Bridgeport Game: Oh, My

Trying to get a score of the game that is almost over. Looks like Bulls might be in trouble. Edit: The Bulls were down 28-14 in the 4th when they blocked a punt which took off 50 yards backwards. They scored a few plays later. An onsides kick failed, but the defense held forcing a punt. Now with the ball, the Bulls converted a 4th down in their own territory and then ANOTHER fourth down with less than a minute to play. Then, being inside the 10 yard line with less than 30 seconds left . . . . they scored on a six yard pass! PAT was good and we had a tie game with 26 seconds left. It then went to overtime. Monahans had the ball first but turned it over on downs. Bulls then converted a 34 yard field goal for the win. Good times. The Messenger's "Live Blog" of the game was fantastic. SCORING SUMMARY Second Quarter Monahans -- Trevor Owens 19 pass from Quincy Titus (Ty Horton kick), 10:05. Bridgeport -- Corbin Green 13 run (Ricky Martinez kick), 6:11. Sounds like a hell of a game! Sorry I missed it.

Sorry, I've been away. Been doing a little job for the state as they say- what's next for our beloved Bulls?

Congratulations to the BULLS! FROM A DECATUR person!

What's a loboe? I know a lobo means wolf. Not sure what a loboe is. A musical wolf?

Hey 9:37.
We don't care if your from Decatur, Bridgport, or Timbuktu.
Just say "congratulations" and move on.

Hey 10:34

9:37 was giving a compliment. Just say "thanks" and move on.

From a Bridgeport person.

Lobo's might have won the first 3 quarters, but the bulls damn sure rose to the occasion in a very big way in the 4th..that's got to be the best comeback in forever..! GO BULLS!!!!!

Hey 10:31,
We are all tired of Decatur folk making sure we know the compliment came from the other side of the creek. It gets old. No one cares if you're "on our side". Matter of fact...just stay over there and pull for the DHS cross country team.....we don't need you.
10:31.....does your husband know you are on the computer? Do the dishes and go to bed.

I caught the last few minutes of the game on 89.1FM. Man, what a LOUSY feed they had. But the game was definitely a nail biter and worth listening to the undermodulated signal thru the line noise.

Hopefully now that they have reached this level of the playoffs somebody with more technical know how will broadcast the games.

Anybody know if Fox Sports Southwest will show any 3-A games?

Congrats Bulls on your win. For a moment I was worried, but you guys pulled through.

Barry - that was a great edit. I enjoyed that. Thanks.

10:30 - touche' - that was funny.

11:20 & 10:34 -
You are sourpusses. You can't be even a little gracious?

I know your type - you compare everything B'port does to Decatur; just like Aggies compare everything they do to UT.

Then you over-compensate when a Decatur person wishes you well, by acting like you could care less about Decatur. The fact is you care too much; it's not love, it's closer to hate..... yes, I think you are haters.

That's your free psycho-analysis. Now do something with it and try to behave pleasantly.

For fear of missing some intended sarcasm, I'll explain: The Monahans Loboes like to put an "e" in the plural of the lobo, while the Levelland "Lobos" do not. It bothers me as a Levelland fan.

But in case you were merely being sarcastic funny, then nevermind. lol...

I agree with Anonymous 9:37; who cares at this point which side of Big Sandy you live on; let's congratulate the Bulls and the coaching staff on a job well done. I was there and it was a nail biter; but the boys pulled it by hanging together and fighting until the end. Well done Bridgeport, now let's get ready to kick some ..... next week!

First of all I am biased and proud. My son is a BP team member. I have never been so unhappy with fans as in the Monahans games. BP parents were quick to criticize the players and the coaches at half time. Parents were yelling at the team to “get on the ball”, “pull their heads out.” Some of you, who criticized the team, mentioned the years you played. Well did you go undefeated in district? I guess not since this team is the first in the history of Bridgeport. The last few minutes of the Monahans game were very emotional. But either way, I was proud of my son and proud of our team for making it this far. Quit living vicariously through the team and get behind them. These boys have poured their hearts and souls into this season. I am proud to be a father of one of the BULLS. This will be a senior year my son will never forget. I too have second guessed the coach. BUT, he has taken this team this far and deserves our respect. – A proud Bulls Father!!

I'm with 10:04.
The "hey everyone look......we are from Decatur and giving B-Port our support" got old in a hurry.
Basically we don't care where you are from.
The same people are the ones who are quick to put down the staff at DHS....or BHS if we have a down year.

Anonymous said...

If you don't care if we are from Decatur, then quit be such cry babies and quit saying how Decatur doesn't support Bridgeport and all those other pathetic things that Bridgeport fans say! We put "Decatur" so that you will know you are getting support from different places (particularly Decatur)!
No wonder people don't congratulate you and support you! You are RUDE!

Anonymous said...

Well I'm not from Bridgeport or Decatur and this all is a little funny and has been going on all season.

I would say "some" of the Bridgeport people are a little insecure, not all but some. Just take someone's congratulations being given to your kids and move on.

Geez

Anonymous said...

7:57,
you just proved their point. We know you think we are rude.....we know you are quick to put down your QB and coaching staff in an off-year...we know that when a team goes deep in the playoffs they get support from strange places. It's a given. So.....say your congrats if you want to.....but we, as a team, don't care if you are for or against us. Don't use Bridgeport's success to try to belittle your team and coaching staff.

You said: "Don't use Bridgeport's success to try to belittle your team and coaching staff."

What?
What the heck are you talking about?
No one has said a word about anyone else's team or coaching staff.
Stop putting words that are in your head in other people's mouths.
You need to distinguish those voices in your head from reality.

You need more therapy than I can give on a blog.

I don't know anyone personally from Decatur that would swap our coaching staff for Bridgeport's. We worry that Coach Story will get a better offer and leave. We want him to stay a long, long time.

There appears to be one guy (or gal) that posts on this blog that does not like DHS's coaching staff. He is probably some disgruntled parent who thinks his son is better than he really is. ANd that person hasn't posted on this chain - so these comments make no sense.

I have to keep reminding myself that the rude, crude people that are posting here are not representative of all of Bridgeport, just the baser ones. There are good folks in Bridgeport, they just aren't being represented well here.

Mr. Mike Honcho said...

*Sigh*

I read these comments from these "Chip on their shoulders" fans here in Bridgeport and want to laugh.

Why on earth would you be so angry, smug, uppity, hateful that you dis another town's fan who gives a shout out for your team?

I would bet honest money that they are the same folks who hate everything/everyone from UT just because their grandaddy, daddy, and kid all are going to A&M... or fill in your favorite rivalry here.

We all interact with fans who obsess and HATE other towns/teams/fans and it is an A$$ WHIPPING. Get over yourselves, and learn some manners... especially graciousness.

To ALL the fans of the Bulls this year... Thanks!

Mr. MIKE HONCHO.

BULL Fan. Brigeport Resident for many, many years. And swelling with pride for our team and at all the nice comments coming from around the county.

Amen Honcho, you nailed it on the head. Decatur fans are just identifying themselves to let B'port know they are getting support from all over the county. The same would go for Alvord, Paradise, Boyd, and Chico fans. It's sad when some B'port fans reveal that HUGE chip they have on their shoulders whenever ANYTHING is even MENTIONED about Decatur! Good Grief. I'm PROUD of how B'port is doing, and I hope they go ALL THE WAY!! This from a DECATUR FAN!! Nyah, nyah, nyah to the B'port sourpusses, and Congratulations to the rest, who are mature to receive it politely!!

Anonymous said...

10:42, Speak for yourself. There are many people who wish Story would leave, not just the one guy or gal who posts on this blog.

Anonymous said...

I'll try to help 8:47 out...

When you say "FROM DECATUR" it makes it look like you are trying to throw it in the face of the players and coaching staff of the big blue machine. I know, I'm from Decatur and that is what it looks like to me. Not all Decatur fans are necessarily rooting for Bridgeport to win while we are not playing. That's how rivalries work. Don't switch teams after the season. Heck, I don't want you rooting for my team if you are publicly going to pull for the hated ones. I feel the pain of the B-Port fan.

BTW....Honcho, you are a typical fan. Glad you are on BPort's side. I wouldn't expect you to get it.

Mr. Mike Honcho said...

12:57pm... You sound just like the typical small town hater I described above... just in Blue. You take a rivalry to the next level... past the games played and relish in the bad things that happen to the rival town.

Yeah, I am a typical fan... If Bridgeport and Decatur play ANY kind of game or contest you can bet I will root the Bulls or Sissies on to the end. It can be checkers on the side of 380 and I will be there cheering for every jump the Bulls would make. But guess what... afterwards, I can let it go... I love every minute of the rivalry, but I don't lose sleep worry about who is on the bandwagon in playoffs.

I am so sick of hearing people hating on other towns right now. In the college game it has become ridiculous. I crack up at people obsessing, yes, OBSESSING about making sure Texas or OU does not make it to a NC.

Instead of worrying about who is passing on good tidings for the Bulls... just shut up, get over yourselves, and enjoy the success of a bunch of 15, 16, 17, and 18 year olds. What they are doing is fun to watch.

Congrats to the Bulls

12:57 - I'm from Decatur & you certainly don't speak for me.

Obviously your self-esteem is so small that if someone compliments some team or person, you think that means that they are disrespecting some other team or person. Nope it doesn't work that way.

Compliments are just compliments, no hidden agendas.

Sheesh, these small minded people that HAVE TO find a way to read negativity into even the kindest and most positive of words....man, that's not a fun way to live. Glad we all don't have to live like that. You'd take a beating no matter what comes out of someone's mouth.

And thank you Mr. MIKE HONCHO for your graciousness. Glad to see someone is enjoying the compliments in the spirit with which they were intended....

Dear 6 pound 8 ounce baby Jesus
so warm and cuddly, yet omnipotent.

Deliver the Bulls from Liberty Hill
and those vicious Decatur Eagle fans on a blog on the internets... who 's verbal attacks can derail a state title run faster than a fumble on the goal line.

We humbly ask for their screens to come on blitzes and the safeties biting on a play action when called cover two.

Amen and BOOOMB!

i read somewhere that bport and liberty hill are the only 2 undefeated 3A teams left.. anyway it doesnt matter where youre from, JUST SHOW UP IN WACO READY TO SUPPORT THE BULLS THIS WEEKEND!!

Hey 11:20, There is a reason people in Decatur don't like Bridgeport in general. You say things just like your comment above and make yourself look like a dipshit. I would have to say that if you don't make it to state it's because of attitudes just like yours. Have a nice day and F-off....from a Decatur person, you smart ass!!

Anonymous said...

Iam still from Decatur and I still wish the Bulls "good luck"! If you don't want to accept my "good luck wish" that is fine by me! If you think I have an ulterior motive, then you have a big-time problem! Get over yourself! AND I still wish the Bulls "good luck"!

Anonymous said...

Thank you from everyone in Wise County wishing the Bulls good luck! It take community support to keep going!

A BULL SUPPORTER!

I believe the posts from the idiot responding to congratulations from Decatur all come from the same person. As a longtime Bull fan, let me say thanks for the well wishes, no matter where they are from. His mother needs to spank his bottom and send him to bed without supper for not minding his manners.

I am a Bull Fan and I appreciate all the good wishes and support from everyone that wishes to say so. THANKS and keep our players in your prayers, so that none will be hurt. WHEREEVER you are from in Wise County, I will support your team unless you are playing Bridgeport.
