Sounds Like Insane Decatur Game Last Night

Lost in 4th overtime after Stephenville converted a two point conversion on a halfback pass. (And on the play before they pulled off a fourth down TD from 25+ yards out to tie it.)

The city of Stephenville has 3 times the population of Decatur. How can the high schools be in the same classification? Somethings going on around here.

It has to do with school enrollment, not city population. Decatur has an enrollment of about 880 and Stephenville has an enrollment of about 995. The school with the highest enrollment in class 4A has about 1045 students. The school with the lowest enrollment in class 4A is about 470. Bridgeport's enrollment is about 625.

They are getting older in Stephenville.

This is just the first year of this new classification and your already whining!
I bet you were one of the first to think it was funny when Bridgeport had to play Brownwood a few years back!
You better get used to it!

Both Decatur and Bridgeport - and likely other Wise County teams - have long suffered being smaller than the largest schools in their districts. That is why some very good teams have never gone very far in the playoffs. I was proud of Decatur last night and wish good luck to Boyd and Bridgeport.

Decatur has been the large school of its district for several years (except when Little Elm was in district and Decatur was second largest)
