Flight 93

I said yesterday that I had no desire to see this movie. But Channel 8's Gary Cogill says this: "I'm stunned. United 93 is one of the most profound movie going experiences of my life. It's a film made on the highest level; re-creating, in real time, the morning of 9/11, specifically focusing on the crew and passengers on board United flight 93. " Pretty high praise from a guy who is usually right.

I am reluctant to go see it because I think making money from a tragedy is just wrong. I am however curious to see what happened.

Gary Cogill is usually "right on" regarding his movie reviews. We saw his review of this movie. I think it just comes down to whether you are "ready" to see it or not. Regardless--the movie's reviews all say it is in impeccable good taste and is not exploitative.

Connie doesn't like movies that make money off "tragedy." What oversimplification that is! What movies DON'T involve tragedies? Geeeze - even Bambi and Lion King involve tragedy. Other than mindless musicals, what noteworthy story doesn't involve tragedy and our ability to deal with it?
