Police Shooting of Man In Montague County (May Involve Wise County Troopers)

A police dog was also killed. Always hate the death of a puppy dog. RIP Pepper.

But a very odd report as the news was breaking: "Now what we know through our experience and you as viewers here at the station -- is that a K-9 dog is a police officer. If you assault a canine dog you are assaulting a police officer. And that would take deadly force into response." - Steve Eager, Fox 4 News with a tortured attempted explanation of the Texas Penal Code of which I was not aware.

And I thought we used dogs because they weren't people.

Silly me

Officer Pepper? That is retarded.

sorry for the dog, but good there is no need for trial for the perp, he got the death penalty just a little bit quicker than most

There is a special place in hell for people who would kill or injure a dog.....

They use dogs because they are umpteen times smarter than people.

A dog is a dog it is not human. It is trained to do what it does.If a dog is chasing me and I feel its gonna bite me. If i have a gun its getting shot.Keep dogs out of the police work if you dont want it hurt . The dog was forced into the job I know he didnt apply for the job.

RIP Pepper

A Police Dog's Oath

" I will lay down my life for you and expect nothing but love in return.
I protect my officer with my life
and would gladly take a bullet in his place.
I am sent to find lost children and fugitives on the run.
I find drugs and weapons and even bombs.
I am the first sent in and sometimes the last to leave.
I am the nose and ears of my officer.
I will portect and serve him.
I would die for him and for you,
I only ask for compassion and a kind word."

Sending prayers up for his partner.

Agreed 9:55. A human life should not be equated with the life of an animal.

If so, I'd like to set up a trust fund for my hamster and declare him as a dependent.

You whom don't know the oath & meaning of a K9 Officer, need to refrain from your your non educated weakness...

9:55, keep dogs out of police work if you don't want them hurt, what about women and minorities? If you are running from the cops and you have a gun and you decide to shoot it out well, your a special kind of stupid and if you get to take a little dirt nap at the end of your bad decision well, you should have stayed out of crime if you didn't want to get hurt.

women and minorities have a choice a dog does not. we just say oh he will be good at this. then we sign him up he gets shot by bad guy then people dont understand how anyone could shoot a dog.i dont see how anyone could shoot a person but it happens way to often

12:23 some how I believe that you and your hamster do have a special kind of love/ bond.... You should set up a trust, or at least a pre/ nuptial

How does a dog become a SGT of anything other than licking himself.. It's a dog

A lot of folks here seem to think a dog is more important than a human plus they want people with differing opinions to simply shut up. I think maybe we got us some human LEOs on here. If you want me to shut up, come and make me. Otherwise, go hang out in the backyard with your dog.

I know it must pain you to read this, but human lives are more important than animal lives. RIP, Alan.
