Little known fact is that many of these girls try for years, entering pageants in places they have never lived or are not from. Just looking at the brief bios on these girls and you see it throughout. They are so desperate for the superficial acceptance that they will roam Texas looking for pageants to enter. They will endure enless hours of makeup, cosmetic procedures, taped nipples, butt cheeks glued together, midnight fantasies about cheeseburgers they can't have, you name it.
Wow! She's beautiful! anon 10:50am....I noticed that, the Panhandle contestant says she graduated from Rider....is there a Rider in the Panhandle or would that be Wichita Falls Rider?
Any of you race experts know how much "black" blood it takes to be considered black? What exactly is race? Do you know? Dose it matter? Geeze, why does family history have anything to do with judging whether she is qualified to be Ms. Texas?
There is only one race that being the HUMAN RACE. The idea of racial classification using the out dated pseudoscientific terms; Caucasoid, Negroid, Australoid and Mongoloid also known as Asian were based upon cranial shape and had NOTHING to do with skin colour or ethnic preferences. Skin colour only identifies physical characteristics and cannot be relied upon as a means to identify an individual's ethnicity. Stereotypical ethnic preferences based in bigotry such as those listed by "gofish" do not accurately describe members of black or African American ethnicity any more accurately than describing rednecks as Pab’s Blue Ribbon drinking, sister screwing, bar-b-que eating, pick-em up driving, bass fishing, grade school drop-out, bigots unless of course you're describing an individual like "gofish" who may or may not be a redneck.
mschief, nice summary of this "race" thing. It will come a shock to most that race was a term invented by a German in mid-1800's. BTW, how could the bible thumpers rationalize race when we are all supposed to be descended from Noah's family (remember God supposedly drowned everyone else).
Well, I usually say that we are really all just different shades of brown (light, medium, dark). Anybody who is "white" is dead because they've bled to death, and anybody who is "black" is dead because they've been burned to death.

Miss Texas? Don't you mean Miss Fried Chicken, Wadda-melon, Malt liquor, and Chitlin's?
There is a price to pay for that kind of beauty. These girls are only young once. Why should we criticize them for going through all of that?
Lots of older women subject themselves to cosmetic procedures and rigorous exercise plus starvation.
If they turn out like Dolly, it's not all that bad is it?
Our new Miss Texas is certainly a beauty.

She's beautiful, but she doesn't look like she is pure black bred. Also, she said that she got kicked off of American Idol? Anybody remember her?
