Sad, sad, sad story.
I feel for this man, however I worry about the rest of his family and thier thoughts on the subject.
This happens sometimes when one spouse is just so burdened down with sadness over health and/or financial problems.
Yes it is sad and more than heartbreaking!
When my Wife heard about this story she gave me the EVIL EYE ..
She better not even get a head cold ...
Yes very sad. And I doubt seriously that he will be convicted. Chances are he will soon pass away himself.

Hopefully, he will be able to just pass on in peace. As for the 38 year old and the 14 year old, she'll probably get probation. I would rather see her get 50 years!
I am not a rich man ... But I would help pay for his defense ...

The police suggest that this was supposed to be a double suicide. The poor old guy apparently couldn't kill himself. Gun may have jammed. As for the family, that's probably why he tried to end both of them - the family wasn't available to care for her after he died.
This is just one of many such situations in America for our older citizens. And then a spouse that is hospitalized for months, then dies and the partner is left with bills they cannot begin to pay. The poor old man has already suffered. Maybe death will visit him soon and he will have peace.
And.....our government SHOULD take care of old people and children if there is no one who will take that responsibility.
It is immoral not to.
