More Werid Weird Ways To Win A Game

Basically, defense blocks kick, doesn't cover ball, kicking team runs in the ball for a touchdown. It took a while for me to see it but the holder picks up the ball almost instantaneously after the kick is blocked. But being the Rule Genius that I am, wasn't the holder's knee on the ground when he picked it up? And, this being a high school game, shouldn't he be called down at that point? Edit: Somebody pointed out that the holder always has his knee down when he places the ball on the ground so there's an exception for him. But does that exception apply after the ball is kicked?

I am just fine with creative spelling but when it makes me actually have to stop and break out the Creative Spelling deCoding Book you have jumped the shark, my friend.

It was close, but it looks to me like More Werid had his knee just off the ground when he took possession of the ball after the kick was blocked.

I'm with you....his knee is on the ground when he gets the ball. It should be down right there. And mzchief....what the hell are you talking about?

To Barry...
If you freeze the video at the 1:42 point you will see that the player, #87, who picks up the ball has lifted his knee from the ground, immediately, prior to his picking up the ball at the 1:43 point.

what the !!!!!!~

Yeah, it looks like his knee was barely raised when he picked up the ball. I agree, though, that if the knee was touching, it would have been down. They must have felt his knee was not touching (if they thought of that at all).

This is what happens when the kids don't give a 110%.

A field goal attempt is the only time in high school or college football where the player's knee can be down and he can still advance the ball. Hence, the fake field goal.

No... he missed the tag.... right before the ball was called fair.... therefore even if he runs out of the baseline, it's still a touchdown.

Yes, he would be down by grabbing the ball with his knee down. Great awareness by the coach though.

Does Anybody really give a shirt or are you just gay?

This is ismilar to a Kick off kicker whose plant leg crosses or steps on the 40 yard line before the kicking leg actually touches the ball.
Again, there is an exception for the specific player.
BTW....you can always tell if a kid is coached well by which knee the holder has on the ground. The knee towards the line of scrimmage should be the knee down. This is to prevent injury from a would-be blocker running into the holder.
