The Ticket played some of a just released Johnny Cash album called
American V: A Hundred Highways. It has been described as "captur[ing] a legend of American music reflecting on what he knew and understood was an inevitable death with dignity, sadness, and hope. "
And it gave rise to a great discussion: Why does our society want a person to hide when he is no longer on the top of game? Athletes should retire, singers should stop singing, etc. We value youth and energy, it seems, but not old age. And that's wrong.

Heard this on the ticket this morning and from the hardline the other day. This is the kind of thing that just makes you sit there and reflect...the songs and the way his voice sounds is great. It is not the Johnny Cash you remember, but its still great.
I agree that we need to allow people to grow old and not hide away talents that are well used but not used up
Yes Barry, that's true. We do value youth in this society. Many other societies revere their elderly. In these cultures, people do not reach high status until they grow old. Then they gain the most respect and honor. We could learn A LOT from other cultures on this subject and many others.
but, Cash isn't "elderly." He's fucking deceased.
Maybe you should start posting half nude pictures of 45 year olds instead of 18-25.
Me loves me some seasoned women......
And by the way Johnny Cash never could sing, even in his so called prime.
Die in a fire 12:40PM
Would that be a "burning ring of fire"?
LOL! Anons with beautiful, sarcastic humor....now, that's the "ticket!" ;)
I don't think the word to use is "hide", I think that "forgotten" is better.
