When the President is considering bypassing Congress to unilaterally restrict a fundamental Constitutional right, comparisons to other tyrants is not unreasonable. We've already had a taste of Obama's real political philosophy and how badly he wants to change American society. With Obama not having to concern himself about being re-elected, no idea can be considered "too extreme" or "out of the question" for him to try to accomplish, Constitution be damned.

Take a note. Obama got more votes than Romney. This happened after Obamacare was passed. I am going to use this as evidence that a MAJORITY of the poplulation wants Obamacare. The fact that a minority does not like the policies of the Government does make them wrong, immoral, illegal or anything else.

I do not believe in the assault weapons ban. I have long been willing to register my weapons, have an extensive background check, give the feds spent casings and bullets for there data base. What I want in return is the 2nd amendment changed to guarantee the right is an individual right for the purpose of protecting myself from the government. That means I should be able to own, or its equivalent, the standard issue weapon given to military. I should be able to own a fully automatic rifle.
My idea, have governor good hair, who I believe would love to poke Obama in the eye, create a well regulated Texas militia. Do the checks and whatever else good hair believes is necessary to create a well regulated militia. Then allow the militia the right to keep their weapons in their home, vehicle whatever ala Switzerland. I would enjoy seeing the Feds argue to the Supreme Court that the State of Texas does not have this right. The fight, I believe, would come down to who has the right to determine the militia is well regulated, the Feds or the State.
One thing I forgot to mention in a previous post that pisses me off about the former assault weapons ban. The ban was about emotion and not functionality of the weapon. I couldn't go and buy a new manufactured assault rifle yet I could go buy all of the Remington model 4 rifles I wanted. The Remington model 4 was, and I assume still is, a semi-automatic detachable box magazine weapon. My came with a four round magazine. I could buy ten round magazines for certain and maybe higher capacity. The point is the weapons were capable of doing the exact same thing. One was outlawed because of emotion and looks. If you are going to pass a law to stop a certain outcome (mass shooting from high capacity semi-automatic rifle) from happening at least outlaw all of the weapons/tools capable to causing the outcome. My Model 4 was a 30.06 caliber. I will take a .223 round to my body any day over a 30.06. Prefer to take neither.

However, contrary to your statement that the legislation says what kind of gun militia members could have, it actually informs them of what they must have. In other words, at least "a good musket or flintlock, a sufficient bayonet and belt," etc. Rather than a restriction on possessing weapons, the Acts promoted their possession.
