Beating A Horse That Shows No Signs Of Life

Isn't it amazing that Dick Cheney has not made a public statement since his quail-gone-wrong incident this weekend? The most important thing in politics is perception. And he seems clueless - and I can't believe Bush doesn't call him on the carpet and tell him to get this situation under control. All of this silence (causing the press secretary to be beaten to a pulp) just leads to the "perception" that Bush is a puppet and Chaney calls the shots. In conservative columnist Mark Davis' column today in the Morning News, he said "Thank heaven these people run a war better than a hunting accident." I'm not sure that's true at all.

I think they run a war about as well as they handle the hunting incident. Poorly.

Mark Davis? He's nothing more than a fast talking Limbaugh.

And get rid of Cheney? Who would run the country then?

What do you want him to say? Are you expecting him to say all lawyers are bad, that they are greedy and prey on anyone with money? That they need to be shot, even if it is one at a time? Do you need to hear that it was an accident? Just what do you want him to say?

News flash bsg CNBC just said that the vice pres is going to make a statement!

I WILL LET YOU BE THE FRONT MAN!

I guess he suppoase to call the liberal media before he called 911. How dare him disrespect the media!

Why were Cheney and Whittington on a hunting excursion with two women who are not their wives? Does Cheny have a Lewinski problem? Why hasn't the other woman, ambassador to Switzerland, been interviewed? If Clinton was impeached for lying........

Anon at 10:16, since you dislike the "liberal" media so much, let's just do away with freedom of the press and have the government take it over...

We could have such informative programs as "Nightly News with Karl Rove"...or how about "Today's financial report with Scooter Libby" and "Hunting Safety Tips by Dick"...

I'm not opposed to free speech. I just think the media (with it's liberal bent) made jackasses of themselves with their outrage that "they" were not contacted.

Why is a public figure required to make disclosures to them. Let them do their own reporting. I agree it might be advisable to make a statement (versus letting the media make up stuff or quote anonymous sources)

I like your program suggestions though. I think the news would be more factual than the CBS News with Dan Rather turned out to be. And for entertainment how about "Desperate Interns starring Monica Lewinsky" or Extreme Makeover Hillary Edition. I would watch.

If you truly think Cheney making a public statement would put this to rest, you are sadly mistaken.

Well, I half-way watched it, and totally listened to it, and he sounded pretty hoarse - guess he'd been yelling at people for a few days. I also read he admitted to drinking "A BEER" during lunch - hmmmmmmm, some DUI's in his background, his multiple deferments, the “ladies” present………honestly all you cons, you must admit this is excellent fodder for the press, even FAUX News………..some of us are so tired of this admin’s BS things like this make us a little giddy! I think it’s even better than Clinton getting a BJ – and I love the fact that Cheney will go down in history for shooting someone – there was another – can anyone tell me who/what/when/where?

I fail to understand why the national news organizations have their knickers in a knot about this unfortunate accident. If they are going to discuss it they should at least inform themselves a little. 1. Buckshot is about the size of those little round green peas. If shot with BUCKSHOT Mr. Chaneys friend would most likely be dead. He was shot with bird shot. Bird shot is very small even tiny (about the size of Al Gore's brain). I'm sure Mr. Chaney's biggest concern was for his friend, as it should be. Now what's wrong with that. I have been to Corpus Christi , Washington D.C. and New York City I'll take Corpus Christi every time, and they also have a very good newspaper. So QUIT CRYING AND GET OVER IT.

There's lot of strange stuff with this incident. Could be simply a stupid accident (both men at fault but Cheney is responsible). However, there are many other factors that might lead one to suspicious conclusions. "Some" dirinking, female companions not their wives, deputy comes to interview the vp but is no allowed in for 24 hrs. Lots of reasons to wonder. In any case, the Cheney spin machine got all tangled up.

Answer to ealier question: Vice Pres (under Tom Jefferson) Aaron Burr shot Alexendar Hamilton in a duel.

BREAKING NEWS
WHITE HOUSE CONCEALING BUSH NEWS

A reliable source has just revealed
that rather then returning to the ranch house, George Bush while clearing brush at his Crawford Texas ranch relieved himself behind a bush not a small bush but not a large bush one could say a medium size bush. The white house press secretary in an attempted cover-up claims to know nothing of this secretive act despite extensive questioning by the press. Beleving in the peoples right to know he Wise County Messenger and the New York times have filed a freedom of information request in an effort to obtain the full story.

You go bird hunting-your gonna get peppered. That is what it is called when someone else's shot falls on you.

I heard the guy walked up behind Cheney. True, Cheney is ultimately responsible, but it happens every day somewhere in Texas during Dove/Quail season.

I'd rather go hunting with Cheney than riding with Ted Kennedy.
