Decatur = basketball season starts next Saturday. Sucks for you!

If the Harris Ratings do the right thing, the pick this week will be one of those 48+ lines.

The streak is SOOOOOO over.

Anonymous said...

Let me break this down-
Bridgeport was plain their 2nd & 3rd string the 2nd half.
I imagine if all schools recruit players like Coach Neighbors is or has known to do Paradise wouldn't be Squat..
Well it looks like the messenger sports front page will be Decatur Hoops with a little football coverage on the 2nd page huh Morgan ?
I'm sure the Alvoid fans had their own performance enhancing drugs...
Chico needs to learn to be sneaky like Paradise!!

and thats how the cookie crumbles..

THERE WILL LOTS OF TEARS SHED IN DECATUR. GOOD LUCK IN BASKETBALL. YALL COULD COME SUPPORT THE BULLS IN THE PLAYOFFS.

Anonymous said...

What about the Decatur QB getting ejected in the 4th quarter?

Anonymous said...

The Bulls covered the Harris poll 48 pt spread. They did'nt cover Robert Morgan's 54 pt spread, but nobody pays attention to what Morgan says anyways.

Year of the Bulls!!!

Is it just me or is the sports writer for the messenger self-obsorbed

I have never seen so many poor winners as thr are in Bridgeport. Learn to win with class!

What did he do to get thown out?Betcha won't here about that in the Messenger or on the Bridgeport bashfest blog

1:26 , i bet your from decatur. Its kinda funny to see that the shoe is on the other foot now. go bullsssssssssss!

Anonymous said...

Bridgeport covered the only spread that counts.

Anonymous said...

Think he threw interception, slugged a nearby kid in frustration.

Anger management issue for him, coaching issues for Story. Will be interesting to see how he is disciplined with the Big Sandy game on the horizion.

Hmmmm..... You're probably right though, Bridgeport is probably crapping down both legs right now at the thought of the Big Blue.

Robert Morgan is a terrible Sports reporter in my book. He doesn't mind lying to people, either.

ITS TIME FOR DECATUR TO FIND A NEW QUARTERBACK FOR NOW AND NEXT YEAR.

Anonymous said...

decatur hasnt had the greatest season but i have been extremely impressed at the way #21 brandon jones has stepped up and fillled in for chad harrison. he has had a ton of pressure on him and some huge shoes to fill the past two weeks and has done great.chad harrison is an amazing player but so is #21, he has done great the past 2 weeks and i cant wait to see more from him next year. and robert morgan, decatur might not have beat vernon, but you need to find a new job and quit saying decatur cant win w/o #3...theres no "I" in team big dog....hats off to #21, keep up the great work!!!

I wonder if, just before the Nazis took over Germany, the good people of Germany were too busy paying attention to how 15 year old boys did in soccer matches to notice. Perhaps we will have some new national police at games in the future in order to ensure that nobody says anything that someone might take offense to. In other words, to make sure nobody says anything.

ROBERT MORGAN SAYS THE MIGHTY EAGLES BY 7 FRIDAY NIGHT.

Anonymous said...

Somebody explain this to me: "Bulls didn't cover spread".

Does this mean people are betting on high school football games?

Anonymous said...

Morgan ate the spread, sorry Bridgeport!

I thought a few posts ago that someone said Story had the Decatur Qback under control now. uhhh.. seems not? NO excuse for a head coach to allow childish antics from his players. Story needs to go. Time for someone to step in who will discipline players and bring back class to Decatur athletics. Where's Bobby Actkinson? Bring him back! (should have never let him go!)

Anonymous said...

Bobby has absorbed alot more than himself....he's the reason McDonald's got the "new look".

Decatur has enjoyed higher numbers of kids the last few years. Decatur has had a great streak of beating B-port, going to the playoffs and getting beat in the first round. Bridgeport, having fewer kids, has had the coaching to stay close in the Decatur game, ink out enough wins to make the playoffs, and go two or three rounds deep.
This year the talent is there along with the coaching. I hope Mr. Story is reviewing the Bprt-Dec. games from the past 7 years in hopes that he doesn't find any running up of the score. Luckily Story and Henson are both class-acts and know that "what comes around- goes around".
Bottom-line....Bridgeport will embarrass Decatur just as they've done to evryone else this year.

Anonymous said...

From a good sport Decaturite--I hope Bridgeport continues to do well in the playoffs--it's always good to see a WISE County team do great, and we should always support our Wise County teams when they "hit the road" on the playoffs. Meanwhile, Coach Park is taking Decatur's PREMIER (judged by results)sports program (Cross Country) back to Regionals yet again next weekend! Go Decatur CC!! What a LONG tradition of excellence they are celebrating!!

M-M said...

Decaturs' biggest problem has been no defense. Offense has been pretty good except for excessive interceptions.

Ya, QB threw a punch after being intercepted and was ejected with about two minutes to go.

Anonymous said...

Again, as a Decatur resident and parent of DISD kids, I am embarrassed by the behavior that is tolerated/condoned/allowed by the coaching staff of their QB. Absolutely the most ridiculous display of sportsmanship I have ever witnessed, from what is suppossed to be a classy organization. He should have already been sitting the bench but for sure needs to now. Put the freshman kid in - at least we will lose (maybe not) with class!

Anonymous said...

If a kid in the stands threw a punch, the school would initiate disciplinary action. Does behavior of players ever result in disciplinary action by the school, or is that left up to the coaching staff? I really am curious about this.

Do any Decatur teachers have a feel for how the new principal handles discipline? Is it still a matter of talented athletes walk on water around there, or is the treatment a bit more equitable than in the past?

Anonymous said...

The Eagles actually have a shot at the playoffs, if they beat Bridgeport and Iowa Park beats Vernon--never say never.

Myhump--that is an understatement. I would prefer to read positive things about all Wise County teams and not the long winded, self absorbed, and often inaccurate diatribes of Mr. Morgan

Anonymous said...

DO YOU ACTUALLY THINK DECATUR IS GOING TO BEAT BRIDGEPORT OR IP IS GOING TO BEET VERNON? YOU MAY NEED TO BE DRUG TESTED. ITS GOING TO BE A GREEN NIGHT IN BPORT!

I wonder if any of the "anonymous" Morgan bashers would say any of these comments to his face?

My the reader count thingy on the
WCM website, mr. morgans predictions are one of the top read stories in the entire paper including the REAL news stuff. like or not, i love reading it because he says what he thinks, and not what all the soccer moms want to read.
i don't always agree with what he says, but that's the best part

Anonymous said...

WHAT A DUMMY! Chad Harrison is the best athlete and Decatur had no chance to win without him. I agree with RM.

Anonymous said...

Paradise recruits? Hahaha, that is the dumbest thought i have heard ever.

Morgan said...

Anonymous people crack me up. Reminds me of the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz.

Speaking of the B.O.B.S = Bridgeport by at least 3 touchdowns (if coach henson decides to not run the score up, because he will have that option)

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:32 - it looks like mr. morgan was right ... decatur did not with without harrison. give it a rest, mom.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Paradise, it is no surprise they are 9-0 and not state-ranked. i think they are the worse undefeated team i have ever seen. they played a cupcake schedule before district and are barely getting by teams like boyd and jacksboro.
one and done in the playoffs.

First of all let me say that I am a Decatur parent and fan. I can say that I am sick of the way our qb acts. Yes the coaches are aware and have let him get away with it for years now. Where are his parents? Oh they act like that also. Believe me even his fellow teammates are sick of it. As a whole our team does not behave like that. After Friday we will be pulling for all the Wise County teams that make it into the playoffs. The Bulls have had a great season and wish them luck.

Anonymous said...

1:26 I love how u speak of Bridgeport as being without class yet Decatur players are throwing punches?!?!? Are you serious?!?!!!!! I'm SURPRISED comments on the Aristocrats vs Trailer trash haven't been posted.

P.S. I appreciate the nice comments from you Decatur Fans supporting our Bulls and wishing them luck! Thank u

4:32 Thank you for the compliment. I am proud to call #21 my son. It is nice to see compliments from someone rather than just the negative comments that so many of you have to say about our young men on the team. 1:01 that comment did NOT come from his mom, nor do I know who it came from. Chad Harrison is an incredible athelete, and I am very sorry he was injured however the game is a TEAM made up of many players and not just ONE! They all work hard and deserve your support whether we win or lose.

Didn't Morgan pull his own kids out of the Decatur schools? At least he's smart enough to see there ARE major coaching problems there. Starts with Story....ends with Story.

Anonymous said...

It's funny how Decatur fans a few years ago thought Story was a great coach, and Bridgeport fan's thought Henson needed to go....Bottom line-- coaches you need to win games with talented and untalented athletes if you want to be liked in wise county.

Anonymous said...

Story DID "deal" with the QB problem right after that first game where he was throwing fits on the sideline. Apparently, they had a face to fact talk, and he "behaved" okay until the Vernon game. I'm sure Story isn't happy about the punch, either, and will express his displeasure about it directly to the QB. Actually, I don't think the QB was ejected, because I saw him playing the final downs when Decatur got the ball in the end after the sudden, looooong touchdown run by Vernon after getting the ball back on the interception. Or was I mistaken? I could have sworn it was the same QB (Metts). In any event, Story can't be blamed for a sudden, unexpected action by one of the players. However, I DO hope he takes some measures to see this doesn't happen again. Remember, they ARE just kids out there, and are liable to do things their coaches don't approve of sometimes without warning.

Another Decatur fan who is proud to see B'port doing well this year, and who hopes they do great in the playoffs!!

HOW BOUT THEM EAGLES!

Anonymous said...

Coach Story is a great coach and a good man--he will deal with the problems & Decatur will be back on top again in a year or so. Last year on this blog everyone wanted Coach Henson to go and now he has a great team and they are in the playoffs. What a difference a year makes.

This Eagle fan also wishes the Bulls good luck in the playoffs and will be pulling for them.

Anonymous said...

I'm hearing today from people who were at the Decatur/Vernon game that the Decatur QB did not get ejected from the game. Someone please clarify and let us know what really happened. Thanks.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the idea that it takes more than 1 player to win games ( or two in Bridgeport's case ). The " Green " boys are very good athletes but they could not go out there and have won these games by themselves. So please enough with all the "Green" talk and give credit to the entire T-E-A-M...No I's in that word!

M-M said...

10:39 The run back from the interception, was when the punch was thrown and it appeared to me he was ejected. Colton Parker, the freshman backup QB, finished the game as QB. Metts did not return.

Anonymous said...

Caution might be in order. It is a game. Involving kids. Results are unpredictable........witness the Texas/TT game. On any given night...........

Might want to wait until the end of the game..........and even then a little reason/caution would do the kids a lot of good.

Cheer up. As a Baylor Bear I know "there is always next year."

TAKE AWAY THE GREEN BOYS AND SEE WHERE WE WOULD BE. IT WOULD BE SCARY TO SEE HENSON IN THERE.GO BULLS

Anonymous said...

Henson and that #25 could handle the load just fine.

Anonymous said...

wow, i love the way everyone jumps on the band wagon when decatur does great and jumps right off when they suck it off, robert morgan in particular. he just neeeds to stick with losing weight bc thats the only thing he is good at...and for all you ppl bashing coach story, he is by far one of the greatest men i know and decatur should never get rid of him just bc of one bad season...tim metts was definitley ejected friday night and will be benched for the first quarter of the decatur-bridgeport game. coach story definitley does not tolerate his actions and was extremely disappointed with him and the QB will recieve his consequences. this is a reliable source

Anonymous said...

YOU MUST BE A MORON TO THINK THAT HENSON AND #25 COULD DO AS WELL AS THE GREENS. HAVE YOU SEEN HENSON WHEN HE GETS COLOR BLIND AND THROWS TO THE OTHER TEAM? THERE ARE ALOT OF GREAT PLAYERS LIKE THE O LINE,OLMOS ,DANIELS,WHITE,BRACKEN,PARKER,SCOTT,WALDRIP AND KREBS JUST TO NAME A FEW

Anonymous said...

You have just made my point 6:07 ! Why name certain kids ? Why does it have to be just a few getting the "glory "? Why do you name the ones who have so called " the right last name " ? Thanks for making my point . All these kids have gone thru the same work outs and practices as the ones who always get mentioned. I for one want to say that they are as important to the TEAM as the next person. Some people are not as self-absorbed and need ALL the glory that others do. To bad the adults don't lead by example by not singleing certain players out and try giving the ENTIRE group credit for making history as a TEAM !!!!

Glen Harrison said...

Let me just clarify some things. Since Kyle Story will never get on this blog to refute some of the things being said about him and his program.......let me do it for him. I know first hand because I worked along side of the man for 9 years. The values and expectations that this man and the other coaches in that office are second to none. I have never been a part of a system that treats kids, coaches, teachers, parents with the utmost respect. Coach Story expects excellence, he expects you to act right and he holds people accountable. All programs at Decatur High School are successful because of the way that he treats his coaches and the players that are involved. They share a bunch of athletes and they make it work with outstanding success. To say that he allows his QB to act a certain way and allow it.....is totally riduculous. I promise you that what goes on behind the scenes...it is being dealt with. He will not tolerate acts that bring a negative light upon DHS or the athletic program. Coach Henson has done a tremendous job at Bridgeport and remains steadfast even through the lean years. The same negative things were said about him as well. Do not let one unfortunate season hinder your view of the man and person that Coach Kyle Story stands for....Be careful what you ask for!! To lose this coach and the men in that office would do a great disservice to the school and the community. There will always be someone to replace him.....but none to equal who and what he stands for! I thank you for your time and space. I will never venture this way again. Thanks for the memories Coach Story and to the rest of the staff.

Coach Speed...thanks for all your help and for looking after my son.
Coach Escobar....we could not have made it without your help, man...thanks a ton! Thanks Dr Alling for all you do. My son is a better person and has learned well from these men and I value what they do for these kids.
I Love you guys!! And I thank you for the ride. We have been blessed to have known you all! Best of luck in the future and maybe, just maybe our paths may cross again.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you 100% coach Harrison! My son also has learned well from all of the DHS coaching staff. They are the best!

Anonymous said...

Seriously people...These are kids. They play because they LOVE the game. It is easy to play arm chair quarterback after the fact. The coaches at DHS are awesome. They will handle the problems within and not broadcast it across Wise County. Thank you Coach Harrison for saying that about them. YES I am a mom of a Decatur Eagle and very proud of the man he is becoming. GO EAGLES!!!!!!!

I am a player for the Decatur High School football team and i can promise you that our QB issues are NOT being taken care of. Before this year I have always had the upmost respect for Coach Story, but he seems to have taken an "unhealthy" liking to Tim (Metts). He was told after the Homecoming game that if he ever acted out of order again his season will be over. I know this was said because i was there. This week Coach Story had the chance to save his reputation and level of respect with the team and he failed. His decision to sit Tim out the first quarter is merely an act to make it seem as if he is taking care of things. If his job was not in question he would gladly play Tim the entire game without penalty. I love being a part of the Decatur Eagles but this program does not carry the same prestige as it once did. In my opinion, as well as many of the players, it's time for Coach Story to step down. Let Coach Chris Jones take over.

Anonymous said...

Did it ever occur to you 9:15 that maybe Coach Story is trying to save the future quarterback (and I mean the freshman one) for next year from injuries and such on a game that doesn't really matter? This may be the best punishment Metts can get.

Anonymous said...

Glen,

Sorry, but I can't agree with you. Oh, sure, some of the coaches are great guys, lots of fun to be around, and excellent motivators, but, for an honorable, upstanding man, I have my kids look to the current suprintendent. He holds adults accountable for their actions, even when it is not a popular stance. He is concerned with providing students with proper values and morals in leadership positions; the coaches are concerned with winning, and, at least in the past, playing political games well.

Boy 9:51 you are a team player calling out your coach like that. I wonder if you play, or you bitter.
