Wise County And Government Aid Received

"The share of Americans’ income that comes from government benefit programs, like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, more than doubled over the last four decades, rising from 8 percent in 1969 to 18 percent in 2009."

Wise County is below the national average.
Pretty fancy NY Times interactive national graph here.

I wonder how much of that farm subsidies that many families used to get was counted back in 1969, or was it just cash

How closely does the Texas map resemble the Democrat plan for redistricting?

I simply do not believe these numbers.

Alexander Tytler and his followers:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury.

"From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

"From bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to apathy;
from apathy to dependence;
from dependency back again into bondage."

Hello Greece, Hello Obama!

Archie Bunker was right!

All in the Family Lyrics

Boy the way Glen Miller played
Songs that made the hit parade.
Guys like us we had it made,
Those were the days.

And you knew who you were then,
Girls were girls and men were men,
Mister we could use a man
Like Herbert Hoover again.

Didn't need no welfare state,
Everybody pulled his weight.
Gee our old LaSalle ran great.
Those were the days.

Oh, 12:47 are Perry's buddies on welfare?

1:26, No, but when he gives control to all of his donors, then the populas get screwed out of what is theirs. Look at all of the roads that the taxpayers paid for that he is giving to his big coporate donors to make toll roads out of them.

Republicans are the ones that wanted to change the districts, 10 is the perfect example.

Missing the point all,

Wise County Votes Republican, not Democrat and we are below the lowest average income. We are a Welfare County because of the Republicans. duh....

Look at Wise, looks like we are dependent on some Government assistance like SS, Medicare etc. We also vote Republican. How much of this might be taken away in the future by Republicans.
