Flag Shrinkage

There has been a great deal of buzz about the huge flag that has been flying off of 287 just south of Decatur. I had heard rumors that the wind was playing havoc on Old Glory causing it to be replaced every few weeks - at an uncomfirmed cost of over $2,000 per flag. (Like I said, the flags are huge). Well on the way home this evening I noticed that the usual flag had been replaced with a tiny one. What gives? (I took this pic on the way home. Trust me, there's a flag up there)

Oh well, the USA flag in any size is a great thing to behold!!

I'm the 8:59 PM post, and now that I see your picture, the relatively small flag does look sort of funny on such a big pole!

I saw that coming home on Sunday night. That's probably a pretty big flag, laying on someone's desk! But, all the way up there on that big ole pole, it looks like the size of a matchbox!

Nice.

Yet another one of those "Welcome to Wise County" things.

You know, I really appreciate Mr. Klement putting this flag up, but this looks silly. I agree with bigcatdaddy, people are going to drive through here and laugh their heads off. If you can't do something right, maybe don't do it at all.

You sure there's a flag up there? ;)

Karl Klement did it...enough said.

Why don't the makers of these flags create them to withstand the elements a bit better?

We need another flag flap revolt.

NOW!

what kind of sick person says something like this about a person in discussion about something he has done like this for the community. the flag is down getting replaced. it will be back up... he spends the kind of money he did on something for the community, not to mention replacement, maintaining the flag and lighting it and you want to bitch and moan about it. give me a break.

im not a registered member but i will gladly put my name on this statement.

The wind? Funny...heard this area can't put in any of those long armed windmills for power because we didn't have enough wind in this area. I know some land owners who wouldn't mind leasing out land for those windmills, but that is what they have been told.

Well I heard my info wrong cause I was told that James Wood put that big ole flag up!

Either way, I think the flag needs to be a lot bigger than the one that's up there now even if it's being repaired or replaced because the current tiny one looks silly!

ill tell you what ill do then misty. i dont know him real well but ill call mr klement and tell him that you are suggesting that he have a back up 10,000 dollar flag so you dont have to stare at a small flag. or better yet i bet he would gladly let you sponsor the flag. why dont you just drop the check by his dealorship.... i bet your running out the door for that one.

Brian Hand...I have personally had dealings with he and his wife. I have never in my life seen someone treat a person the way they treated my boss. He who shows respect gets respect. I have none for him or his wife. Good deeds for the community does not mean you deserve the respect from your community. The way he treats some people speaks volumes of his character.

notice your staying anonymous... that speaks volumes...

Uh, why in the world would I put my real name on this thing? THAT would be crazy. Imagine trying to defend yourself on this thing...and by the way, you're anonymous, too.

I figure it's only a matter of time before BG says enough and yanks this thing...people can't seem to just put their opinion about a subject up and not let it get personal with naming actual folks in our community...kinda sad.

Any man who calls himself "king" must have something wrong with him, for there is only one true King! Hallelujah!

And I will sign my name:

Thank you Mr. Klement and Mr. James Wood ....

That's probably because they're probably all made in China by a worker making pennies an hour. What do you expect? ;-)

This isn't a service or benefit to the community. They're car dealers. They are covering the deceit and fraud they perform everyday. It is the nature of car sales. I should know, I work dealer services for the southwest region.

They throw these trinkets out so the public continues to accept th reaming with a smile on their face.

All this over a flag that none of you have any control over. Bitch, Bitch, Bitch. Get over it. I would venture to guess that none of you have the money to replace the original flag. Put up or shut up. Mr. Klement is a local business man that is doing a patriotic service to the community. this has nothing to do with how much money he has or makes. Your jealous.

I think the issue at hand is how silly the little flag looks. I understand the other flag needed to be repaired. Leave the pole empty until it's done.
