Edit: Serena was fined $2,000 today for her outburst. Her total winnings in that tournament: $1.4 million.

I found myself rooting for the Australian Stoser--can't stand rude, spoiled, sports "celebrities"--something Serena is getting known for. Little called infraction, but after a lot of discussion in the tv booth, unanimous consensus was that the penalty point awarded by the umpire was the right call. You just can't scream out loud BEFORE the other player even has a chance to hit the ball, even if you didn't intend to rattle them. I can only remember players shouting after the point was over, come to think of it. Never thought of this as a rule, but it makes sense (and the commentators even came up with similar rules in other major sports, as well). So--even though the crowd booed in support of Serena agains the call, they were uninformed, and Serena proved herself an ass--again.
Just on her way to a "has been" and she can't handle it. Perhaps her sports psychologist should work on that with her. Learn to go out gracefully.
So? It's the sports mentality. What do we expect?
