After studying the weather charts all morning, I have come to the conclusion that the rain is over. Yeah, we might have a brief shower over the next couple of days, but the Big Stuff is over.
And I wonder if we will remember the weather over the last two months in the same way we remember the Heat Wave of 1980 or the Freeze of 1983-1984?

I knew the rain was going to be over a few days ago when I saw Harold Taft's image appear in my toast!
As Harold always use to say," Every drought ends with a flood." I hope he was right.
well remember it if it supports global warming otherwise it will just go away
Over? Over? NOTHING is over until we say it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? "Germans?". Forget it...he's on a roll.
Harold is greater than Elvis.
Harold is greater than Chuck Norris.
Harold can never live up to be Walker, Texas Ranger aka Chuck Norris
Channel 5 never recovered from Harold Taft's death. His weather saved the Channel 5 10 o'clock news. As soon as he left everyone went to Channel 8 with Troy and Verne Lundquist.
*sigh* I remember sitting in my Grandparent house in Bridgeport as a little guy staying up to watch the weather then Johnny Carson.
I can remember when Mr. Taft talked about the current conditions they would switch to a camera shot that showed the gauges measuring temp, humidity, windspeed, direction, etc.
Good times.
Hasn't anyone noticed, besides Al Gore that the weather hasn't been the same since Harold passed away??
10:08, My thoughts exactly. Before he died, we didn't need weathermen because it was 72 degrees everyday, slight humidity, and a 20 per cent chance of rain.
Is it my childhood memory being inaccuarate (i was 10 year old) or was the 1980 heat wave preceeded by ridiculous amounts of rain?
For U Weather Taft's:
Summer of 1980 - HOTTTTTTT
October 1981 - FLOODDDDDDD
December 1983 - FREEZEEEEEE
May & June 2007 - FLOODDDDDDD
Al Gore and warming - 0000000000
I adored Harold Taft. A no nonsense, practical weather reporter - no fluff - just the facts.
And he could almost make the camera lens melt with his honest look.
I miss the guy!
