I sure hope you have nice lips. How about cocaine? Or child porn? Or a hit man?

There are more important items before the government that needs their attention beside GAMBLING. There just pissed they can't get any of that money!

C'mon get busy trying to fix the school system, CPS system, any other government system. Leave the gambling system to the gamblers.

Let's hear it from the right wing nutz. It's YOUR Republican led and dominated House that passed this limitation on your right to waste/spend money on gambling. Hey, reagan, 'splain that away.

Reagan RIP said...

Hey, I just wanna see a good ass kissin at the walmart. And it's the republican senate that doesn't want to take it up.

reagan, You're avoiding the question. How do you explain the Republiccan House passing this bill? Simple. Answer just the one question.

Reagan RIP said...

Uh maybe they are trying to protect people from going into debt and ruining their families?

when will people learn that you can noy dictate morality?there will be drinking, gambleing, and hookers till the end of time anf NO new laws will do one thing to limit it.

11:22 Which publik skool did you atend? 10:56 Whenever I ask a question of you, all I get is name calling. You can dish it out but you can't take it.

Click your mouse, Lose your house. If it were up to me, I would allow it. If your stupid enough to charge your gambling debts with your visa and lose it all, be my guest. But don't ask the government to bail you out with my tax money.I am going to gamble smart and invest in Visa and American Express.

Reagan RIP said...

10:56 Here is how I simply explain the passage of this bill. Now pay close attention. Remember now that this is a Republican house. There were 115 democrats that voted for it and 76 that voted against it. Now go away and direct your anger at those 115 democrats.

I'm torn about this. Before I gave my life back to the Lord, I gambled and wanted sex any and everywhere I could find it (no, I didn't get much either lol). Now, however, this wouldn't affect me.
That having been said. I have a problem with government trying to legislate morality. What about when the government says you can't go but to one certain church? Yeah, it sounds far-fetched, but there's always an over-reaction to problems by government.
What I hate worse than anything? STING OPERATIONS! I saw a guy get busted on Cops recently because he was an old, lonely man and wanted some carnal intimacy. But the COP/PROSTITUTE that drew him in just got him arrested.
That is sad!

"It's our money. We earned it. We should be able to do with it whatever we so desire. And it is no business of government to tell us otherwise."

That's the way I feel everytime I pay a ridiculous amount of income tax.

Same reasoning they should eliminate the estate tax.

Barry you're coming around.

It seems the issue has something to do with charging and not paying for the charges later. Pissed off credit card companies.

reagan, reagan, You poor confused person. You try to blame the Democrats for the gambling bill by saying 115 of them voted for it. You conveniently overlook that 204 Republican voted for it and without the Republican leadership, the issue would never even be brought for vote.

You're right that we who oppose this bill should let all those voting for it (204 Republican and 115 Democrat) that they should stick their nose out of this item. This bill will not curtail gambling; just make it easier for the credit card industry to collect their bills. So here we are, passing laws to help the poor credit card companies chase down the citizens who overspend on gambling ... or what ever else. Republicans should oppose this stuff - but they've taken so much lobbyist $$$$ they'll do anything to get more.

(BTW - while criticizing other’s grammar, please attempt to learn the difference between "your" and "you're." You continually make that mistake).

5:08 I was asked to SIMPLY explain how this bill got passed and I SIMPLY explained how by the help of democrats it got passed. I guess simple explanations aren't simple enough for simple minded people. Sorry about the grammar mistakes. As I told someone else, it is now your job to correct all grammar mistakes on this blog. But you will have to quit your day job because there are alot of them on here. If you owned a credit card company, would it be alright with you if anyone that couldn't pay their bill because of their stupidity, just say to you that sorry I just don't have it because I am a loser? I am sure you would be the first in line at your Senator's office demanding legislation to force them to pay off their debt. Am I right? Just a simple question, but I doubt that I get a simple answer. Those darn capitalists.

reagan, I realize you don't understand how stupid you appear to others, but just please acknowledge, the twice as many Republican voted for this bill than Democrats. The Dems couldn't pass any bill without Republican support. The reverse is not true.

As for you concern about the poor credit card companies, why not expect that they not give excessive credit to unworthy customers? When they do, it's their responsibility to collect - not the government's business. You know, free enterprise and all that stuff. Hire a collection agency not a congressman.

Reagan RIP said...

You don't understand the credit card business. But that's no surprise. They sell off your unpaid account to a collection agency at a huge loss. That's the only recourse they have. How long could you stay in business if that was your only option?

reagan, You continue to demonstrate your shallowness. Bottom line on credit card companies is that they love to hand out cards, then charge huge rates for slow payers. But when the bad credit risks don't pay, they want the government (us) to pick up their losses. Don't you think it's their responsibility to screen their customers and not give cards to poor risks? And then, accept the loss when they make poor choices. It's just not the government's business. And I thot you were a free-market Republican!

Reagan RIP said...

4;52, Are you blonde too? You just don't get it. Try to follow along. Being stupid is not an excuse for dinging out your credit card. Just because they pass out the cards doesn't mean it's free money and you don't have to pay. What happened to personal responsibility? When bad credit risks don't pay, card companies don't want the government to pick up the losses, they want the ability to collect on the debt from the idiot that ran up the debt. I hear car dealers all the time on the radio hollering at low IQ customers that no deal will be refused. Don't they have a screening process? Their recourse is called the repo man. The card companies don't have that option. I hope I didn't type too fast for you and you could keep up. Glad to clear that up for you.
