Shot Through The Heart, And You're To Blame

Not quite, but the 78 year old lawyer shot by Dick Cheney has taken a turn for the worse. And this headline is not appropriate at the moment (which actually was released on Yahoo News after the above story). Edit: You know, the pellets near the heart sounds like a bad thing. This guy may die.

If the attorney dies, will there be some sort of criminal charges pressed against the Vice President?

I did not know at the time of the shooting the police were NOT ALLOWED to question Chaney?

Then after the shooting .. "Cheney stayed "close but cool" while the agents and medical personnel treated Whittington, then took him by ambulance to the hospital. Later, the hunting group sat down for dinner while Whittington was being treated, receiving updates from a family member at the hospital .....

Good Lord ... He shot someone and then went to Dinner ???

I think it was more than what is labeled the cause ...
"hunter's judgment factor."

Well, I'm on the OTHER spectrum of 'good lord!' Geez! It was an accident!!! An unfortunate event, a mishap! There was no 'premeditation' or carelessness involved in him trying to kill anybody. Nothing criminal involved!

I'd go on to dinner too...it was as unexpected for Cheney as for the man & his family. We can't expect Cheney to stop living just because tragedy has hit...

The BlameGamers are working overtime on this one. It's not always someone's fault. That's why we HAVE "accident" in the English language--they happen all the time.

If I have an aneurysm over a Blog posting, I won't blame Blogger, Barry, or anybody else...;-)

I agree w/Comment4u....the doctor's will monitor him for several more days....he'll be just fine. People need to quit blowing everything out of proportion about this incident. It could have happened (and I'm sure it has) to someone else that isn't as well known as our VP! Give him a break!!

The deal is: You can't trust this administration and there's no telling what happened in that field. And the delay in reporting it makes it all sound more suspicious.

That is awful. But a 78 year old man could have had heart problems anyway and something like that could have certainly contributed to the problem.

Not to worry. Cheney will hire a good lawyer if the man should die.

Likely they are licking their chops watching all of this develop.

Horrible situation for all.

Honestly, just goes to show you that as far as the liberals are concerned, there is no such thing as an "accident" anymore. And of course they are going to turn this all around and start the whole discussion about this administration...blah, blah, blah...it was an accident, very simply...an ACCIDENT!

I understand it was an accident. It happens. But what happens if this man does die? Think of what would happen if you did this to someone else. Or, you didn't mean to, but you just accidentally ran over someone and then they are suddenly in the ICU-later on they die. The chances of you getting manslaughter charges against you are fairly high. Maybe I am being too critical. I mean heck, the Vice President of the U.S. has special law provoking powers right?

2:38: Why would liberals/honest Americans not believe it was an "accident"?
1) The American public has been "misled" time after time after time (Iraq, WMD's, CIA leaks, Abramoff associates, domestic wire taps, etc, etc. etc.)
2) How do you know it WAS an accident? Were you there? Did anyone take a deposition under oath?(FAT CHANCE!)
3) You are as bad to spin one way as anyone else is to spin in any form or fashion.

It probably was an accident, but in light of this individuals (Cheney)past performance in openness and transparency, there is plenty of room for question and suspicion.

I want to make sure I understand everyone ....

You shoot me ... in the face ... (I know by accident) then they take me away....

And then its .. "Hey Lets Go Eat" ... "Call me if you need anything" ...

Boy you guys are truly the "Party" of Compassion ...

Maybe its just me ... But remind me to never go out with any of you folks ... LOL

Anon @ 2:49 you are right! Why do some of these far right wingers attack the media and put a lable on it "liberal media". They were saying over the weekend that it was a "private" indivdual incident and not "newsworthy".

First of all, he IS the VP of the U.S. That makes him a PUBLIC, not a private, citizen.

Secondly, if there's nothing to hide, then why did it take over 24 hours to make public, AFTER A PRIVATE CITIZEN reported it to the "liberal news media"?

Thirdly, it's sickening that the presidents people were making jokes of the situation today.

BEWARE FOLKS!!!

Let's do away with freedom of the press and see what happens...

Oh, get off my 'handle.' >=/

**Granted, if the Pres' staff was making jokes--bad taste, BUT I still think an accident is an accident is an accident....**

Comment4u ..

I promise if you would have an Aneurysm over a Blog Posting or anything else I would ride in the Ambulance with you ... might even hold your hand tell you "It will be Okay"

Then I would go out to eat ... LOL

You are right ... It was a Tragic ACCIDENT ... Lets all pray for this poor guy :)

What DOES happen if this man dies? It's still an accident, tragic, but an accident nonetheless...nothing criminal. Children get shot and killed with their daddy's guns all too frequently in this country...very few, if any, have been prosecuted for criminal charges. If we prosecuted everyone for accidents...there would be even less room in our jails and even more tax dollars going to house them. Come on people! NO, none of us were there, but when any of us give our opinions here, do any of us really know the truth about anything? Are we in the Whitehouse daily? Are we everywhere the stories are? We are merely giving an opinion...gosh!

Any of you ever heard about an auto accident where alcohol was involved? You try to avoid being tested for as long as possible. Better yet, go slug down a big belt of whisky so they can't tell if you were drunk before or just after the event. Did they serve booze at that dinner? Bet they did. Hummm?

Accident! This is obiously a Karl Rove inspired plot to raise Cheney's approval rating...shooting a lawyer! accident my foot

I am enjoying this thread. Twisted, some might think I be, when I say I am also enjoying the Cheney story.

It was an accident!!! There is no conspiracy. People should read reports from the Texas Parks and Wildlife. This is not the first time this has happened. There are numerous reports of accidental shooting quite often in the state. Get informed! Anytime you are out shooting with a group, there is a risk. No matter how much anyone knows about gun safety, there is still a risk. Get off the VP's back.
You gripe because he doesn't rum right out and call the press. Who cares! Maybe he was more worried about the condition of his friend than worrying about the public. Our safety wasn't at risk.
Quit trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. If the man dies, then it is still ruled an accident.

Collection......you butthead! [you DID make me laugh!] Off to McD's while I'm in the morgue, huh? ;)

Cheney was so worried about his victim that he went to dinner with surviving friends. They wouldn't let the local sheriff interview him till the next day. Then he bugs outta town and hasn't been heard from since. This whole arrogant episode stinks.

I think I'm getting carpal tunnel and it's Barry's fault for putting up this blog that I've become addicted to. Oh yeah, he's responsible for my addiction. And to all you hyper-liberals out there, you may be anonymous now but my attorney will hunt you down and you will be responsible for my high blood pressure medication you are causing me along with the pain and suffering my family is faced with from my condition. I'll need a trust fund for my children's future and my wife has to be taken care of in a manner far, far more extravagant than what she is used to. If I find the right attorney, I bet he'll come up with more stuff too.

LOL, Gofish! That made my morning...
