Insanity Defense ???? ......I would have never guessed that one...I do not know all the details / facts but on her Judgment day I think she will be taking that elevator down ...Very Sad ...
Wild animals don't even go rabid on their own young in that manner...truly, truly sickening. I'll never get it...
coment4u, By your response, you must think she's insane. Does anyone think her head is right? My question is, for how long has she been nuts and why has no one done anything about it?
Who knows what is happening in her head. My guess is that she lives in a personal hell we cannot imagine. My cousin had a dear friend who hung herself from a tree right after Christmas suffering from depression that some women go through after the birth of a baby (I can't rememeber the name). While it is a sad, sad story, I can't imagine what this lady faces in this life or any other but I know it's not good. Fortunately, she is part of a very, very small minority of people with children who suffer through this.
How bout the ugly defense...
Looks like a wicked witch to me!!
I looked up several stories about this. Yes she is a nut but she still deserves to die ASAP. She was sane enough to call 911 after she committed her crime. Do we want this person out in public? Not me. Do we want to pay for her care the rest of her life? Not me.
In answer 12:15...I'm not so sure I'd deem her 'crazy.' I lean towards mad, actually. The two words are very interchangeable, I know, but to me, crazy = loony, wheels off, unstable. Mad = wicked, aberrant, diabolical. That woman is mad. Sickeningly mad, and should, like a rabid dog, be put out of her misery. And, ok, so I'm for capital punishment...I think if we could hear/see that child in her last moments, we'd all agree on this one?
She looks like Robin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire.
Yes, unfortunately some wild animals do kill their young. Maybe not with knives, but certainly with their teeth. She is not sane. I grew up with a paranoid schizophrenic mother. She was and is a good woman but did not always do good things. Most things were not horrific but there were several occasssions where she was pretty far out there. I can believe this woman, like Andrea Yates is/was delusional and not responsible for her actions. She is not capable of responsible behavior. I don't believe for one minute this woman is in any kind of personal hell. She doesn't have the same emotions or sense of right and wrong as mentally healthy people. On some level and on some days, she may feel regret but from my experiences with my mother, I don't think so. We all tend to project our emotions on other people and until you have lived with those people you can't fathom that they can't have those emotions but they just don't. I am just now after 45 years beginning to understand that. That said, I think the death penalty still is an acceptable punishment here. She will never get better, at least not enough to live in Society. Even if her condition can be somewhat controlled with drugs no one will want her to live next door or be anywhere around kids. There just isn't a place for her in our society. We as a society must have lines that define acceptable behavior. If you cross those lines then you can't stay. It isn't a matter of pity or being a liberal or a conservative, it is a matter of self-preservation.
Wasn't this another case of being way too much on the religious right? Wasn't she, like Andrea Yates getting personal messages from God?
I can guarantee that she was not getting messages from God. Quite the opposite. Sounds like a cop out to me. i agree with Comment4U. This is the most horrendous act and horrible way to die and crazy/mad or what she needs to be punished severly!
I'm all for capital punishment, but I have a different take on this. The most unnatural thing in the world is for a mother to kill her child, especially in a horrific manner. Unfortunately, these incidents seem to be occurring more frequently. That said, there has got to be a physiologic problem that leads to these incidents. We need to find out what is causing these women to do such things and the only way to do that is to study these women for clues to their aberrant behavior. Lock them up...sure, and try to discover what is happening in these people's minds. Until we do this as a matter of policy, we will continue to read these horrible headlines.
I'm really opting for "An Eye for an Eye," Where's the dull instrument?
